    I'm not even exaggerating.

Check the GW2 forum here on the site.  Then please notice those saying they don't like the game.  Note their name and avatar.  Then go to the next thread.  Oh look there they are again.  And the next thread.  Again.  And the next thread.....again.

In fact, several of them are in THIS thread too!  So start here and work your way backwards through the threads and you'll see the same haters in every single thread.  Seriously.   I know people say, " It's just the same people hating the game in every thread." and I find that usually to be an exaggeration but this is not.

It literally is that bad.  Don't take my word for it.  Look through the GW2 threads.  I mean some of these posters are freaking relentless.  Its about a dozen people who never miss the opportunity to post in a GW2 thread and say something negative.

..Or the vocal minority who go into other game forums and shout out, "why don't you try Guild Wars 2!", even though GW2 doesn't meet the OP's requirements for a new game, or have anything to do with what he/she was saying. Multiple sandbox threads were infested with GW2 posts in the last month (Thank you mods for deleting those posts).  GW2 is not a sandbox, lol.

You like GW2, that much is clear.  But others (perhaps renegades or ArenaNet shills) keep trying to pollute game conversations with how great GW2 is ... argghh!  People will play what they want to play.  GW2 is a casual game - great graphics, shabby gameplay.

Instead of accusing everyone of being a hater, love the game you love, and enjoy it.  Just because I don't enjoy GW2 doesn't make me a hater.  I bought the damn game.

Yea okay.  I just think the same people kinda gripe about GW2 in thread, after thread, after thread.  As though they have nothing better to do.  Like I said I notice about the same dozen or so people doing it.  Not that I'm saying you are one of them.......

I mean sure you posted in this thread, and that's good.  You stated your dislike.  So that's fine.

But you're obviously not who I was talking about.  No need to get offended!  It's just that some people love to bash GW2 in just about every post, even when they're talking about other games in other threads.  Like you know, the people who say they don't like GW2 in a Swtor thread for instance, when the thread has nothing to do with GW2.  Thats the kinda thing that really drives me nuts.

    Oh.....you did that.  Nevermind.

Wow, I've never seen someone go through this much effort to make someone else look  bad on an internet forum.  Do they have an award for mmorpgflamer of the year?

    LOL!

It doesn't make me look bad, rather, it makes me look consistant.  I don't even need those links to tell you that GW2 is a great graphical game, but lacks the definition of MMORPG.

Corehaven: Thanks for showing everyone the shortfalls of GW2 .. I couldn't have done it better myself!   .. If I linked all that I would have been trolling threads, but you did it for me, free of cost.. TY.

Oh no need to thank me.  You've commented negatively in just about every GW2 thread in existence.  "Showing everyone the shortfalls of GW2" ?  No that's just the links to your fancy doo opinions.  Which I'm pretty sure you would use a giant laser beam to burn it into the freggin moon if you could.

The only saving grace here is that you seem to complain about Swtor even more.  I do wonder if there are actually any mmo's you actually DO LIKE.  Although if there were, you'd probably  just complain about those too.

I do complain about SWTOR even more than GW2... look at it this way, I complain about games I like, and SWTOR > GW2.  But that's because SWTOR is more of a game than GW2 will ever be.  Even with SWTOR's lifeless worlds, it still feels more alive than GW2.  /snap

It is really not about GW2,you get what you pay for,but imo ANET is a classless act.

You're damn right hype is bad. You should feel ashamed for showing excitement for anything. Everyone should be wearing their turtleneck sweaters, smoking in the corner, and scoffing at any project by any large company.

The more I'm around the forums on this site, the more bitter I become.

I don't bash it. It's a nice little game, but it's a bit too casual for me.

Why does GW2 get so much bash and hate? For the same reason that Justin Bieber gets so much bash and hate, even though for my 15 years old niece he's the best thing since bread came sliced.

If Justin Bieber was less popular, most people wouldn't bother to bash him. If he wasn't being sold as a superstar and actually was a proper singer, he wouldn't be hated.

My opinion is my own. I respect all other opinions and views equally, but keep in mind that my opinion will always be the best for me. That's why it's my opinion.

  • slickbizzleslickbizzle Member Posts: 464

There are the "I want to be unique and go against the grain" type bashers. They will always hate any game that is popular.

There are the "I have to be loyal to my game , by bad-mouthing every other game,  so my game doesn't shut down and all of it would have been for nothing!" type bashers.

    There are the bandwagon bashers.

The list goes on. No rhyme or reason to it.

Or, they could simply not like it.

Because not everyone shares your opinion that its "a great game"?

For me it feels like GW2 is only about doing same repetative DE's and trying to reach silly goal "cover 100% map". Not type of activity I want from MMORPGs.

I could deal with a lot of the typical complaints I hear but the one kicker for me is the combat...I really wish they either followed tera or wow combat....as some one mentioned earlier the combat is the same for all classes just different effects. Questing with this combat engine is boring.. I'm one of those gamers that stick with a game for a while to I decide its going now where(just quit playing d3) so I believe this game could get better.

For the record I'm a hardcore gamer...I don't like casual games..even though I can only afford to play a few days out the weekday I still like to feel progress in my character...as of now I have no drive in playing. I just play to pass time..I have made no friends either...I have people on my friend list but they are all usually doing random things or hoping servers...so we talk but I never play with them since the first time we grouped...

I think the game could be more social able but since like 2010 most mmorpgs I played have been anti or very little social able..I think the people who are very social able among mmorpgs are proly playing wow or the mmorpg they fell in love with..the rest are either mmo jumping or just grinding like hell..in swtor I remember people begging to play together in this its the opposite

This doesn't flow well... in orange and purple.

Justin Bieber can't sing without an auto-tune, so no.  Just NO.  When he was younger, he had a good voice .. older, he never spent time learning how to sing as an adult, with his voice shift.  His fault, not the customers / listeners.  Listening to auto-tune is poison to music.

GW2 can't possible generate as much dislike as Justin Bieber.  Even though GW2 is lacking in the social, longevity, and MMORPG categories, it can still be sort of fun to entertain ones-self, and fans can still say they are GW2 fans (which some proudly do).

I don't get it.  Stirring up hype for your game is bad  now?  What does Scarfe's post have to do with anything negative on ANet's part?  Maybe I'm not seeing what you see.

You're damn right hype is bad. You should feel ashamed for showing excitement for anything. Everyone should be wearing their turtleneck sweaters, smoking in the corner, and scoffing at any project by any large company.

You seem to get it XD.

Dunno about that, several dellusional people were far more hurt by the reality of GW2 (specially so called fans who ragequit over ascended gear introduction) than analagous people seem to be by SWTOR.

True fans, like myself, are more than happy with how GW2 feels and looks today.

Showing excitement for something and "hype" are two very different things.

Showing excitement shows someone is looking forward to a game without placing said game upon a pedestal and worshiping the very ground it covers. Someone showing excitement for a game can be objective and see if it has any flaws.

Hype is all out 100% praise for a game, no room for error. There are lots of links involved to quotes from devs and producers about what the game "is looking to do" but rarely any concrete facts. Terms are loosely used so the inferences can supply what the developers do not want to say outright. The game, and subsequently, the publishing company can do no wrong, in the eyes of the hype train riders. Remember the A-Net manifesto hype? What did it really say, specifically?

Many times, attacks are made, pre-release, on other players asking simple questions for clarification or detail about the upcoming game. "It's still in beta." is the usual answer for any concerns from a hype-train rider. Nevermind that the game has been in development for years and the beta is the final step before release, so major concerns will NOT be made prior to release. Beta concerns are all about spit and polish.

Hype leads to disappointment 99.9% of the time. Nothing ever made, nor ever to be made will live up to the hype. If I ever made a game, I would hope to all that is holy that nobody started a hype-train on it. Then again, I wouldn't make a game that soars at the top for 1-4 months and fades fast, which is what the hype-train is good for. Hype gets people to buy. Hype does not keep them playing.

No. Hype is bad. In every sense of the word, hype is bad.

Genuine excitement for an upcoming game is great! Just keep a level head and never get blinded. Don't hang on every word uttered by a developer, but rather read what they say and ask questions.

Personally the only modern MMORPG trend that annoys me is the idea that MMOs need to be designed in a way to attract people who don't actually like MMOs. Which to me makes about as much sense as someone trying to figure out a way to get vegetarians to eat at their steakhouse.

Kinda had more fun on tor then on GW2, atleast with tor you got a ''diffirent'' story with all the classes (and then at the end as always an endless grind)

with GW2...its all the same, just because the game has dynamic events doesnt mean its any better then the other mmo's out there

Also with GW2 it feels more like an all-out-grinding game, kinda like how Star Wars Galaxies was with the whole collection system (then again SWG was a sandbox..but thats a story for another time XD)

Just anecdotally, I spent a few months engaged with SWTOR before I got bored.  GW2 took less than a month .. I kept playing GW2 for another month feeling like I was missing something, but it never got better.

I still play SWTOR, though as a F2P (full of complaints).  But I still play.  I'm trying to muster the energy to log on to GW2 for the holiday events.  No luck so far.  I am failing to bond with GW2.

ArenaNet seems like a better company than EA (actually both are pretty bad) .. but I give kudos to ArenaNet for the fix of the gambling boxes at Thanksgiving.  I assure you, EA would not have done that.  But then came the next round for ArenaNet.... :(

The problem is people are overreacting to what the developers say. Take all the archage hype - people have read so much into the game, we have no clue as to want it really will be.

If you read the ArcheAge forums, and all the fan posts with literally hundreds of videos, you would doubt even your own statement.

It just went into it's last beta, and you say people still don't know what it will be? /puzzle

Last I checked, a game in beta is pretty final .. minor tweaks here and there, but the foundation is set in stone.

YUP - because oft times, games that come from Korea to the America and EU are totally different than what it is in Korea. People keep keep saying it will be a great sandbox, etc - we have no clue.
