Howdy, Stranger!

It looks like you're new here. If you want to get involved, click one of these buttons!

I can prove AOW is not P2W and reasons why you should play it.

ok Lets start..

How can I prove its not P2W? Because I tried to pay to win in this game and I failed BIG TIME. So forget what all these kids who cant go through the tutorial talk and read what I will write here.

The cash shop now contains only cloth, head, pants skins , ok I can pay to win the contest for most beautiful character in-game , but even these itemss are 30 days duration , wich sucks , all the cash shop cosmetic items have time duration.. ok moving on

The next big argument -> You can buy Gold and convert it to Silver and buy gear from other players and cultivate your skills to max lvl.

Seems p2w right? But the main problem here is that this game is nothing you see before.

"I will buy gold conver to silver and buy all max gear haha I will own muahaha":

The current max gear in the game right now is Silver item , you can craft it so easily , or you can buy from trade market . If you are a fucking lazy person , even like that you can buy a piece of a silver item everyday , and that is for someone really lazy.

Items in this game plays no big part in power as some other games. Its just a bit more defense and boost status , thats the max you can dow for now. - I learned this when I bought all my silver equipament in the first day I deposit some money in this game , and got raped in pvp by NAKED GUYS. Yes im Bad at pvp , yes they are good , but what I mean is , this game is not like other games where u buy max gear and ppl hit you 1 , and you hit them 100.

So if you want to buy gold and convert to silver to buy items now , you are completly dumbass , because you can get the full set enchanted within 1 week of good work , and even like that I dont think its really worth to waste money on gears right now , nothing out there to make you overpowered , so in my opinion you should craft ur own gear and concentrate on being a better pvper.

"I will buy gold convergt to silver and cultivate to max lvl all my skills and internal skills , muahaha I will be #1"

Ok , You can cultivate all your skills to max lvl and your inner too. That will make you strong? Yes , more than buyng gears if u ask me. But here comes the problem. First you will have to earn a lot of experience trough A LOT of gameplay , no matter you intend to use silver to cultivate ur skills or not. Ok but thats not the worst. The Price of using silver to cultivate ur skills , is ridiculous. If u just started and you want to lvl all skills to max and inner to max , you will be looking for something like 20-50ding ( 600USd - 1500USD) , now the sad news? Someone who waste ZERO can reach you within few weeks , and being afk for most of the timne ( offline cultivation ) , wanna hear more sad news? They will catch you no matter what you do , because there is a cap on skills , so they have no hurry , they will reach it and with no much effort. More sad news? ok now you are ahead of them , yet they still can beat you if they are good. Yup bro you waste a lot of dollar and a fkin free player can beat you naked =). Tell me what other game this can happen?

The big point here is , if you waste a lot of money into this game you are the dumbest mfker in the world.

The fkin free casual player can reach everything the most rich player in this game has , with not a BIG GAP OF TIME , and yet if they never cattch , they still can beat him and be competitive.

And thats for the casual , that do daily stuff and logoff . For the hardcore , they ll LAUGH at ppl who waoste money on this game. The game offers many system to you explore , and using your brain to make a plan on how to get the item X , or how to acquire money to buy item Y , is very rewarding.

Now why should you play it? Because thats the best option out there. I hate kung fu settings.. but I love innovative game systems , sandbox elements and oldschool hardcore PVP.

The other games: You run instance , you get gear , you go instance battlegrounds or go raiding. -REPEAT-

This game is FAR FROM PERFECTION , but it offers so many different things , and the best: you decide your progression , the TIME and the ACTIVITY is up to you decide what route to take and how you wanna progress your character. There is no -> go to area click ! -> do quest -> click ? -> go next are. LOL besides the tutorial , you are not following quest paths.

The combat is amazing , it may seems a bit clunky at first and thats because you suck and you dont have skills yet ( flying skills mostly ) , thats the only game where you can faceroll someone who has higher skills or gear than you.

You can build your combat tyle the way you want. You can get skills from the other schools by joinining pvp raids everyday.

This game rewards people who use its brain. In combat , economy , daily events , character progression and cultivation , its all about how YOU wanna to build up , its nothing like smashing buttons and turning in quests.

    Its not abour ur opinion.

If someone is willing to pay 100 dollars to have a gear that everyone can get the EXACTLY same gear in a few days of playng.

Oh and that days he had ahead wont guarantee any win at all - far from it.

Yes he is payng , but tell me where the hell is he WINNING?

Yeah, I'm not going to let you hide behind the "opinions may vary".  Your opinion is simply ignorant.  You are going to call something P2W, regardless of any in-game systems or whether or not paying actually gives you a significant advantage.

Tell me, what the hell sense does that make?

I fully admit the Bega Gift Bag event - that was easily P2W.  There are other game functions that clearly have problems.  Those are valid, and expected, complaints.  Yet, to come here and just throw out some grossly uninformed opinion and stick to your guns when you clearly have no experience with the game whatsoever is just simply stupid.

No opinions should vary about that.

Whether or not you think it's P2W has no bearing, there is already a huge topic on this. Yes I have tried the game, no it wasn't my cup of tea, yes I think the cash shop is overboard with what you can buy there. I mean you even admit to being able to max your skills through using the cash shop. That to me is the definition of P2W whether one can get it just playing the game or not.

This is the most important thing to understand.

Let's take WoW for example. Imagine if your level 1 gear was 5% weaker than your level 80 T11 (or whatever it is now) gear. I'm not talking per piece, I'm talking 5-8% for all your gear. This is what it is in AoW, no exaggeration. This is the least gear dependent game I've ever played.

I mean if a person wants to pay crazy amounts of cash for that, let them. I have no problem with it at all.

How you can max your skills when you even don't have exp to cultivate?

He got that wrong... You need exp.. If you have no XP you can't speed up you cultivation. You still HAVE to play the game.

Hey though if some one want to spend a bunch of cash with a boat load of extra xp sitting around let them. Remember there is a cap. At most they will be one week or so ahead of someone who started at the same time.

No matter how you chop it up, its P2W in some form, whether or not its acceptable is up to you the user.

Thing is, if your going to call Age of Wushu P2W, then you need to say that GW2 is P2W as well as it has the same type of system in place, and in an even stronger form due to the fact you can basically trade for the best gear and gold having a big value in WvW for seige items to boost your ability to perform.

Basically, if your going to call Age of Wushu P2W, your going have to claim other games are P2W as well, and in that form just how much 'P2W' they are will depend greatly on what the user views P2W as.

I did read the whole thing, honestly, people just don't always see eye to eye. Odds are no one who has played the game and come to that conclusion will change their mind, just be happy plenty of others are still playing :)

    LoL.. Listen..

We all know you can't buy anything in the Cash Shop right now as far as equipment and skills that aren't in game... The Pay 2 Win is not of your traditional kind. It's a more varied form of Paying to Win. Whatever really defines a Win in P2W? What the person is winning is not even really the important part here.

The important part is the amounts of irl cash that is being converterd into in game silver that is then used to purchase wares that are at outrageous prices. Purchasing these items at extream prices encourages those who are price gouging to continue to do so and gives them the reason to increase prices on stuff that is only slightly better..

Another thing I keep hearing. Gear doesn't matter.. That is true to an extent but gear is not useless by any means. It adds to hit points it adds to internal points. It adds to damage done and damage reduction. Gear matters.. Skill comes into play when perfoming combat moves properly and "out skilling" a opponnet.

If gear didn't matter then it would not change any stats and you wouldn't see people running around in gear thats all for their school stats and you wouldn't see how some of these players moves are able to kill others in a matter of seconds. Thats' not even the argument here but when I see that, it makes me laugh that people try to convince themselves that things like this do not have an effect on the outcome of fights.

The Paying to Win comes in the form of having to spend more and more just to be on the level playing field with the richest of the rich players. They will have much better gear than you and they will have skills from schools and the Jianghu ones that just makes them seem even more powered by the amounts of money they have put into the game.

They aren't the only player in the realm so of course it's not an absolute shutdwon the server win, but if you are ahead in the race you are currently winning.. amirite?

A bigger problem, imo, is that although there are a lot of shiny graphics, and a decent crafting system, and it has better than average quality, the game is still a HUGE grind, and in that way not much different than the Asian grinders we have been seeing for years. Grind for this, grind for that, grind so you can get your 40 unbound silver, grind for pills, grind this and that daily. Grind, grind, and grind. Nothing wrong with that (if you like those and live in Asia, and make no mistake, this is a direct port job, with the same exact gameplay as is released in Asia) But tastes are a bit different here in the West. And I have a job and don't need another one. AoW is just any grinder.

My only argument to this is that GW2 economy doesn't seem to be inflated in the way AoW is. Inflated in such a way that 30 dollars worth of in game currency can be gone in just one purchase of an item off a shop in game.. Now spending that much is completely on the player of course..

I agree with your post somewhat I just feel the element of "P2W" is a bit more harsh and straight mooney grabbish in AoW.

maybe its not about your opinion either mr 3 post . Its pay to win if you can buy stuff to give an advantage even if for an hour . I wish these asian grinders would stay in asia personally but i wont hate on the people who like them. But pay to win is pay to win suger coat it however way you want , if you pay for something for advantages in a game you are doing pay to win.

Umm all P2W MMOS use same model. All the armor, weapons etc  that you can buy in the cash shop can also be acquired by playing but it takes longer and usually comes with huge grind. So why is it ok to call those MMO P2W but not AOW?

It's a open pvp game so you can't compare it with other games if someone gets everything fast cause of real money it's paytowin he will kill other players that are not spending their paycheck in this game.

You are intentionally being dense with your argument now... You could spend a million dollars and it wont make a difference. Wait I lied you'll WOULD have been 2 weeks ahead.

2 weeks ahead heck even 2 hours ahead would make a difference this is not first person shooter game where you might get a lucky headshot here and there, it's stronger always wins so any difference matters.

I love how people  change definiton of what is considered as P2W as long as it is their favorite MMO in the crosshairs. Not so long ago certain someone was calling GW2 a PZW game..

Out of all the games that have grind this is not one of them. At least its not as bad as other games. I've heard stories of the GW2 grind, and I've singlehandedly experienced the old Darkfall grind (that was fun). Until I have to macro all my skills to 100 again in a game I would NOT call it a grind.

Also consider the fact that your life skills are capped daily, effectively eliminating any grinding you try to achieve. Practice martial arts is also capped daily by x amount of silver. Team practice is capped.

Honestly I applaud Snail or whomever who put down countermeasures to prevent the grind, and instead reduce the grind to aspect which involve teamwork and encourage PvP (such as spying). Now, anyone such as yourself can define spying and patrolling as "grinding" but when you do that one has to ask if you are enjoying the game at all, or if you're just racing to the end blindly as so many western MMOs have taught us.

You right Doogie. Pre-Launch I had some real concerns, cash shop buffs being used in WvW. After I played I said I was wrong on more than one occasion. To be fair though I have never called GW2 p2w. I had real concerns about he cash shop and gems for gold.

The funny thing is AoW is no more p2w than GW2. The biggest difference is that money can be made in AoW easier and earlier.

What part of CAP do you not understand. Let me break it down.

Let's say I start a toon today. I spend $50,0000 I have reach my gear cap. I still have to earn 2weeks of XP for skills though.

Let's say you start a toon today. 2 weeks later you reach gear cap. Over those two weeks you have earned enough xp to max my skills.

Again if some one wants to pay money for that let them.
