And yet another 'Some Beach' game

So I played the Neverwinter beta this past weekend and guess what?  You start out on a beach, apparently lost or shipwrecked or something.  

 

Recently, I played the Path of Exile game and it started exactly the same way, on a beach.  Last month, I was interested in Age of Conan again after reading several forum posts here and thought about giving it another try.  Same thing : I started out on some beach.

 

My questions are : what other games start you out on a beach and also, can't the developers think of something other than this?

    I played Medal of Honor: Frontline and started on some beach...in Normandy...on June 6, 1944...

    EverQuest 2 has one beast start as well...

    Yup, I know exactly what you mean. AoC, TERA, PoE, and now Neverwinter.

    Hmm, let's see.  I can go back as far as:

    DAoC - My Hibbie started out on a beach killing crabs.

    DK Online - You start on a beach, killing crabs.

    Dragon's Prophet  - Not out yet, but one of the starter towns is on a beach.

    Yes, there's not much imagination put into games these days - I also hate the "You wake up in a small room and have no memories prior to that point" games, too.

    EQ2 back in 2005 - You started out on a beach killing crabs no shipwreck though but you arrived on a small ship.

    Gotta start somewhere.  A beach is at least slightly more creative than the burning farm. ;)

    At least we're not always starting inside a jail cell...

    Anarchy Online back in 2001 also started in a beach after your shuttle is shot down when arriving in the planet... so basically 2 out of 3 funcom MMOs start on a beach (with the third one having a small coast town as the first area you visit).. :)

    What can men do against such reckless hate?
