This game... I feel like I'm just wondering around lost. I've gone thru the guides and some of the story quest, I've never been PKed, nor have I even found someone to PK. All I do is click and let autopath take me where I need to go...
I did end up going to the forest (I'm Shaolin) and doing TP twice now and I have my internal skill to 7 but I still don't know what I'm doing.
I just did the kidnapping tutorial piece and did some little 'instance thing' where I was suppose to have a team but I solo'd it easy (also got the 3 array team skill from the guy).
All that said, I'm completely lost of what I'm supposed to be doing or what the point is.
I feel like there needs to be a nice guide for players to explain everything, but I odubt that happens because of all the features, it'd just be massive.
I purchased Deluxe and activated it.
Can anyone tell me one thing maybe I should try to do tonight during my playtime? Give me a goal? Should I try to get a craft maybe? All I know is I'm just doing random quests that appear on my log, I'm Shaolin, the only skills I have are Long-Style Boxing (aren't Shaolin supposed to use staves?). I saw some video guide in this forum (haven't watched it yet as I'm at work), but it said I needed to buy two skills. I haven't bought any, only learned what's been given to me.
I know this is rambling mess, but I think I like this game, I'm just lost.

Take a step back. Take a deep breath. Clear your thoughts. There, young Shaolin, that is better.
Don't expect the game to lead you much beyond the tutorial. Go out and make a living, you will find jobs and activities. You can do some farming or hunting, maybe kidnap someone or spy on other temples. Maybe you just want to travel and meditate.
It can be confusing since the game does not lead you as much as the standard themepark mmo.
Enjoy.
Man... I was in the same boat... so overwhelming due to a real lack of a tutorial and a lot of complexity and depth. This game is really a true to form period sandbox.
Things that are important that you need to progress:
Experience - The best thing to do (especially if not guilded) is Spy quests (160XP). Exp converts for a deluxe player at 380/tick (100 sec) you can also do quests but the XP is VERY poor in comparison. 1 Exp = 1000 cultivation so 999 (max) Experience is a ton of cultivation.
Cultivation - Cultivation is converting Experience in to a usable form to advance. The best way right now is Team Practice which you can do until 100% fatigue (100% fatigue = 100k cultivation). Don't forget to pray! you have a chance to get a special pill which ENHANCES your Exp to Cultivation rate by 250%. If you happen to be in your school area you can join patrol (speical NPC gives this) which also enhances converion by 10%. You can convert 1368 cultivation / tick with pill and patrol.
Reputation - You can quest, instance, and do some events to get some rep which will advance you in school in terms of titels etc.
Crafting/Harvesting - This you can do daily to a point... there are 2 pitfals 1) you have a vigor pool that limits the amount of activity you can perform in a given period 2) you can only acumulate a fixed amount of crafting XP per day. You can craft beyond this however you will not gain more XP.
Some other things that are pretty cool are kidnapping, active patrols just hit "N" by default and you have a whole list of tasks you can do.
Aside from the above basics the best thing I can say is enjoy the game. explore, soak up the environment and culture... It really has a lot of depth you just have to let go of the standard "rush to the end" mentality.
What are your other Hobbies?
Gaming is Dirt Cheap compared to this...
If you did the mini instance tonight as part of your story quest I would go back to shaolin mountain and learn your second set of martial arts. Also as the above mentioned try school spy it is an interesting take on stealth in an mmo as you go deep into the heart of another school and try not to be seen, the rewards are the best you can get exp wise.
That said, it's not like you're supposed to do anything in particular - this game lets you carve your own path and gives you the tools, but the rest is up to you.
I appreciate all the replies, looking for to my time in game tonight.

Script steel tonight! It starts at 7pst.
Go to shaolin temple about 15 minutes before 7, open you map and clik on the blue book looking thing. This guy is the Library Master. At 7 you will be able to click him and be transported to 1 of 2 schools.
The object is to steal scripts and flee the scene! It could be omgwtf hard or it could be just like a stroll in the park, either way I suggest you start doing them now. Scripts sell for a lot, and you may even get something you want to use.
Asking in school/guild chat and browsing forums will clear up a lot of your confusion.
This is what I did last night. Did my first Spy mission, got PKed while doing it by someone who didn't even 'expose' me. Wasn't a big deal, I got my 10 bits of information and hit 'leave'. WOOPS. Just lost all my progress.
Did a patrol mission, exposed a spy that was much stronger than me and got killed. Then got a tell from the Spy telling me I was dumb and that I should leave people alone. ??
Did the event to protect scripts at 7pm. Couldn't tell who to attack or not to attack, just attacked who other people in my school were attacking but they did tell me you could see them with backpacks. Couldn't damage any of them, and didn't get any rewards for it because I never returned any scripts.
Much better night, but I still have tons of questions...
Mainly what control scheme do you guys use, because I use traditional and using RMB to block and trying to strafe is impossible...

As for getting killed by higher lvl players, well... Don't attack them until you've leveled up? Sometimes exposing them is enough as they'll be attacked by others who can handle them better.
Rmb needs to be rebound asap, using it for blocking really gimps you if you're used to turning your char with it.
