Well there it is, excellent choice and it makes sense considering several factors:

    1. Trion has Rift up and running in S. Korea, so they have good connections with Korean companies and have done localization work before

    2. Trion and XLGames are both partners with Crytek, as CryEngine 3 is what AA runs on. This one is pretty huge as Trion has expertise with Crytek server back end as they are already publishing Warface which uses the same engine. I think US Warface beta just launched this week.

    3. Trion has an excellent record as far as content patches and hosting services stability

    4. I think (pure speculation on my part) is that the execs at both companies XLGames and Trion just get along well

Really looking forward to beta testing AA soon :)

    DM,

When is it forecasted to launch? Was it at the end of this year? Is it still on track for that?

And ty for your heads up the other day regarding the NA publisher notification. Its great having an 'insider' that knows a bit of info....

From what I hear both XL and Trion have commited a LOT of efforts to get AA launched this year.

The voice action and cutscenes should be the only tough part, provided they don't do some major graphic or game-play rework.

Look what the fan base accomplished in the two scant weeks of the OBT. They translated the UI and some other functions windows, and each time the Language patch was broken by an engine update they fixed the patch that same day. I can only hope that Trion would be at least as efficient.

Knowing Trion (I play RIFT), I trust them completely to handle this well.

    There it is there folks.

Hes been right multiple times in the past with his 'predictions/forecasts', so in all likelihood you can take this to the bank.

Trion already had to fire 1/3 of the staff of their only launched game because they spread themselves too thin.  Trion is the best in the business at medum budget marketing which is great news for ArcheAge, but next to zero resources should be used on anything to do with the game itself until they get their other games under control.  EoN is a mess, Defiance looks to be mediocre and with hartsman and a significant chunk of the veteran staff gone Rift's future is very uncertain.

While i myself don't like Rift for what it is. (A shallow instance Tier item & Instance grinder), as a Publisher Trion did good.

There have been News Banner all over big gaming sites and adds in magazines. I could buy game boxes even in a local grocery here.

    A solid choice from XLGames.

    Playing: EVE Online
Wants to play: ArcheAge, Lineage Eternal: Twilight Resistance / Star Citizen / FFXIV AAR / Neverwinter

Used to play for 5+ years: Lineage 2, Lord of the Rings Online and Ragnarok Online

Utter disappointing MMO experience for 1 - 3 Months:
    WAR / AoC / SWTOR / RIFT / AION / STO / TSW / GW2 / GW / Vanguard / Planetside2

Exactly this is why Trion gets the job.  They advertise, and are masters of spin/PR.

If only SoE advertised like Trion does, because Archeage would be a nice addition to the station pass.  But Trion is the better choice because they know how to market, SoE is so clueless on that end.

This is the best I can make out of this result. The problem with both foreign and worse 3rd party publisher is that they often have not much insight about the game at even worse usually lack insight into developmentcycles/process and what going to happen in the future. They cant make the best of the marketing even if they wanted to, because of barriers like language gap and lack of direct involvement of the development process or correctly refering back feedback to the developer and react to critisism and problems of gamers. While some people say they have experience with Korea due to the Korean Rift release. Seriously, this gamedisaster cant be considered a pro.

I just hope these guys never touch AA, never even fiddle with drop and xprates and try to turn it into their next poor WoW clone.
