I always thought Internet latency is the problem, not server performance?

Thats just one of many. One of the major bottlenecks can be data base access. Thats one of the reasons that CCP went with solid state systems to keep that as low as possible. At this point, its as much art as science, but technology advances very quickly.
Im guessing in the long run that AMD is using Firefall as the test subject if you will. Im willing to bet that AMD will venture out to other production companies if this proves succesful with FireFall also I am willing to bet they will step up the performance when deemed practicle.
