It's obvious TSW should never , ever been a sub game.

Or maybe they failed in making a game that appealed to a great amount of people but had appeal to a smaller audience? But didn't take this into account when making the game (for some reason)?

Wait..so..because a game shifts from P2P to B2P, it's an automatic failure? That pretty much means ALL MMOs are failures, save for the ones maintaining the P2P business model. However, are all these MMOs "good"? It's all based on what you enjoy. For example, I enjoyed AC1 because I could make my character however I wanted. I went OG Spear, which was sucky because it didn't do as much damage as Sword, and didn't hit as fast as Unarmed/Dagger. But, I could still hold my own in PvE and PvP. In TSW, I could take any two weapons I wanted, or just focus on one and be fine. You created your character the way you wanted. Now, all those other games, UO and EVE aside, are themepark linear BS that I do not enjoy. "Follow the path to X quest, and X quest, grind this area, move on." And the dangling carrot that is gear in those games are ridiculous. Is TSW without such? I wouldn't know. You can call me a fanboy, no big deal. I just think it's funny that because a game shifts it's model/focus, it's an automatic crash and burn in the eyes of the bitter mmorpg gamers who get too worked up on hype, or are so jaded going into a game, they don't allow any room for error. Whining about bugs and bugs and bugs, guess what..these video game programmers/developers are not perfect, neither are you. People make mistakes, bugs are mistakes. Do they get fixed? Yes, they get paid to fix them. You pay them to fix them. Is that bad? No. When you work and you make a mistake, do you expect to be paid still? Probably.

I think I've gone off on a tangent now..anyways, back to focus..is TSW for everyone? No, by no means. I myself am new to the game, and it's not the best MMO in the world, but I'd rather play it than WoW and WoW clones. Does it mean that TSW is a failure because it's not everyone's cup of tea? Again, no. That would be like saying Coca Cola is a failure because people prefer Pepsi. I log into my Dimension on TSW (Grim) and I see loads of people in all stages of the game, from the newbie starting zone, to the end game/new raid area of New York.

    Just my two cents.

The more terrible , unfinished , buggy mmo's that crash and burn the better.

One day hoping mmorpg companies will learn from mistakes such as TSW and SWTOR.

Hoping these two in particular continue to burn into a horrible end for the companies.

Maybe then better games will be published.

I also enjoyed seeing the past months the clueless who tried to imply TSW was selling well , despite all financials pointing to the opposite.

Wondering where those folks are now as I'd like to see them spin this.

    Do you want a hug?

    The TSW fanboys do .

No need for a hug here , enjoying seeing Funcom reap the results of releasing imcomplete buggy game again.

Their own forums are a blast now , with those who've bought the grandmaster ,their most dedicated and loyal customers , are in an uproar.

    Quite enjoyable.

I think you need more fiber in your diet or something, cause the amount of rage your showing can not possibly be from a video game.

    Rage ?

It's soooo easy to get you Funcom defense force fanboys in an uproar.

Why would I possibly be in a rage ?

Your main dev is depressed , hurt by his own customers on his own forum and their lashing at him

    It's delicious.

Wait... lol i am gonna use your logic....wait, here it comes.

    Uproar?

Come on keep going, work it out.

So where is there a failure in adjusting your product to the market?

I played beta for TSW. Wasn't blown away by it and suggested this model because it was obvious a sub wasn't going to cut it.

    They learned their lesson.

Better late than ever. Hope the game thrives, because if it does then future developers will finally learn we're in a post-WoW market. Maybe actual innovations will follow?

    a yo ho ho

I really hope it works out, it was a great game, I just couldn't justify paying a sub for it.

As a side note - I think this is proof that MMORPGs need systems in them which keep people logging in. Despite how much people whine about this grind or that grind, those sorts of games maintain a largish community for a longer time, and if you get addicted to those grinds enough, you will keep paying to do them. Look at WoW.

This ^^.  Okay, I take back my thread close comments!  :)

Yeah, I haven't seen a guy who pours his heart and soul so much into a game -- he's very active on the forums and just lays it out there.  Just don't like it being used by the haters.

TSW actually tried to step outside of the box.  the main-stream didn't bite and you are enjoying it?  fuck you.  you are the reason we have the same themepark games coming out one after another.  i hope you enjoy the stagnation in the genre as much as you seem to.  get bent.

This , this is rage Funcom followers.

    Even more delicious.

    /yum

You know, i am not even a tsw fan but a gw2 fan, and i find you completelu disgusting. Whatever ban you get you WILL deserve.

Here is my opinion: tsw was a niche, a small niche, never cuaght on, and had horrid advertising. Whether it is a good game or not is completely opinionated, but those i listed are facts.

The Secret World is a great game and tbh worthy of a sub in my eyes. HOWEVER, it was not ok that it cost £11.49 a month when WoW/RIFT/SWTOR all cost £8.99  ... there was no justification in the monthly sub price increase for the EU ( Mainly UK ) and that alone made me cancel after the first month.

I actually started playing again about a week ago so the free announcement is pretty cool and will allow me to continue playing without the crazy sub prices Funcom asked for.

    "Real Account" ?

No really , it's even better some of you put stock in post counts and your "real accounts"

I occasionally make an account to post on here once every several months to see the zealouts comes out in force , no need to bother remembering the last I used when its just as quick to make a new one.

It's even sweeter some of you actually put stock in an anonymous account you've created for free , I don't see your real picture ID and address listed there ? Why not step up and post that ?

    Silly thing.
