I usually give my mom old computers from my wife and I, her current computer, something is broken in it, may be the motherboard having problems, not sure. I tried to figure it out a couple times, but as it is an older computer, it is not worth fixing imo, especially with the cost of a new computer/laptop.
She has wanted a laptop for a while, so I suggested she get a lap top, and hook up a her keyboard and monitor at the house, to use it like a desktop when shes home in the computer room, but she can also move it around or take it on vacations and such. This way she doesn't have to buy a desktop and a laptop.
She does not play MMOs or anything demanding, she mostly plays like some jewels type game, can't remember the name on yahoo games, and she plays cards, and does email/internet stuff....So she is not a power user.
From reading on here, AMD processors are better at things with no graphics card added? Does this matter at the level of computer she needs? I do not know laptops that well, and I am usually buying a higher end desktop with a graphics card, so this is a different area for me.
So I am looking for suggestions for a laptop that will do what she does, is not sluggish at doing them, and comes with windows 7. She has vista now, and she is very computer illiterate, so I do not think having her learn windows 8 is a good idea, especially since I am using 7 still. I may be getting a new computer in a few months, but she doesn't want to wait. She also would prefer something in the 14-15ish inch size.
I was looking at some A6, or i3 laptops, I imagine they would work well, just don't know if that is overkill for her needs, or if it is best to not go lower than that. Thanks for the help/info.
