Que's for 3/4 WvWvW maps. Que for Lions Arch and que for QUEENSDALE? Really?

Guess we got a lot of kids who like to play human.

    Ok...

Many servers have long had queues for the wvw maps, but queues don't exist for other maps.  If LA or Queensdale are full, then the game simply creates another copy.  Even in the off hours those maps have multiple copies.

Good game. Glad people are playing it. So many fickle people jumped ship before they could even get a feel for it. Pretty sad state of gaming culture we live in today.

Agreed but it is a more casual yet skill based game that some mmo vets will never like.

A lot of people jumped ship on GW2 because of ANet's sudden change in direction with the game, it has nothing to do with them being fickle. You'll find most of the low population issues all started immediately after the Karka patch...

But yeah it's hardly surprising that this one would be a popular Christmas present. I honestly don't see the game ever recovering from the huge population drop though.

I dont see that big a jump ship, its just everyone moved to either la, wvw, or pvp. I wish they had more in the pve world, but there are still enough people to have fun with if you can gather them. Kessex hills on my server is a great example of this.

I am glad to hear that more people are getting to try out GW2 however. A nice gift for good people. Not so much of a good gift for a ganker or a griefer though

All of my posts are either intelligent, thought provoking, funny, satirical, sarcastic or intentionally disrespectful. Take your pick.

I get banned in the forums for games I love, so lets see if I do better in the forums for games I hate.

I enjoy the serenity of not caring what your opinion is.

Well the main point of the thread was that Queensdale had a que, which to me shows that quite a few people logged on for the first time on Christmas day.

Hmm that's strange hours played are a little less than they were last month. They are right at their normal weekend levels.

Pure conjecture on your part, there are many other plausible explanations.

He must have meant overflow, since the PvE maps don't have "queues". I'm in Queensdale right now on a new necro I'm taking for a test drive, and although there wasn't an overflow there certainly are a lot of people about.

I think that's because the game makes it really easy to walk away and not feel punished.

However, you have to think of the other side of the coin: the game also makes it really easy to come back and not feel left behind. I think we'll see a lot more returning players in GW2 over time than in other MMO's; I have personally not gone back to some MMOs even though I've wanted to simply because it felt like I would have to invest so much just to be up to par with everyone else.

The fact that GW2 doesn't have a subscription combined with its low return barrier almost ensures that the game will have a working population for many years to come. Just look at GW1, it's more or less dead now a days but that game had a good population for 3-4 years even though it was a niche game; GW2 has a lot more mass appeal than GW1.

Then why aren't they playing their mains and doing fractals like they were before christmas?

While anecdotes are not proof, more populous starting areas correlate with an influx of new players. If it was just the same people logging in more you would see a balanced increase across all zones, not a significant increase in the starter zones compared to the others.

It should be fairly obvious it's an "all of the above" thing. Holiday week in the U.S. for many, more people playing. Christmas presents, more people playing. Rather than assume it's all people on holiday or all new people with new GW2, it's likely a combination somewhere in the middle... many new people and many "off work today" people (like me!) hopping in.

Got it from santa. After nice dinner and  good old scotch. I started my jorney. Now got 2 lvl 35 + charecters. And i got very bored with leveling them. Will try WvWvW  on the weekend. But game looks very easy and repatative.IMO.

Nah, there is definitely an increase in players, it was expected though. But hey since you were trying to go there anyways ... I mean even as unreliable as Xfire is even it's ranking GW2 in the top 5.

    1) League of Legends

    2) CoD 4

    3) CoD 2

    4) WoW

    5) GW2

So seems it's still not only one of the top MMO's it's still one of the top PC games period by the sources you were trying to use to show it in a negative light.

Never noticed any "skill based" anything in GW2 during my 80 levels of play.  All small scale PvP I was involved in either had hackers or spamming skills and hope you win.  Usually 50/50 chance depending on class you are and class they are.

WvW was usually 2 large groups shooting off a few shots across a field at eachother.

Sieges was whoever wanted to waste money on siege equipment made you win!

The open world PvE IS very easy because it's meant to be completed by everyone, including little kids. However, try the dungeons before passing final judgement; they are some of the hardest PvE content I've played.

However, If you already have 2 Lvl35+ characters in one day of playing you are focusing WAAAY too much on leveling. I can guarantee you are missing a TON of interesting events, locales, and lore in all of the zones you have played through.

I'm serious, going into a play sessions thinking "Oh I'm gonna get to X level" is the absolute worst thing you can do for your enjoyment of GW2. Just let yourself get immersed in the world and lore because that is one thing that GW2 does better than any other MMO in the market, period. From inscriptions on tombs, to finding hidden lairs and tresures, to seeing the beautiful art and sounds of the environment, the zones in GW2 actually feel like a world in motion.

P.S. Although the game doesn't force you to, it kind of expects you to partake in many aspects of gameplay including DE's, personal story, dungeons, crafting, exploration, WvW and sPvP. Doing only one of these exclusively WILL result in boredom because they weren't really designed for that.

P.P.S. When doing events, LISTEN and FOLLOW NPCs. There is so much more going on with DE chains that people don't catch because they simply don't bother paying attention to the world itself but just focus on what the UI throws at them.

For example, in one DE you have to gather mushrooms for an NPC's potion. Pretty standard and boring right? Wrong! If you follow this DE chain to it's completion AND stick around for a little bit AFTER the chain is done, you will see the NPC have a full conversation with his dead kin not only revealing lore and history of that cave but also serving as surprisingly touching moment. Had I simply jsut read the DE pop and ran off as soon as it was done I would not have experienced any of this.

Bullshit plain and simple ....if you don't like it move on but fabricating an outright lie? Give folks a little more credit than this type of crap ,you might as well said you got both players to 80 if you’re going to stretch things a little why not go all the way ?
