Wushu as it stands now is single shard/server, this may change but as a one time long time Eve player I have always been a fan of single server games because they let you really get to know the people playing the game with you...for good or bad.
With that in mind I thought I might be able to talk about some guilds here, and because some people here keep asking for guild information. Here are the ones I have dealth with from time to time.
Vietunited- A group that I believe started off with players from vietnam area, english isn't a strong suit but knowing the mechanics of the game like the back of one's hand is. These folks quickly gathered a lot of school leadership positions and knew how to farm certain abilities from the start. I think as more people are learning Vietunited's grasp on the world power has fallen but at one time they were the head of 4 schools and they are often equiped to the hilt with skills and gear.
Annhilation- This guild isn't really pvp focused or pve focused but they have a hellofalot of members, and the guild hall in chengdu. Little in the way of drama probably a good group to look into if you want a large support group behind you of english speaking players...maybe not the most tight knit group of players though. I have been a member of this guild.
Goontangclan- A new guild, the AoW branch of goon squad .... who eve players know well.. they are loud and brag a lot but I do see them running instances and challanges together so maybe it is a good group to be a part of... idk...they are too obnoxious for my taste. They may be new but certain tactics like killing everyone around a world boss and standing on the path out of the schools during script stealing events has given them a reputation beyond their actual experience.
Longshot- I only know of this guild because when they run escorts they run a small army of escorts...and cut down anyone in their path bandit or not. I was outside suzhou minding my own business when the horde of Longshot ran over me like a freight train.
Carebears- These people kill things, I believe the #1 sinister is in this guild. They recently got the head of WV as well, if you want to join a group that doesn't care if you piss off other guilds or groups have at it. I think they have a higher than normal inner requirement for joining though.
Those are five that just come up off the top of my head. Anyone else been impressed or enraged by a certain guild? There are lots I have not listed including some I see working together for raiding/escorting or challanges all the time so I know there are some other tight groups out there.

Feel free to mention them then :P
I have not done much with those two guilds, either with or against. Though I know demigods is suppose to be pretty large and I see the members around I don't know the guilds structure or history at all. Not to say they are unimportant because of that one person obviously will not experience everything in a open non linear environment like AoW. (I didn't say sandbox!)
In fact I would love to hear some other peoples opinions on guilds I didn't list or ones I did...there are some other smaller groups I have dealt with more than Ninjas like tienlei...who I thought about joining because they seem to be friendly and always running challanges and vievie (spl?) who seem to gather around and rob my carts all day long.
The leader of the Goons made this chart. It shows the well known guilds and who they are allied with. Might be some help in seeing who is who in the game.

Wow, this guy really done his research.
Yes he did. Still my small taste of the game in beta I have 0 interest in it. But I will say some of the mechanics could be very interesting.
This is common among Eve players, in which the use of spreadsheet to study market data is, perhaps, the norm for crafters.
Don't give him too much credit - the chart is very wrong.
