Vanguard sage of heros

in Vanguard: Saga of Heroes
I have played alot of mmorpg and still none have compared to Vanguard. I see all the post saying i would like a game that had this and that. Vanguard has it all other than pvp. sorry.  It is  F2P so try it out. There is no other mmorpg like it out there, Or dont try it and stay on these forum complaining about how there is no good game out there.  This game has housing ,ships, tons of mounts and flying mounts. A great community so give it a go ill be there.  I am just writing this cause i feel bad for people that havnt played or played it during launch and didnt like the bugs.  Hope to see u in game.

    The trouble with Vanguard is that it's done... SOE have it on life support and it will never see another update. It might be a good game but many players are reluctant to play an MMO that will never see any future improvements.

    Vanguard has a full dev team now and is being regularly updated

    didn't it get several updates plus a new dungeon called city of brass?

    yeah, it has a full dev team now lol...they've started doing a lot of work on Vanguard.

    It's on lifesupport alright, been for a long f time. barely any players for an mmo to sustain itself.

    Guess people don't REALLY want a MMO that goes back to the classic times.

    Author, next time you try to get game more attention, at least spell its name properly.

    VSOH will always be tainted by the rocky launch.  People are reluctant to give second or third chances in this MMO market.  I feel like while it is a decent game, it had it's shot and totally failed.  Good game or not it needs a population to be a playable MMORPG.

    No one is expecting this to have millions upon millions of players. However it is "not on life support".

    Every time I try it its still a little to buggy for me. And the water always looks like garbage! Original EverQuest had better looking water...

    Sorry, but it just ruins the scenery for me when I can see right through the slightly cloudy mostly see through stuff thats supposed to be water. It does have a slight shimmer at the right angle though.

    has much as i love vanguard i think your right..once eqnext is out i believe this game will lose its remaining fan base.the shame is that never again will we see a game of this magnitude.all those races,classes ,starter areas.man the game is just amazing.such a shame they cocked up the release otherwise this game would have been a massive success.

    It is funny all you mmorpg fan so  you say. I want stuff like old school mmo  and more content. I read the post all the time. I think u guys have no idea what u want and just want to complain  it not that i forgot the (e) in the name it about a bunch of kids that want to wine just to wine. It is a great game with new updates and good amount of players. There is a ton to do and for f2p what is there to lose? Well i am done, trollers keep on trolling.

    I played Vanguard for awile my biggest issue with the game is not alot of endgame content it was a great game but that kills it for me i will play it again soon but dont know when.

    Adding more devs and providing more regular updates doesn't mean players will magically come back. If they did, I'd play the game again asap. What they need to do is move Brad Mcquaid onto the EQ Next dev team and shut Vanguard down. The game is amazing and was amazing even back in the day imo, but sadly first impressions are everything and Vanguard had what many to consider to be the worst in big budget AAA MMO history.

    I actually had fun back at launch doing everything like adventuring, crafting, and as well as diplomacy.  It was an enjoyable experience for me way back.  Then got bored and quit like many others out there.  Went back in to take a peek when f2p came out.  To my surprise the gameplay experience actually got worst than way back.  Ugly background as well as absolutely non fluid character animations.  Such a shame.  It had so much potentials too...

    I get advise to look for this game here, on forum, and I looked it.
    Seems it f2p with very limited content, same as LoTRO, Tera or even WoW starter account.
    If you want to play whole content you need to pay Premium service which means again like 10$ per month of sub.
    I mean for this money I have large choice of premium MMO to play, so why I gonna play semi empty game when I can do better.
    May be they need to make it attractive before starting to charge. To play for free with limited content seems not attractive at all, as I don't like hit the wall before I got my opinion about this game.

    I got same issue with LoTRO which I found not as good as I imagine, but I got trapped and stuck at the point when choice of to pay or to leave imposed. As I got like no time to be hooked, I just left.
    one more similar experience would not add any fun of my game playing.

    agree with guys who declare that good game does not need to call for players.

    try before buy, even if it's a game to avoid bad surprises.
    Worst surprises for me: Aion, GW2

    Wow, I didn't know that. Everything else I said is still true though. He wasn't originally working for SoE when he created Vanguard. He even says in that interview you linked how much better the game runs now(compared to when he launched it).

    There might be hope for Vanguard now though. Seems like Brad is a good idea man but he needs to be brought down to reality. You can say what you want about Smedly but I strongly believe he was the glue that brought all the magic that was EQ1 together.

    Trouble with Vanguard is they only took each component to the "good enough" mark instead of good or great.

    Great environmental graphics, but no water reflection, bad character graphics and bad animations.

    Great job on making classes different from other games (i.e bard that makes it's own songs), but still classes that can't be customized, multiclassed or learn new skills.

    They have housing, but only a few styles per continent.

    They have flight, but only a few types of flying mounts.

    Crafting that is usefull, but such a click fest and gather grind - way way too much.

    Give them props on diplomacy, as far as I know it's unique, but wholly sheesh it's boring, and... just a card game.

     

    So overall, it's a nice break from some games but I can only play a couple weeks at a time, because it's just... ok.

    Just because you don't like it doesn't mean it is bad.

    Probably because we don't really hear a whole lot about it. I mean, it's not really "in our face" like, say, GW2 or WoW or whatver new game comes out.

    I tried it, and admit it has some clever game mechanics that some other games should adopt, but it someohow just failed to entertain me.  Some games just lack that spark of excitement - SWtOR is another example of this.
