I have been disappointed by some games in my time but this game wins hands down now. I was greeted by gold sellers and spammers at every tier, every group (1 or 2 people at ever tier) wanted to grind champ rats to power level (most of them probably were leveling services).

At every turn I ran into people exploiting terrain in the game, 99.9% of the population could not read English, I mean this game has become the laughing stock of MMOS, I mean it is dead at every tier now (I cannot beleive what I experienced today).

For those thinking of returning, I will give you some great, errr, hmm....nah make that grand advice, do not sub to this game, you will regret it (I did today and I loved Warhammer online).

This game straight up brought an emotional response out of me when I logged in looking for PvP action.

Heed my words, STAY AWAY FROM THIS mess of a MMO.

And this is news how...? Most people have know that for years.

That being said last time i checked it out at least the "euro" server was fairly healthy and you could get some decent PvP going from time to time. But ofc people will be grinding to get to the top teir as the game is so top heavy it makes Pamela Andersson look like Twiggy

With all that being said... Use the free trial first to check the game out. it is free and give you a glimps of what the game will be about.

The game was the best PvP MMO i ever played, and one of the best MMO's hands-down. Sadly it didn't last. This isn't news, though. You shouldn't expect a grand experience logging in to an old MMO in decline.

I have a tier 4 Slayer and a tier 4 Black guard. My Sorc is in tier 3 and Rune priest in tier 2 so yeah, I did make it to tier 4.

Oh yea, I don't bull shit.

Tier one was booming with action on both sides 99% of the population being trials (did see flips at higher tiers but the groups were mi nute).

I made the same mistake this summer.

When it released I had a lot of fun for a few months but what made me quit were the bugs and fps-drops rather than the gameplay itself.

The journey from level 1 to 40 will still be one of my favourite experiences in a MMO, so don't blame me for paying for one month subscription to check it out, I really had no way to know what kind of crap I was paying for, other than reading forum posts and complaints which we know are not always accurate (tastes are subjective, remember?).

The free trial let's you play in tier 1 empire only, and it is not an accurate mirror of the rest of the game maps, since 90% of the players you meet in tier 1 are, like you, trial accounts.

So, to the OP, good point to make a thread. Who knows, maybe it will prevent EA from getting a few more monthly subs they don't deserve, even if just one player will not resubscribe thanks to this post, it will still be worth.

You know i often wonder what happend to this game.  It had a HUGE launch, and then had subs for a few months afterwards.

It just seems like they would have had enough money from that alone to turn the game around and polish it...hell AOC was able to do it and that game was lighyears behind the needed polish that WAR needed.

Its like they took the money, then rushed out a bit of content, and then when the game stopped growing they just sat back and let it die...

I mean they are not even attempting to go full f2p, like they just dont even care anymore.  A developer that cares does all they can to turn the game around, even if it means biting the bullet and making it completely free with a cash shop ect...in order to get more people in game and turn it around.  Last i played it was a ghost town.

What happend?  All the needed was some class balance, a rework of the PQ system and renown system, and some new endgame pvp stuff and this game would have survived as at least a medium populated game.

Have they done anything significant with the game since launch?

    No.

Normal MMO ADDS content as it ages. WAR REMOVES content as it ages.

It started out as an Open World game(oPvP+RvR+PQs+PvE). Out of all those things only RvR is still standing. i.e. Only 10-15% content is still being used. Shame...

    Huge potential, zero delivery.

^ THIS! if AoC could pull it off being the horrendous disaster it was at launch...and return from it's ashes to become the successful mmo it came to be (taking into consideration how it started) WHY THE FUCK couldn't these guys pull it off with the decent amount of success the game had at launch?! I mean it is the number one mmo in my list of best pvp experiences, and after reading this post i realised im not alone goddamnit!

It's still a love and hate situation it seems.

At some point in time they had to make a choice and they chose for us the hardcore PvP/RvR community, killed the game for anyone else.

Pity you didn't enjoy your comeback OP. But for everyone who'll read this thread.

Warhammer is for hardcore PvP/RvRers and fanboys. If you don't belong to any of these 2 groups, don't sub.

F2P maybe, maybe not. But that won't change the fact that if you don't like the game how it's now you'll never like it.

    Peace all

If i wanted to play proper RvR i'd reinstall DAoC, WAR does it badly. WAR is hardcore pvp/rvr? No, dear god no, it's not. There is nothing hardcore about this game. No full loot, no death panlties....what exactly is hardcore about WAR's pvp?

Again, as with DAoC, neither is F2P and probably never will be.

Expresso gave me a Hearthstone beta key.....I'm so happy :)

    Well, WAR is:

    Quasi Warhammer
    Quasi RvR
    Good writting
    Very Good Art
    Shit everything else

And they could've had all of those at least good if not very good. What a shame. It, however, did introduce me to Ulthuan which was love on the first sight! Thanks WAR!!! <3

For the Love of GOD, give this game a fatal dose of morphine!! It's painful just to know it is still "alive". I think the fan-bois keep it on life support  just to "prove" the naysayers "wrong".  I played when it was shiny and new, great ideas , poorly executed , but it had potential. I have been back twice on the FTP and it just made me sad.

I enjoyed the game for about 4 or 5 months.  I loved the pvp matches and in all my time playing mmo's, that game's pvp is still the most memorable to me.  But, like a lot of other games though (at least for me), running the same pvp zones over and over gets boring after a while.  The pve content was just average. Would like to see this game completely redone some day.

You know what. We don't give a damn about what you want or think.

Now that Mythic listens to us, the remaining player-base that's actually growing again, things are way better than they ever where.

Call us fanboys all you want. But in the coming event, no date yet, we're all going to fight back in T1 dorf. Yay Ekrund. The bolster down is already in place and it was fun to run around there with my 40rr95 Magus as level 8.

Search for the Legendary weapons, part 1. Very very soonish I hope.

Haters gonna hate but do we really care?

Best PvP MMO we have at the moment. Specially now that modern rigs can actually run the game properly in large RvR fights.

Main problmem this game has is that's entirely PvP centric, there's pretty much nothing else of note to do so it's no wonder most people get bored with it fast.

I myself can't stomach more than 2 or 3 months of it at a time but I always go back...

I played WAR for its first 6 months & there was much to love, however the horrible engine, server crashes, lopsided balance decisions & the HUGE patches that basically meant you had to relearn your class each patch because they changed so much each time they rebalanced just killed the fun.

That they removed the guts of the game just to solve the crashing shows how flawed it was.

I thought it had so much potential that was utterly squandered by poor execution upon a crippled engine.

I went back after 18 months & it was but a pale shadow of it's dysfunctional self, still had bugs from beta & the engine was still hamstrung by glitches.

It really did get left to die, slowly & painfully.

WARs strength is it's PvP. There is no better on the market. Don't log into it for any other reason. My advice is get to t4 asap which is not very hard these days and is where most of the action is.

The only thing WAR has is its PvP/RvR.  There is better on the market, but that's all they do.  Don't log into it for any reason.  My advice is to find a better game with PvP/RvR, like GW2 or even Darkfall now that they had the patch.  Hell, go to WoW and PvP in arenas and that will be just as good.

Actually we should as it's in some way the entire problem of the warhammer situation.

They just can't accept, I hoep they understand otherwise it's even worse than I think,  that we don't give a damn crap about other games for the simple fact that we only care about PvP/RvR. GW2 is an overall better game but their WvW is from past decade comapred to War's RvR.

Woow people are still trying to say there was anything good about WAR.  That game crashed and burned so hard.  Honestly no one cares about flipping some scripted generic lego lookn castle. PvP for the sake of PvP all for $15  lol ya right EvE and Darkfall to name a few have good pvp.

90s style pvp with pathetic pve == WAR.... if your thinking about playing this game reader listen to the op..... Its a failure on so many levels.
