All the actors from High School musical in space, plus flares. Blergh.

That still sounds better than episode one....

Nah, my fear is that JJ will get "lost" with the plot again.

They did have an episode of TNG where it was Star Trek vs Star Wars. Of course it was all in fun.

But sadly for the Star Wars fans turbo lasers just couldnt penetrate or even effect the shields of the Enterprise.

Hell, even on its own it's quite a good, enjoyable film which brings ST to a whole new generation of fans while remaining mostly true to the source material. The parellel universe angle was fairly clever in that it basically allows Abrams & others mostly free reign within the setting without having to worry about conflicting with established canon.

Yes, I do think the lens flare was a bit out of control. Yes, a few of the actors performances were dry (c'mon Karl Urban, you can do better! I've SEEN you do better!). But overall I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would, and will definitely be seeing the sequel.

Oh, and I thought Enterprise was pretty good as well. Much better than say, early seasons of DS9.

My point is, although I am leery of a new Star Wars film I think that given creative freedom, Abrams can do great things for Star Wars.

i agree.. execpt i loved karl as bones!!! aside from simon peg(favorite by far!) I thought he did the best of them all

Exactly, Karl Urban payed bones like deForest Kelley played bones. It was a true tribute to the original character. And by far he was my favorite performance out of the show.

Well Zachary Quinto did an amazing Spock also.

the effects in the new star trek are awesome,,better than star wars

and even if it turns out as "bad" as phantom menace, it will still be worth the money and time

i hope we finally get a love scene between a nude jawa and a shaven ewok

i always wondered, what that would look like

If he doesn't pick John Williams for the musical score, then THAT will be my indication of the movies' quality.  Especially in light of Mr. Williams showing an enthusiastic interest in writing a new score for the trilogy.

I have read an article that indicated that there are talks with many of the original cast members for reprised roles in the upcoming movie, if not trilogy.  Including:  Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Harrison Ford, Billy D. Williams and Samuel L. Jackson.  It was said that Mark Hamill stated that he would only sign on if two condition were met.  One being that the franchise return to the more lighthearted origins of episodes IV, V and VI and if Anthony Daniels and Peter Mayhew were also brought into the cast.

I much more would like to see next Star Wars with Thrawn in it's center... or if it is so much later... the unknown Thrawn's third clone. Timothy Zahn's brilliant character deserves a movie more than any other in my opinion... of course the more we know, the less chance for it to happen...

And SW without John Williams score ... would not be Star Wars.

if JW doesn't do the music, the movie will end up to be a disaster.

anyone trying to rip off or "re arrange" the score will fail miserably.

JW IS Star Wars, more than George Lucas,  without him "New Hope" would have been a forgettable cheap 1977 sci fi flick, with no sequels after Episode 4.

williams would be the best choice, of course, but not the ONLY one

i think morricone or silvestri would do a good job too

yes, without his epic score, a new hope would have been just another scifi flick

Yes and no. JW's score for Superman is almost exactly the same as SW, and Superman is pretty forgetable.

Granted it's subjective, but I'm not the first to make the comparison by a long shot.

I think it's the heavy use of brass that makes you think of the similarities, and I know the 2010 film was a remake but damn that song he did for it was lazy. Sounds exactly like the original 1978 theme he did. Lazy hack.

The more I'm around the forums on this site, the more bitter I become.
