Star Wars: The Old Republic: BioWare Founders to be Honored

SBFordSBFord Former Associate EditorMember LegendaryPosts: 33,129

Ray Muzyka and Greg Zeschuk, founders of BioWare and recent retirees, will be honored at next month's Game Developer's Choice Awards. The pair will be awarded a Lifetime Achievement award for their long involvement in the gaming industry.

Lifetime Achievement Award honorees Muzyka and Zeschuk, known throughout the game development community as the ‘BioWare Doctors’, met while in medical school at the University of Alberta where they learned they shared a passion for video game development. They each continued to moonlight as doctors during the early years of BioWare but then transitioned to the videogame industry full time as they and their passionate teams at BioWare went on to create some of the industry’s most influential, highly praised and critically acclaimed role-playing games such as Baldur's Gate™, Neverwinter Nights™, Star Wars™: Knights of the Old Republic, Jade Empire™, Mass Effect™, Dragon Age™ and Star Wars™: The Old Republic.

Knights of the Old Republic was a brilliant game, spent many an hour enjoying playing it.

Wish i could say the same for SWTOR......

This is a good thing. The Bioware docs did great things for gaming. It's just too bad their magnum opus fell flat with most folks.

I want a mmorpg where people have gone through misery, have gone through school stuff and actually have had sex even. -sagil

Good single-player developers. SWTOR was a total upset, but they obviously did a good job with their other entities.

    [mod edit]

Only good game listed was Baldur's Gate.

SWTOR was the worst game listed.  And by that I mean it was the worst game ever created since the first game was ever created.

They deserve the honors for making exceptional single player rpgs. When it comes to mmos nobody has done anything worthy of honors.

If you look at SWTOR as a SRPG worthy of a few eeks (or months) of entertainment, then it isn't a bad game - but yeah, as an mmorpg, it fell far short of what is should have been. image
