I got to admit, the first time i logged in and played for a few hours i was in half a mind if i liked it or not. I actually got up and went to the gym and though about logging into Vanguard or The Secret world when i got home.
I got home around 7PM and though, feck it ill go at it again. I didn't end up going to bed until 4am and i had to get up at 8am for work lol. Their are going to be a few people who log in on friday and will find the game pretty strange to begin with, on top of that the game is not as user friendly as most MMO you've played.
Anyway i think Patrick over at massively sums it up nicely.

First day i was like "This is kinda cool.. is it really good though?" second day I lost 10 hours somehow. I played for the 1 week (was it 2?) the the last few days sparringly knowing that all my cultivation (think EVE learning skills) would be wiped.
I put the game down pleased. Little did I know I would be reading Wuxia lore/history, and jones'n to get back in 2 weeks later.
edit!- "Open PVP with real consequences, horizontal character progression, a player-driven economy, and the best combat system in any MMO ever -- you'll find it all in Age of Wushu."
edit!- "Probably the best sandbox ever The comparisons with EVE Online are inevitable. It's a game with open PvP (complete with consequences), guilds and guild territory that can be invaded, and a dynamic, player-driven economy."
Damn what a great write up. I posted then read the article.
What's even more impressive is the profile of the reviewer who wrote this article
Patrick Mackey -
"Although he enjoys unwinding in PvE and roleplaying, Patrick's first gaming love is competition and the nuance of gaming mechanics that comes with playing games at the most intense levels. A regional tournament champion, Patrick takes his gaming seriously, whether it is MMO PvP or an intense match of Street Fighter 4.
He is an ardent pursuer of the intrinsic satisfaction of deep game knowledge; he balks when other gamers insist that "games are for fun."
in that link to massively he wrote that beaheading happen 24h later, its not exactly true You go there till noon next day, so if You are unlucky You can sit in jail for more than 30h ( had it once )
jail time isnt higher for criminalists, but he cant bribe or play game with guards like normal pker
Lol, if that aint enough to make you think twice nothing is.
Some goodie two-shoes aressted me once. I had just got done merrily mercing a poor sole by the Jan boat dock. I was skipping along when I see this BIG (looked big at the time) guy come running over the hill.
I still lacked understanding at this point.... This guy had realized his potential. He ran me down, kicked my ass, then threw me in jail.. I bribed the gaurd and was out a couple minutes later, BUUUUT I had -25% to all stats for like 4 hours plus the death penalty stat decrease...
I will be more careful next time...
Yes, you can - there's lots of wooded area, hills, creeks, desert etc for you to hide in the open world.
Also, as long as you do enough penance (10 minute sessions of writing punishment for Scholar, kneeling in front of the buddha for Beggars etc) you can keep your discipline points low enough that your school masters would tolerate you to hang around your (large) school compound. Of course, you could still be arrested inside your school.
A safer place for a highwayman belonging to a guild (perhaps a guild of thieves) who own a castle might be his guild castle...
...wait, is that the sound of an expedition force knocking on the door of your den?
"A game is fun if it is learnable but not trivial" -- Togelius & Schmidhuber
If in 1982 we played with the current mentality, we would have burned down all the pac man games since the red ghost was clearly OP. Instead we just got better at the game.
The same way people play Eve - like the person above - going AFK while patrolling. It really looks like people are playing it *rolls eyes*
Yeah, i'm just going to learn as much about the game as possible, the 1st beta was more of a test on if i like it. Being from europe and knowing that ill move to the Age Of Wulin beta in feb is a plus. Ill know a lot about the game by the time that starts so all is good.
Gonna go Tangmen and Wanderers Alley which gives me that assassin ,poison and rouge type build. Thinking of starting a european clan with just those two options for schools.
Anyway, one more day left and we are back in.. woot!
You will have the chance tomorrow, anyone can play 10 hours of the beta free and 60 mins a day their after. Personally i think that once you get the hang of it 60 mims a day will be a wind up lol.
You can download the client now, it can be a bit of a pain if i'm honest so best to get it on your hard drive now.
why do You talk about things You dont understand? if You get 100 punishment points You wont have choice, You will have to sit in clan for 130min if I remember correct, so when I have 90 I leave my character to sit afk at night
What happens if you turn your PC off, does it reset and you have to start again or does it continue where you left off. I haven't been in that situation yet but i was going to try it out just to see it for myself but i don't want to sit their for two long.
Ah so my punishment points will continue to be worked off through the offline system anyway?
if You go repent by yourself and log out before its over, then it will be stoped,
if You enter clan territory with 100 points then You have to sit if You like or not / in jail You can go offline
I'm trying to download this thing and I've got the zip file. When I run the installer it says theres a problem with the cab files. Anyone else have issue downloading and running this?
The MD5 whatever it is is in gibberish...this is fun.
Have a look here, i downloaded it from the first beta so only needed patch.

The massively "first impression" article is so positive, that it sounds completely unbelievable.
After experience of last 5-6 years, I won't belive that any MMO is in any way good, even if all the web pages in the world will be full of positive reviews and impressions writen by "mmo vets" as well as "proffesional reviewers".
There is absolutly no way that I will pay for any MMORPG, ever again, before I can try it for free without any serious restrictions.
Lol, no one is asking you to believe anything, come tomorrow most in this section of these forms will be back in the game. Your probably better off sticking to GW2 at least you have played it like most of us here have played Age Of Wushu.
