Anyone mention to the OP that a quality video card is going to run him 1/3rd his budget?
I noticed someone posted a long part list and left out the video card which is in the top 2-3 most important items of a gaming rig lol...
The idea is that he'll continue to use the GeForce GTX 560 that he already has for a while longer, and then build an otherwise excellent rig around it. At some point in the future, he'll decide that the GTX 560 just isn't getting it done anymore, upgrade that, and still have a very nice gaming rig. I think that makes more sense than replacing the video card today and cutting back on everything else.
Depending on what games he picks up in the future, a GeForce GTX 560 might be good for another several years. Or it might not. But it's still a capable card, and it should be quite a while before there are meaningful games that it can't handle at least at moderate graphical settings.
Wow thanks a lot guys for posting, so should I go with Rides computer build then? It leaves me with some money left over which I wouldn't be sure what to do with haha.
EDIT: I read all your posts Quizz, thanks a lot man. I got lost in some of the stuff you were saying, but I really want to learn about PC building and stuff like this.
Oh, hey guys, if I was going to order a better PC case, which one do you think I should get? I still have close to $300 left after just ordering those other parts (excluding the PC case)
And, some of the parts I ordered say Purolator Ground (International), I've only ordered 1 thing across the border before, and when they showed up they asked for another $50 because of some cross border fee, will they do the same thing here?
Well I don't know what to do guys, I'm trying to get Ride's PC parts that he suggested, the total is going to be $912.86 with express shipping, (which I need the parts by Friday) and I called up Purolator to see if I need to pay any cross-border fees when they show up to my door, they give me like 3 different numbers to call, nobody knows. And $912.86 is almost all of my bugdet, if they show up to my door and ask for more fees I won't have enough to cover for everything...
One of the reasons why I picked NCIX for you is that they're based in Canada, so if you're also in Canada, there's no cross-border shipping. If you're finally ready to place an order, I'll update my original build for you. But the reason I said to wait until you were ready to buy before coming back is precisely so that this wouldn't happen.
Ya I have everything in front of me now, I wasn't trying to waste your time, but the situation I'm in as to how I'm able to pay over the internet kind of screwed me, but I'm ready now.
As compared to my previous build, you end up getting a power supply and case that aren't as nice, but still decent, and everything else is basically equivalent.
You also end up paying $8 more for the processor, $9 more for memory in addition to losing a $10 rebate, $10 less for the case in addition to gaining a $10 rebate, $2 more for the optical drive, $10 more for the hard drive, and $5 more for the OS. So you end up paying a little more for a machine that is a little less nice, but it will still be good and fit your budget.
Unless, of course, you dither for a few more days and prices change again, in which case, you're on your own.
No. If it dies right away, you can return it for replacement. If it takes several months to die, then it should still be under warranty from the hardware vendor (Intel, Corsair, MSI, etc.).
Extended warranties tend to be mostly profit for the vendors that offer them--which is precisely why they offer them. If you charge 10% for an extended warranty that only 2% of your customers will ever collect on--and the hardware will likely be much cheaper by the time they do--then you make a lot of money off of the customers that are dumb enough to buy the extended warranty, without losing the sales of those who aren't. You're better off bearing the risk yourself.
Crap, I put the order in backwards lol, the billing adress and shipping adress should be switched around, but the orders already been placed. No way to fix that?

You would have to contact NCIX about that. It might be possible to cancel the order and then place it again.
I don't want to take any chances canceling it, and find out it ordered twice or something. I opened a ticket with the NCIX guys. Thanks a lot everyone, Quizz. Hopefully everything gets here by Friday and I'll have it built by Friday night. I might post a picture of it complete too, if I remember.

Ok.
You have our permission to pull the trigger.
Good. XD
All right. Here's what you can do. Go with the same build as before, except that you replace the original components by:
This power supply for $70:
http://ncix.com/products/?sku=67325&vpn=HCG%2D620M&manufacture=Antec&promoid=1033
This memory for $69:
http://ncix.com/products/?sku=76779&vpn=PV316G160C0K&manufacture=Patriot&promoid=1033
This case for $70, before a $10 rebate:
http://ncix.com/products/?sku=66063&vpn=CC%2D9011014%2DWW&manufacture=Corsair&promoid=1360
and this SSD for $150:
http://ncix.com/products/?sku=76780&vpn=CSSD%2DF240GB3%2FRF&manufacture=Corsair

To double check, this is everything I need?

You also need an OS if you don't have it already. And now the memory is out of stock. Well, this will work:

Or if you'd rather save some money and only get 8 GB, then you could get this:
