Mithril Coins. These coins are new store-purchased currency that's coming in Update 10 and will be used for a variety of in-game activities.

Basically, the use of Mithril Coins is Turbine's way of streamlining several different smaller store options into a flexible currency. These coins can be used as replacements for revive tomes, stablemaster's writs, daily quest resets, and fast travel to quest NPCs.

Looks similar to what they already have in Rift. I hope lotro doesn't go the way of Rift with thousands of different in game currencies.

It's a shame you can't buy mithril coins with in game gold. To be honest the in game money is starting to become less than useless. I've got well over 20 gold on my 65th level champion and apart from the odd dye I have't seen a need to spend any for months (apart from for armour repair and travel). In game currency needs more value, but I suppose the trouble is it's free...

I wonder if this means they are also taking away the one free revive? That's not good.

Although the picture on the dev blog showed the current revive button and then a picture replacing it with a cost in mithril button.

...not that I used revive much of course. :p

I recall Gene Simmons of the rock-group KISS saying once that anything that can have a KISS logo on it, should have a KISS logo on it. It seems LotRO has adopted a policy of anything that can be monetized should be monetized. I remember glff chats with jokes like, "Increase your Ignore List capacity--only 15 Turbine Points!" :D

Well, I see more positive things in mithril currency than negative.

    Current situation:lots of writs, tomes.

Future situation: one token to rule 'em all, be it writ or revival.

it may be just convenience: for players. I could chose if I want to revive for, say, 12 mithril coins, or to ride 12 times for 12 mithril coins. No need to have tomes of [enter text] and [enter text] writs.
