Agree. I no longer have the time in life to be anything but a casual player, still watching this one from a distance, looking to see what happens with "westernization"

I was more looking forward to building in some obscure place.

Sounds a lot like UO and the "might makes right" philosophy of the game designers. If thats in the game when it hits North American shores...I certainly want no part of it.Who wants someone taking all your hard earned items ?

It may turn out to be fun afterall, but at this point, I am not so happy about it. It does not mean I will not try this game. For me, it is one of few interesting MMOs.

In the southern continents, there are specific housing spots, but in the northern (the lawless or "savage" continent) the players will can build in almost every square of the ground.

Nobody wants, and the mmo will provide tools to everyone with a minimal of intelligence avoid or overcome that, or even be the one that takes stuff from others.

I think that even the lax players will have a place in this game. There will be much thing unrelated to fight to be done.

If only people could kill you and take all yor items you had on you.. that would be awesome.. sadly this game wont have that..

In the north you will be able to build all voer the place.. but its lawless so people will be able to siege your house or whatever not 100% sure how it works.. so yes you need to defend it :)

And that is not good. It not just a land rush. It is a content rush! I have to rushed though the content get the land and that is not a good thing. I should be able to play that content on my own pace and still have as much changes and opertunities as player who simply have more time on there hands.

I am not sure if this is really going to be a problem. If you have a nice area together with you clan where you all have you houses even in unsave area. Is it then still very unsave?

This was a concern of mine when it comes to this game. I want to play the game for the housing, crafting, pvp, and farming.

Doesn't sound good to me. I like having housing that I can keep. What good is it if someone can just wait til I log off then go seige my house and take the land.

Jake Song has now said that they will be adding more housing areas to the Southern continents. So that should alleviate some of the crowding.

Also, don't forget players can form a family and share a house so not everyone needs their own individual house, especially if you are just using if for storage and crafting tools.

If you want to decorate and cover every flat surface with Boss kill trophies, then yes, you'll need your own home.

It will work out. You may have to fight hard for a piece of land or ypu might be able tobuyit or it will be gifted to you. If you want a house, youll get one. Its very close to real life it seems. Limited land at higest price, impacted by outside variables. As long as no one can steal my land all else is fair.

So, they can't steal your land but they can tear down your house? Maybe I'm misinformed on this. That I wouldn't mind. If they tore down my house and stuff that's fine, IF I still had my land to rebuild on. If they can just come in and take my house and land, that I wouldn't be ok with.

First off they can only tear down your house AFTER a sucessful siege of a Castle it is placed near on the Northern continent. And there will be plenty of warning of an incoming siege. Defend your castle and your home will be safe.

On the Southern continents no one, NO ONE, can tear down a house. Or why would they be standing waiting on a scarecrow to despawn and not tearing it down? Set permissions, and close your door when you leave and all is good.

    What about sea?

Can You claim property as ashore in protected areas?

Farming/production/industry could be realized at sea too.

    1) Let there be a restriction in numbers of properties per player

    2) Dont make it too easy to achieve property, but still possible to reach if You work hard for it.

Make it possible to hire mercenaries or to build mercenary troops to protect propreties in unprotected areas to make possible attackers think twice before attacing your properties. Scale mercenary forces according to attacking force and let hire-fee be equal either youre a single player or a guild.

    Annnnnnnnd once again

We have western players crying because they actually have to DO SOMETHING to acquire an ingame item/house......

Scroll up and read how these players don't want to put any effort into getting something, its comical. They want 'welfare houses' now lol..

Im actually embarrassed to be a western player at the moment.

This is a great thing XL, don't change a thing. Many of us WANT to work to acquire something and NOT HAVE IT HANDED TO US BECAUSE WE'RE LAZY.

    Good job Jake!

agree. MMO socialism is bullshit. Not to mention boring as hell due to lack of ability to have gradations on achievement. There's always somebody who has more than you, get over it.

Sounds rather unfun to have to rush through the game to claim land, possibly missing on much of the experience. I would understand if you had to PvP your way to claim your land (as in, the last one standing in the patch of land gets it), but having to wait till people get bored or push them off while afk? Sounds like a letdown.

My opinion is my own. I respect all other opinions and views equally, but keep in mind that my opinion will always be the best for me. That's why it's my opinion.

Meh, its not for everyone. But then what is? The people who don't like it have a ton of other choices for MMOs to go play. This is one of the few MMOs that sounds remotely interesting to those of us burned by everything coming out of western developers.

Wait a minute!  I was told we would have free houses and XL would pay for them, now your saying its not free homes for everyone??  Next your going to say if i dont pay the 20k a year for the home youll penalize me or put me in jail.  I guess we should have read the bill before we passed it aye?  All i wanted was for XL to give me everything and keep me 100% safe in a Liberty free enviroment!  No risk but no reward.  OOPS. N/M!

That said, at launch im not going to rush through the game to get a house.  Im going to enjoy the game and if there are no areas left, ohh well.  No ones fault but mine.

I think you came to ArchAge expecting another Fun game where you can play for a couple hours a week or month and still be at the same place as everyone else.

ArchAge is a game for those who takes MMO as an second Life.

Those players that buys the game 1 week after everyone else will be behind , those that play less than 8 hours a day is behind those that plays 9 hours a day.

And you will never get those hours back, once you are behind, unless you have an bench session and other players goes to sleep, you will always be behind.

Thats is what ArchAge is, an epic Hardcore second Life.

And I think thats why there are so many people excited about it, its been a long long while since we had a game where someone could play as their second life.

BTW second Job doesn't even describe this game, its Second Life.

After following archeage for years I disagree very much in Your writing.

To my opinion this is a game suited for all kind of gamers and their available time. I dont need 8 hours a day to enjoy it.

Rushing like mad is an insult of the content which deserve to be enjoyed.

Lets ALL enjoy whatever gametime available.

A ton of other choices? I think not, I am sitting here reading the forums and searching for one game to play. Two gaming rigs being used for text processing because there is no mmoRPG out there at the moment. Or at least none I care to play.

As to this whole land grab thing, the limit placed on safe housing is a design element to encourage open world PvP, theft and ganking. This seems to be the underlying agenda of the sandbox elements of this game.

Not a true sandbox, more of a kitty litter tray in a Paint Ball theme park.

Unfortunately from what was posted by the OP, that isn't really true.

He stated that because he didn't rush, while everyone else did, he was only able to get 1 house, and he isn't having as much fun as those that has 3 houses, and land for farming and animals.

So if I started ArchAge 1 week behind you, you are level 30, i am level 8, by the time I get to level 30 have my Gold ready for houses, there won't be any more land in the safe areas.

How is that suitable for all kind of gamers and their available times.

BTW I am totallly for this game, I love that those that actually knows the in and out of this MMO beforehand actually have some advantage. And the rest of the players will have to gather up and go to the FFA lands for their houses.

That is what MMO should be, dangerous, fun, and suicidal when all your hardwork goes up in flames.

Those were the times when great MMO guilds existed, and people actually have Guild Pride, instead of just the officers having Guild Pride.

I was just pointing out that we shouldn't sugar coat ArchAge from what it is, those with more time and bigger guilds will succeed better than those without, and that is how it should be. MMO isn't the playground for " No children left behind" Its Leave behind the weak so they get eaten giving you time to level.
