What are the big ones of 2013?

GrayKodiakGrayKodiak Member CommonPosts: 576

I keep hearing about games on MMORPG, especially in the forums, only to go look at them and see they are still in Kickstarter stage or have an ETA of 2016 (heres looking at you pathfinder online).

The actual games, mmorpg only, that I see coming out in 2013 are-

Elder Scrolls Online

Age of Wushu/Wulin

Wild Star

Neverwinter

City of Steam

Darkfall UW (ok maybe a 2013 launch is pushing it on this thing)

FF reboot

then there are a few mmofpsrpg like day z standalone and defiance as well, and some nice Arpg's but it seems the actualy 2013 release schedule is not that big am I missing some? Is that it? Are there any other MMORPG games that actually look like they will release in 2013 in the United States?

yea but a lot of those are not mmorpg's but arpg's like marvel heroes or massive fps like defiance and world of warplanes and dust 514....not that there is anything wrong with either of those groups.

I believe Dust 514 is being called an FPS/MMO hybrid for the sole reason that it has interaction with an MMO. Dust itself is actually only a 48 player game. From what I have read though, CCP does have plans to eventually add some true MMO features, but when? Seems a bit weird to call it an MMO before its an MMO.

I personally think the most popular will be TESO, Neverwinter, and Archeage in that order.  Black Desert should also be really popular, but it's unlikely to get a US release in 2013 (though the Korean version should release by then) and it doesn't have a lot of hype at the moment.  EQNext may possibly release this year too, and you can bet that's going to be huge, but it's a big unknown right now.  Wildstar and Darkfall UW should do okay, but I don't see them being hits like the MMOs above.

That would be great, yes. Not to mention "Class 4".

But lets face it, Neverwinter and the translated version of Archeage probably is what we get.

I am finding hard to get to grips wiht what Neverwinter is and whether to look at it at all.

(My if  "yes to any of these please leave me alone list")

    1.  "Action Based Combat System"?

    2.  Mostly consists of instances with a lobby, many of the instances being player developed?

    3. FFA PvP?

    4. No real crafting system, or a system that makes items that are inferior to easily obtained dropped items?

    5. Choke Points where you will be ganked for items you have taken time and effort to get.

I am not saying that Neverwinter has any of the above, just asking those that know if it does.  As for Archeage, it does meet at least one of these points and I will not be looking at it any further.

You got the order confused, sorry.  It's ArcheAge, TESO, Neverwinter.  Omg I feel a poll coming on!

    Well really just TESO.

Archeage and aow sound like good games, but I think they will just attract mmo specialists like us guys here.

Wildstar and Neverwinter look like super linear more wow clone than wow itself games in the vein of swtor

City of steam is a browser mmo isn't it?

Marvel heroes, read a really bad alpha preview of it on RPS, bear in mind one of the RPS founders is a writer for marvel and they still slated it.

Defiance might be good, not really followed it.

Dust, warplanes and firefall will play 2nd fiddle to ps2 imo.

Im gonna put down Everquest next, Since it could possibly come out later this year, they seem to like keeping thing hush hush been in development since atleast 2009 to some degree looking at the last page of the 10 year anneversay book of Everquest, We know the engine for the game is comeplete, guess we will find out more in august i beleiuve for SoE fanfaire.
  • paulythebpaulytheb Member UncommonPosts: 363

    For me it is ;

    1) Archeage

    35) Neverwinter (might try this)

    193) TESO (not gonna buy this)

I hope some news on the Repopulation or EQ3 comes soon because even AA seems only about average. IMO

( Note to self-Don't say anything bad about Drizzt.)

An acerbic sense of humor is NOT allowed here.

I didn't list that because of

    a) frequent mmo push backs lately. It would be amazing to see one released EARLIER than people expect.

    b) the only 2013 reference was vague....they said we might play elements of it or some such in 2013...I bet we may see a beta.

Strictly speaking .. right. They are not MMORPGs. But the gameplay style is close enough, and if they are fun, there is no reason not to play.
