Last night I made a forum post on the offical SWTOR forums explaining the reasons as to why I was leaving SWTOR. It wasnt flaming, or trolling, it was just valid reasons as to why I quit because I just wanted to get my point across and get feedback from other players, even maybe let them talk me into staying.

2 mins later it was deleted

 

so I posted it again....
 

I tried a third time and apparently I was banned from the forums for 20 mins. I contacted Customer service support who said I had been banned for "flaming and trolling".

 

I understand now when people are saying that Bioware are not listening to thier playerbase. What is the point in not being able to give feedback? How are they suppose to improve on thier game if I am not able to share my opinions with other players?

    Bioware ceased to be years ago, you're dealing with EA, working as intended unfortunately. They don't care why you left.

    Regardless of how nice you were being, Bioware saw it as being negative and could potential scare away customers.

    Dont take it personally OP, vote with your wallet. SWTOR is a cancerous game that you are better off without.

    Never understood why people repost deleted posts expecting not to be banned.

    Game forums are not public property.  It's no different than if you went into a department store holding up signs that their service is crappy, they have every right to escort you off their property and ban you from returning.  But as with a crappy department stores, you don't need to stand there and hold up a sign, people figure it out over time and it shuts down as their competition does a better job, so no worries.

    9/10 do not let you post a so called "good bye" thread as they tend to quickly derail in to garbage filled flame-fests

     

    Same goes for re-opening closed topics (this is usually lumped in under the trolling clause)

     

    So no matter how much you feel you have the right to tell a bunch of people who do not give a penny your feelings on leaving SWToR you were in the wrong here and you decided to resolve it in the most immature way you could (ok actually i can think of a few more immature ways.. but it is not by much). There is (or was at least for me) a fairly detailed survey you had to fill out when closing your account that also give you the option to write further commenst on why you are leaving. This then goes directly to the marketing department so they can evaluate why they lost you as a customer (trust me.. i have worked with handeling stuff like that.. not for BW but still.. It is dead boring but get done any wayt)

     

    So take a bacon-buttie and chill your behind.

    If that sort of thing bothers you, then your mistake was buying something from EA.  Because as has been noted above, there is no more Bioware, but only EA.  And the solution is to not buy anything else from EA.

When I left Warcraft back in 2007, the changes that happened to my resto druid, i was actually talked back into staying from helpful advice from other balance druid, that one post and helpful tips and advice from other players kept me with WoW for another 5 years.

    People may say "oh well you should make up your own mind", but I personally welcome the opinions and advice from fellow players to help me make up my mind, and if EA wont allow me to do that when I pay them a monthly fee then something is wrong!

    Post what you posted there, here. Otherwise we're just listening to one side. And it's really easy to criticize that side when you admit that you kept reposting over and over again after they kept deleting your post. I mean, that's just straight annoying.

    Doesn't matter why you left. You could have stated that you left cause the game was so good it was making you get bad grades. They still would have deleted it. Goodbye threads are bad for business. Bottom line.

    When i leave a game, i just leave. I dont try to get my 15 seconds of fame. Just leave is the mature thing to do. People already know why the game sucks lol. Unless its a major issue there isnt need for everyone that leaves the game because they hate it to post a message ;) Otherwise you are just looking for attention, and by reposting it a second time kind of proves that.

         Tis a shame what is happening to EAware..  Bioware that used to have a good name in the RPG industry, is quickly becoming mud..  SWTOR not only failed in most peoples eyes, but following actions or lack of actions by Bioware is also effecting future $$$ by ruining their image..  People that used to support Bioware games are now putting Bioware on the "do not touch" list all because of SWTOR..  I can only assume that Disney will have something to say about the Star Wars IP in the future and unless there are some major changes, I can see Disney pulling the plug..  And I used to think no one could screw up an IP worse than  Cryptic did with Star Trek.. (WRONG).. lol

    Did you read the rest of my post, you are not (within the rules of the forum) given permission to post "goodbye" threads and time upon again open a locked thread is considerd trolling.

    Most MMO O-boards delete negative amd farewell posts, but there are other forum sites that you can post your feedback and the reasons you left. I am also curious as to why you left, but I am certain the reasons will be similar (if not the exact same)  as I and well over a million of others have left.

    I agree with Ono,it's best to just leave and be done with it.Many people post negative word's just to get attention or encite other's and flames/troll's usually always follow.

    SWTor main board's have been squelching this sort of thing from the beginning,can't say that I blame them.

    Your theory of bad businesses shutting down no longer applies thanks to F2P.  When games were sub based yes, if your game was bad nobody would pay to play and it would eventually close down, but people will play bad F2P games all day long............

    Players don't have that survery if they play SWTOR using time cards.  The subscription just runs out quietly, so the only feedback EA could possibly receive would be via the forums.

     

    Conceivably, EA could email a survey, but they don't, which leads back to EA not caring why someone let their playtime expire (which someone else already mentioned).

    Ok did not know that. My bad.

     

    The correct way to do it is still to submit a ticket with feedback (or post it in a non "i am leaving" way) instead of breaking the forum rules.. and then break them again two times just because "I am a special snowflake and EVERYBODY needs to know my plight".

     

    It is not like the OP got a perma-ban or anything. Just a slight slap on the wrist saying "dont do that again"

    there are certain rules, like everywhere.

    gaming companies do not like "good bye, i am leaving" posts. they never did, they have been deleted in nearly every game.

     

    so, welcome to online gaming kiddoe. uh and if you are just here to tell us you are leaving let me ask you one question:

     

    why didn't you just leave? would have spared you alot of time..... ^^

    Let me just say this, and folks can check my post history about ea/bioware. I don't care what game company you post this in. The going away threads are always deleted. Go try that over in LOTRO and see how quick you get panned by sapience and get personal hate tells for him.

    Just saying the going away threads in most games are always moderated. Now you can come to this site and post them and hope you don't get burned.

    Anybody knows this is common practice on just about any official game forums out there. Oh try it in eq2, and see how quick they deal with you, after you get dog piled on.

    I'm pretty sure it's against the forum rules to post "i'm quitting" threads, regardless of how well-meaning they are.  And to be fair, they do get old after a while.

    Then create a post asking for advice on how to approach your class or whatever else your problem is.  Creating a "i'm quitting" thread under the guise of looking for discussion with players is counterintuitive, unless the threat of quitting is just a bluff in the first place.
