I've always liked his idea of player driven factions as opposed to contrived developer defined factions.  His pvp system in Lineage was probably my favorite.

Centuries ago, in primitive times, before the dawn of civilization, there were things that would be inconceivable to us today; such things as poverty, disease, violence, senility, and love.

Random ganks, fun, but get old and sometime annoying, can still happen in factional with people jumping the border, but more people will work togather in their own lands. 4. More boarder wars then just random battles, making for more organized pvp! 5. I think the biggest draw to the factional idea for me is like daoc, you just get a great community when you are at the start semi pre-determined ... "ok these guys are my buds! all of them!". 6. Settlements and defenses would forge more togather for defense etc, I can imagin some nice boarder walls etc ;) 7. Easier for starting players to get into and not rage and quit. 8. Opens up for a more friendly community just by the server rules. -----------   add to the list or argue if you like, I just think factional would rock in this game.

Their are three factions in AA.  Two comprising two sets of races, set on two different continents.  If you kill your own faction, you get sent to court, and then sometimes to prison.  If you get sent enough, you are forced into the pirate faction, which operates off an island with its own set of special faction NPCs and traders.  You will be banned from NPC cities and NPC trade on the main faction continents.

Eh, it's all good, he already said a factional server won't happen, looks like a fun game but as for myself and my guild we are passing on it. I am sure those that like open world pvp will thrive here no doubt. GL

This modifying stuff is boarderline insulting.

Faction conflict mmog are the only reason I'm interested in  the mmog genre.

99%of the games that have some form of faction conflict  haven't a clue of what makes a world class conflict game. The tattered remains of DAOC is all that is left of the greatest faction game ever.GW2's WvW is the latest failure.

It would be fantastic to have DAOC like faction conflict !

To me the more changes they try to make, the longer it will take to come out. Since there hasn't been an NDA like ever, from what I have researched, I prefer the game in it's purest state as it was designed.

Having spent plenty of time playing AA. Faction based servers would kill the flow of PvP. The whole point is to fight on a constant for resources, Land to farm and build structures on. Ships to build and pirate from.  There are a lot of elements outside of the norm that come into play from the PvP side. Having one faction locking down the server would kill a lot of the unique elements.

The only additional server that interest me is hardcore server with harsher death penalty and items will eventually worn out to the point it can no longer be repair, it will create a much healthier and competitive in game economy.
