I started playing Tera when it went F2P. The game is pretty fun and the combat is amazing. The questiing grinding does get a little old after a while, but I joined a guild that is active and there is always people to talk to. While doing all that I also gather materials to level up my skills on the side. The game's graphics are very beautiful as well. If you are looking for a game that is pretty fun and you are tired of the old click and press 123435 then try Tera. It isn't like you have to buy the game now anyways.

I´v been playing Guild Wars 2 since Pre-launch-evnt-thingy the 25th of Aug. Never regret the 150€ Price for the CE Box, had and still have a lot of fun. 6Months still only have 1! Level 80, thanks to Wv3 i´m farming, soloing the cr--p out of it.
Now, did download TerA this weekend and have played or tried out every class in the game(tutorial). Level up a Slayer - Popori (the only reason to play Tera and the graphics maybe) up to level 25 and have to say, i like it a lot actually. Tried a lancer up to level 15 and it was not my thing and im a Tier 2 Tanker-Pugraids (Lotro), after that i went and created :
- Archer (stupidiest class in the game), HOLD Left mouse button and Press S.. mobs will never hit you... i find this to be the most boring class in my MMO Pedigree.
- Sorcerer squishy and then same as with the archer (OLD School gameplay with new combat mechanic)
Now, did try BOL twice and the first run we accidentally pulled last room and final boss. Healer and 1x warrior died, we 3man it and it was actually challenging and fun, but to say the dung. are better due the better combat system, is utterly a false statement. Slayer and the Berseker rely on HITTING stuff to fill up Mana, no HIT, NO MANA, NO DPS!..
i had so much fun with my slayer PVE Wise, but now i have just hatred for the class in a dungeon... chasing a boss like Last one in BOL that keeps jumping back and forth... is so frustrating as a slayer, make me wanna uninstall the cr-p. You can´t MOVE and attack like in GW2.. every attack requires you to stand still (thunderstrike and other do leap forward, but thats about it -movement wise -)
.... im still playing it, kinda like the popori race and the graphics are among the best. If i had to review it (my native lang., sorry for my bad english)
GW2
+ DE
+ superior combat system, sure you have to "TAB".. but everything can be excecuted while moving (i can shot arrow while moving, can swing a sword while moving etc..)
+ Art Style, although not on par with TerA (colorful, console-ish style)
+ great Comm.
+ Wv3
(+) Asura and Quaggans
+ crafting
- Culling (was perfect at launch day and the weeks after... )
- sPvP Capture the Base PVP
TerA
+ Old scholl Quest-style system
+ SUPERB! Instance Match-system-whatever its spelledd correctly (B key?)
+ Popori Race
+ Very nice graphics, even better than AoC
- combat system works fine in PvE, lacks in a Dungeon envi. (slayer PoV)
- cant move and hit (fire up skills....)
- CAN BE played with a game pad?
- TERRIBLE Comm.
- PLAYING on a low Server like Veritas, does not mean you have no queue... which is pathetic (even the status says no QUEUE... yet everytime i try or want to level up my slayer, 25min in the line.... 50min for a HIGH server keep that in mind EU Tera)
Both games are not perfect, no game will be ever perfect not even TESO In the end, i prefer GW2.. combat is a lot quicker, Anet has a bigger Reputation.. we already got like 6 or 8 free updates, 2 of them big ones (Karka .. but have to agree, TERA IS BY FAR a god-damn great game, just remove the pedos, the kiddies and the vulgar tone and you have a great game, with some of the best graphics i´v seen (MMON and non MMO).
Playing at 2560 by 1080p - preset 5 or 6 steady 45 fps, GW2 (heh) 40ish
A random event is nothing more than a pre-planned outcome. Mindcraft is a perfect example. You cant predict what someone will build but whatever was built was part of the code (i.e. - just a high number of pre-concieved outcomes)....
Um... no, that's not true. What people build isn't part of the code. There's code for block placement and removal, but where people place the blocks is fully external to the coding. All the code there has block with an ID of whatever at a specific x,y,z coordinate. What gets built is not part of the code.
Give me an example.
An example of something that doesn't exist?
Um... well, let me try to explain it better instead. Say, for example, you build a pirate ship in Minecraft. Is there code in Minecraft for that pirate ship? No. There's data that keeps track of what blocks you've placed at what coordinates, that's it. It's up to our minds to interpret what that data visually represents as a pirate ship. Or someone, for example, creates a giant spoon. There's no code in the game for every conceivable spoon, just data for block placements. Yes, I admit it... this was a lede for a "there is no spoon" joke, but I couldn't get one worked out...
Was looking for a code block but your explanation made it clear :-)
Thats goes back to my point of component relationship. You create the building blocks and DEFINE how they can be put together and the rules for gathering (i.e. - some items are built from others and cant be gathered directly). You code the structure and allow the player to create what they will. But be aware the creation is actually your imagination as the pirate ship is just a representation (meaning you cant sail on it, place cannons, etc). So again perspective.
With that said, if GW2 had implemented a system like THIS it would be closer to dynamic than what they actually implemented.
Player driven "random" content will always be better than system created "random" content which repeats on a timer.
You are getting confused between DYNAMIC and RANDOM.
Dynamic means the quests do not stay in one spot forever. It means that the quests are caused by other events in the world. This doesn't preclude them from starting at the same point once an event chain finishes, to be started again by actions of NPCs or players. What it does stop them from doing is just sitting there with an exclamation mark above their head. This is exactly what was promised and delivered.
Random on the other hand means there is no pattern to the quests or events. This was never promised, so not sure why anyone expected this?
Personally I blame all the confusion regarding dynamic events on poor education. Obviously people can't understand what things really mean.
This has been discussed to death so no need to prolong it. Ill just say we disagree.
Obviously it a poor choice of (marketing) words. Everyone who thinks differently from you can't be wrong.
I replied to the OP because I am playing both. I wanted to respond to his post with some opinion and truths about TERA and GW2. Both games have their place but to say one is better than the other is just ludicrous.
I myslef do prefer GW2 - but that won't stop me from playing TERA when I want to do something mindless.
Well I disagree with every point OP made. Most of the points are subjective. To really enjoy Tera you have to prefer Asian themes, animation lock, WoW style quest hubs, pixelated mess with graphics on mid to low settings. I enjoy none of these features. Better "action" combat in Vindictus.
Ah ah really? So you don't just fail at logic and taste, even at irony?
Not a good day, indeed
Considering taste is subjective and preferring one video game over the other doesn't mean your taste is superior and since you can not fathom something so basic i would suggest not to point fingers at others when it comes to logic.
Oh taste is relative except in a few cases. For example, you could say that coprofiliacs (people who like to eat excrements) demonstrate your point, while I would add that they actually demonstrate MY point:not all tastes are equal.
And sorry buddy, but my taste will always be better than yours. To me at least
My advice would be if you've grown tired of one MMO, then instead of just perpetuating the cycle of fatigue, try playing a game that isn't one for awhile.
If you dont do stupid things while youre young, youll have nothing to smile about when youre old.

I disagree... the Minecraft system only allows for the static placement of things, nothing really dynamic at all. DEs in GW2 are, for want of a better term, advanced quests in motion. They don't require user interaction to kick off... many simply happen.
Hilariously enough, the combat system in GW2 and TERA really isn't all that different from one another. GW2 has a few options of play, and very limited animation lock. Whereas TERA has only 1 method of play and very severe animation lock.
The primary thing that gets pointed to when people claim 'TERAs combat is so much better!' is the reticle based combat. However, GW2 has this. Unfortuantely I'm not allowed to even mention the name of the program here that makes this viable, but many players within GW2 use it, and Anet has shown no desire to punish players for using it.
- More importantly, what TERA offers different from GW2; is a fairly seamless game based around traditional quests (kill X of Y), with the option of open world PvP. That's the main difference between the two.
And whats in correct or trollish about what he said? the inherent activities in DE"s are the same as any typical quest objectives. Kill, escort, collect, defend and so on.
What more deep knowledge he requires to make his point more convincing about DE's? some of you guys really try way too hard to make GW2 look more complex than it really is.
Same goes for TSW, thats when you can call it trollish.
GW2 is most complex wheter you like it or not.

Can you....idk...do something fun with the spoon?

I agree with this. To prepare for GW2, I didn't want to be burnt out on MMOs, so I quit WoW over 6 months in advance. It was worth it, and a nice change of pace.

yes, too many people perpetrate this cycle:
hype, followed by playing almost 24/7 the first weeks of release, burn out, hate and rage,,jump to another game, rinse and repeat
Changing genre or even just doing something that doesn't keep you hours stuck in front of teh PC, is the best advice

I am still enjoying GW2 - I do other things also (I have hobbies - if you don't know what they are look up the term). lol
