"Cheers,because,7 months after release, you still haven’t fixed the OOoooOOO sound bug
that occurs in world boss fights, and results in game crashes.
Cheers, because if the game crashes when doing a dragon event, there is no provision
for me to get back in the main server and I’m thrown into overflow.
Thank you.
You are so awesome."

This message got infracted 10 sec after being posted in GW2 forums.

I really don't know why.

All I wanted to do was to thank them and point out their awesomeness.

You see,in the middle of fighting Jormag, the famous OOOoooOOOoooo bug happened, and

then the game crashed.

This bug is very common in such world fights and has been in the game since day 1.

So,when I reloged,I was not able to join back in the fight, because of a very inovative and

groundbraking feature of GW2.The overflow map.

Now,if I knew I'd get an infraction anyway, just for posting true facts about the game and being gratefull,

I might as well have told them that they suck balls.

But I didn't.

    Never heard it.

Sound drivers possibly? Are you using an onboard audio or card?

Are you here for help from the community or just complaining about a random thing in a huge game?

edit: also, you sounded very sarcastic and childish. Probably why your post got knocked out.

Same here. I´m no DE-Farmer at all, but did my fair share of Big DEvents few times and i have never encoutered any sound Bug during those fights.

Try to lower the sound quality, might be the issue here.

not had any sound bugs or game crashes before, are you sure all your drivers are up to date?
  • tintilinictintilinic Member Posts: 283

Never got that bug in PvE although i attended lots and lots of massive dragon fights, and when i did get it i never ever crashed, in fact i played on for hours until i restarted the game.

Oh, and btw, didnt get it in last....2-ish months also.

This is one of the most common and well known GW2 bugs.

Google or You tube,GW2 sound bug and you'll see what I mean.

There were dozens of posts about this bug in the forums at game launch.

Today I had 5 more players in the overflow with me,that had exactly the

same bug and crashed like me.

    Here is a link

    Here is another link

    Here is another link

    Here is another link

This bug has been, and still is in the game.

It happens in 1 of every 3 world boss events.

It goes on forever, and restarting the game is required to fix it,or it leads to total game crash.

Funny, that you never heard anything about it.

I never head these issues before, but that kind of post would get infracted anytime. Reconfigure sound settings ingame and update your sound drivers. Next time add your system specs and GW2 configuration and they (ANet) might take you serious.

I get this bug all the time....thought I was the only one getting it.

  • uidCausticuidCaustic Member Posts: 128
Never heard of a "OOooooOO" sound bug when I played... aside from that, your original post was antagonistic, and you got punished for it.  Not rocket science kiddo.
  • AmjocoAmjoco Member UncommonPosts: 4,860

I haven't had the problem, but my first google showed that it is a problem with your sound quality settings. I know you have probably tried to change this, but thought I might point that out. I have read a lot of folks fixed it by lowering the quality.

edit: also, what type of card are you using?

Death is nothing to us, since when we are, Death has not come, and when death has come, we are not.

  • RockardRockard Member UncommonPosts: 206

I was not reporting a bug.

I just wanted to thank them for the pleasant gaming experience.

Of course I have reported this way back, with all the technical information they

wanted, and I was not the only one to report it.

If I remember well, there was even a consolidated post with all the reports about this bug.

Also I did not use any kind of characterizations for any of you. I return the kiddos to their sender.

    Fact is.

    There is a bug.

It might result in game crashing.

Once crashed while doing an event there is the possibility of not being able to get back in the event.

Pointing this out in the forums might get you an infraction.

And I just wanted to share this story with you.

I got an X-Fi titanium Fatality card, with the latest drivers on it.

Also I tried lowering the quality of the sound, but I didn't see it fixing the bug.

I still got it,so I raised the sound quality bar back  to full.

If it's going to bug,at least let it be a bug of good quality.

the other side of their support is my story......i used to crash in GW2 all the time when it came out (never in beta tough).

I submitted a ticket and started mailing with them......after 4 or 5 try's they solved my issues i had and never had a crash ever again......so yeah they ARE awesome.

ps: it had something to do with my GFX card that didnt react good to some settings i put it on......they found it and fixed it.

So i kinda doubt that you even reported it and worked trough emailing them with the right info to get it even fixed.

They dont wave wands to solve shit you know.

Here is a suggestion from someone else... I'm sorry if you have tried these ideas and I will stop after this one. You have probably tried them all. I can only suggest patience! o.O

To those that are having issues, I’d suggest deleting their Local.dat and see if it helps (be sure to make notes/sceenies of your game/graphic settings though, so it’s easy to set your personal preferences again)

edit: it seems that most folks that are having problems are dealing with Creative Drivers.

Death is nothing to us, since when we are, Death has not come, and when death has come, we are not.

    Your story is irelevant.

The fact that they helped you fix your problem, which seems like it was a very special problem

affecting only your system, cannot lead to the conclusion that they can and will fix any problem.

    I don't generally  crash in GW2.

In fact the only time the game might crash is when this bug happens.

The bug is a fact, and I'm not the only one getting it.

There are numerous reports and videos about it.

My initial post was not about a bug reporting to their support.

IF this would be a bug in their ingame coding then everyone would crash......its not the case so it has to be on the client machine.

Video's schmideo's.....everybody puts shit on youtube these days.

It's not because 200 people have the same error that it is their fault is it?

Are you emailing with their support for this issue? what did they say about it?

From your youtube examples and most posts I have read the problem occured back around Sep 2012. Since then major updates have been done and also Creative has posted new drivers. You say that your drivers are up to date, you may try experimenting with rolling back drivers or finding older ones.

Also again I have found several fixes by doing this

Death is nothing to us, since when we are, Death has not come, and when death has come, we are not.

I agree with others here. If you arent trying to report a bug, or even want to get it fixed, you have no business making a post at all. Your "congratulations" and telling them so politely how "awsome" they are for a very minor bug that only happens to a handful of people in a very rare special circumstance should have gotten you permabanned, not just a forum infraction. If you arent happy with the game, please move along. Others have been playing since early beta, or launch, and not only never experienced this, but have never even heard of it before.

In the future, just remember, sarcasm does not carry well on the internet. If you fill your posts with passive agressiveness or being just plain rude, you will be moderated and sometimes punished for it. And at that point, it is well deserved. I congratulate Anet for taking that step and telling people like you that those posts do not belong on the internet, and they wont tolerate it. Kudos.

I don' tplay GW2 anymore, just not my style.

I do however have views about customer service in general.....

It is NOT acceptable for CS to have an inability to shrug off sarcasm. SInce the post didn't incluse and cursing, or name calling I think it is completely acceptable.

The reasons are simple. A post that could have been delt with "in-house", has now been spread to other forums. Word of Mouth publicity is the most influencial. When a customer recieves poor customer service, it is generaly believed they will tell 10 others about their poor service. When a customer recieves good customer service, it is generaly believed they will tell 1 to 3 others.

I realize that game forums offer a different metric than, les say a resturant, but it still has an effect.

In conclusion, shame on ANet for being thin skinned. As for my personal opinion... It is a NC game correct? A company that has a history of NOT providing quality customer service? Have I not read post after post of "ANet forum Mods are "jack booted thugs"? Yup to all.

    I agree ^

What amazes me though is there are some that will actually try to defend this type of childish behavoir.

Sure, reps shake this kind of thing off when done in private via email, letter, or over the phone. When you make a public scene like this then no, they don't just shake it off and they shouldn't.

If you get antagonistic like this in a letter to a resteraunt, they won't ask you not to return and they may even send you a gift card and an apology. If you make a scene like this in the resteraunt, they are going to ask you to leave. If it gets to bad they will ask you not to come back.

There is a difference between complaining to a company in private and making a scene in public. One will get you heard, the other will get you out the door.

Anets always had good customer service in my experience, and the bug being discussed is not one I've even heard of let alone experienced. The post was simply uncalled for.

It is Anet's fourm. They can do with it whatever they wish.

The fact that it was brought here was probably cynical in nature but if folks would try and help it would stop there.

As far as your last sentence is concerned, go into Walmart and start acting like a moron. You will be escorted out by the Greeter and that will be the end of that. /shrug
