Is Black Deserts the real Elder Scrolls Online?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=SNFSw107MQs

It seems like it has more features relevant to an Elder Scrolls game.  Action combat, mounted combat, housing, seamless world, plus the aesthetics are similar.  It has a very western, almost Tolkien-esque look.

    i was pretty impressed until I seen the character combat and models and you could tell a mile away it had eastern written all over it. But game world looks decent and large. They need to work on character models animation and combat skills before I would even call that western influenced personally.

    You could always tell them on facebook. Even though they are a korean company, they actively reply in English and answer any questions and feedback on their game's progress.

    I at least have to see one Korean MMO that doesnt suck, then we can talk about the future of MMO's.  Yes ive seen all the turds that have come out of their dev houses, and still waiting for ONE that doesnt A socially creep me out, B insult my intellegence, C bore me to tears, D hurt my eyes to look at or E have the movement control of a pregnant cow.  At this pont they need to stick to making cartoons and point and click browser games.  And Im pretty sure AA is going to disappoint a boat load of people as well.

    Looks very AoC to me, which is good imo.  But, I've learned to not make judgements based on game trailers, intro movies, or any sort of doctored up pre-launch hype material.  Been burned too many times.  Still, I'd love to see this game perform as it would be only good for all of us who are currently searching for that next interesting and fun mmo.

    Why do you make it sound wrong that a Korean developed game has Eastern written all over it?

    And if by 'work on their animation' you mean make them more stiff and grounded to the Earth to simulate realism, then HELL NO.

    Everything else in that video looked horrible, except for mounted combat, which of course almost made me start up Mount&Blade again.. But yeah, over epic animations, super skills and the whole action-JRPG package = not my cup of tea.

    Long story short: Looks nothing like TES.

    PS. Now that I went through it again quickly, I can instantly tell that those bright flashes with every swing of the sword give me a headache. Oh god if I would have to suffer such for a good 1 - 5 hours gaming session. :(

    PPS. Actually, the mounted combat looks too fast and twitchy button mashing, instead of strategy, skill and execution.

    We?re all dead, just say it.

    AA is also on rails quest grinder, with tab target combat  1+2+3+4 spam that crap has been in MMOs since EQ, No ty.

    Almost all upcoming MMOs have actipny combat.

    ArcheAge doesnt look that impressive if you watched some streams from open beta you would see that game is nothing like trailers charachter models are also bland and boring.....

    I will take Black Desert anytime before AA, and it has more sanbox elements than AA.

    Their character models, environments and textures are very well done.  I can see they have a solid and talented art department on par with CD Projekt Red.  However, those "asian" character combat animations just kills it for me.  Just a preference of course.

    Um.....Err....No......? The character models don't look any more eastern than they do western..they're proportionate and look ultra-realistic. Are you assuming they won't have any sort of character customization so that you might make characters who look oriental vs caucasian etc....??? Because otherwise I don't see what you're saying about them having eastern written all over them.

    Prediction: World looks awesome, but every bit of character customization was shown in this video, including the Legolas and Gandalf looks.

    This is why every western release of the past 3 years has played like crap. I don't want life like models at the cost of life like game play.

    At the moment, Black Deserts is a bunch of pretty videos and nice promises. I'd wait until we see at least ten minutes of pure gameplay.

    Teso=test

    BD=BD

    I see no similarity or attempt to plaigarize the elder scrolls franchise here.

    On a side note BD doesnt look that bad. Korean mmorpgs>ALL. This is what 2012/2013 has taught me.

    This thread is an example of why there's a correlation between western MMOs and horrible communities.

    Lets just welcome our korean overlords....

    Atleast they dont base their games on early first decade games (only on lineage...)

    I got as far as 1:25 in and when I seen the little Japanamation character models I promptly closed it out.  Up until that point the world was impressive but I don't see how it has more features like TESO, than TESO from just watching a video.  No way to tell how the mechanics work.

    Not wanting to go into merit here...

    But TESO gameplay videos dont exactly show much either

    Besides, you watched 1/5 of the video, practically the intro of it and closed on intolerance and expect to see many features? ;D

     1. I dont care what anyone says, 3:30 mark...now THAT is an escort quest!

    2. Korea has had the pulse of the MMO market for a very long time. The Lineage games had Asian combat but a western world for a long time, NCsoft is Korean and they proved with Guild Wars 1 they were making games with a Western market in mind. Nexon another Korean company is the second largest game company on the planet now behind only EA in terms of profits, think about that for a second...Perfect World, they opened offices in America and Europe and hired developers to make western style updates for their asian games a few years ago because they want their games to be for everyone...how many companies do that?

    So, with games like Lineage, Guild Wars, Tera...Archeage, Black Deserts is not a surprise to me!
