Tera still isn't any better

RenoakuRenoaku Member EpicPosts: 3,157

I check on MMO's once in awhile to see if the devs have learned their lession from their mistakes and it appears Tera/Enmasse hasn't learned from their mistakes yet.

1. http://tera.enmasse.com/server-status You should note they now only have 3 servers lost over half their playerbase due to various reasons.

2. They  Steal the idea from other players who modded their character texture files and attempt to make a profit out of it instead of supporting third party mod's like Blizzard.

http://store.enmasse.com/store/tera/html/pbPage.Novelty-Items/ThemeID.1994570#costumes-tab

I wouldn't mind so much but Enmasse still wants to charge me a premium subscription, pay for their skins if I want them, then they want me to pay $9.99 to change my character's height, weight, Hair styles this is a big turn off to me and the reason I am not going to give enmasse a chance until I see that this is part of the game is included in our subscription costs. Skins I wouldn't mind buying, and their so called Mounts because its not so bad, but charging high costs to your subscribers not the way to go.

Enmasse has Failed at their so called Future MMO, and I think that people should just wait for new MMO's to try out hopefully we get a few decent MMO's in the future, hopefully DFUW will be a lot better than DarkFall.

If Tera was actually my game, and I was running the business with that kind of money It would have a higher playerbase, and not only this but a lot more happy customers playing the game THEIR WAY, the freedom of choice, and expressing themselves their characters rather than being restricted to one character look without paying for it.  Sure I would sell skins and additional packs, but I would leave the basic stuff there for people to freely customize and enjoy the game their way.

This is something that a lot of MMORPG creators these days are failing to do for its cosumers the reason not only TERA, but TSW I quit TSW really fast due to the loading time, and the failure to provide any epic customizations freely. It just sucks people don't realise this is 2012, not 1991 when GM's had to actually provide assitance use console commands to summon items people paid for and such, there should be no cost.

This does not include how Enmasse/Tera mislead me, provided me with no agreement in the box, and said I agreed to it but was never required to because my account was made before the game had their TOS there, and when I purchased the game I was lead to believe I would get at least free customizations and all features of the game for the monthly sub price.

Let Tera Die, or go Totally F2P before wasting a cent on their game/service.

Of all the mmos that I have played and quit TERA is the one that stays on my mind because it got everything right but had  boring progression because of the lame questing. I wish it would have been more of a grind type of game. I know this is what most people dont like but there are alot of people that do like my self. Sure it would not have been a WoW type success but I could see the game with 500K subs which to me is solid. I can only imagine the open world pvp this game would have had if there was reasons to fight over xp spots, dungeons,  and bosses. If the game would have been like that I would still be playing. All EnMasse has to do was increase the xp and reconfigure the drops from mobs and then make the game free to play.  They can still do this now but I think they have given up on the game.

I played this game for a bit, pre ordered the collector's edition to get the tiger mount, got to about level 42 if I remember correctly and quit. Only played for like a week or two. Good support, boring game.

A new game that just came out into open beta is RaiderZ, same style of game, but 150% better executed. Try it out.

Yeah ive seen this advertised before, I really don't like Perfect World, or Nexon much because they usually charge too much for F2P MMORPG's like costumes, recustomizations etc. I refuse to play games like this with high insane costs of like $30 per costume like cabal, or  no free customizations/subscription option to such because I like to play games my way with the ability to enjoy it my way not the way the game company wants me to spend constant money.

With the exception of STO, for example in STO I can Recustomize my character, and freely buy additional costumes which do not cost insane prices I don't have to but they give me the basic face changes and such free even as a free player and that is fine if and when I do play a MMO like this I am willing to stick cash into it.

I also see that Frogster, and some other companies designed this game so if it is like Runes OF Magic in some ways I will be willing to spend some cash, however if it is insanely over priced or messed up I am out within like a hour if that.

I definitely recommed RaiderZ to you if you enjoy games like Tera, Vindictus with the free aim type of combat. This game is NOT pay to win, the items in there now are like, "here's an item to boost your chances of not ruining an enchancement past a certain level" and stuff like that, they're also selling a Founders Pack until the 31st, at $29.99. You get the quickest mount available, and a costume piece and stuff like that. Buying it for sure helps, but it's not needed. I don't have that and I'm only 4 levels away from the current level cap. (35)

EDIT: And Nexon/PW do have a bad record for their pay to win model of games. But I'm not seeing that in RaiderZ, yet.

Thats how I feel as well.. so close but so far with TERA, so many unfinished systems by BHS that ultimately killed the game.

They have player housing started, the Guild housing areas are already setup in cities and highlighted in yellow on the map, they had plans for Server vs server and raids, they didnt finish vanarchy/political system or GvG, they had so many good ideas but they didn't finish them, they slapped them on half complete or even incomplete and still visible in game!

It drives me insane to see a game that had such potential fall short due to incompetence, but what is done is done and i'll always remember the fun I had in TERA, but moreso remember what it actually could have been.

Well I actually just gave Raiderz a download and trying it out.

The game itself isn't that bad, its actually better than Nexon's Vindictus given the fact with Vindictus I have to spend over $30 USD to pimp out my toon.

The Cash Shop In raiders at this time doesn't seem to be a Scam like all the other PWI games I have played in the past like Jade Dynasty, and Perfect World. I can live with the cash shop the way it is at this exact time its not that bad, what I can't live with is when a company starts asking for $9.99 USD per character change, if they worked more like ROM does like just $0.50 cents if you pay like $50 for a large pack of diamonsd I can live with that, but $9.99 like Tera Plus monthly fees its just too much.

Problem is a lot of MMO's have greedy developers and people I understand they need to make cash some how and I don't mind donating or playing like if they said $10 for a month you can customize yoru crafter fully as much as you want hairs etc I would do that, and more would do it if it came with extra perks like XP boosts and such. The packs could start at $10 and increase with more bonus etc.

While RaiderZ isn't bad, esp for F2P and has a similar combat system (I still think TERA's is better TBH), it's more PVE oriented. A lot more. It's vaguely reminiscent of Monster Hunter in addition to TERA. If you're into that kind of thing, it's well-made for F2P. Not my cup of tea (too PVE) but I tend to think of it as more of an alternative to GW2 with combat similar to TERA and MH elements than a straight up TERA clone, despite obvious influence (combat, UI). Outside Asia, I don't think it'll last more than a few months (until the next decent F2P game comes along). Honestly, I'd rather just play TERA. Better graphics, pvp.

I find that interesting because there are so many things that Raiderz does that feel cheap or annoying. Oh there are some nice things but the music is horrendous to my taste, I sometimes dont' feel like I'm really connecting to my target, the game itself feels kind of weird in a cheap way. I'm not sure if it's the graphics (read graphics not art design) and how things are lit, or how it's animated. All I know is that I went back and forth, logging into one and then the other and Tera felt like it was "put together" a bit better.

The art design is all over the place. There seems to be a colonial thing going on except people are fighing with swords and maces and wearing armor. My first chain armor looked amazing for such a low level. the next tier seems a bit fetish. Now this is not a complaint about some of the wackiness that asian games incorporate for their armor and weapons and more of a complaint on how disparate the art design seems to be from one tier to another.

Some nice things that Raiderz has are the recipes for crafting and listing it on the sidebar along with a list of what creature drops "what", the incorporation of separate skill trees (though I haven't really delved too much into this system) and again, the fact that low level gear looks more than rags.

All told I prefer Tera and will keep my subscription. I feel that it has more cohesion in its creation and "feels right". Raiderz seems fun but at the moment isn't drawing me away from Tera. Unfortunatley, the lack of content in Tera is an issue for me.

RaiderZ is awful. I have (not subbed) a 60 lancer and a 45 berserker. TERA did so many things right, but the ones they did wrong were absolute game breakers. The PvP is atrocious, if you can even say it exists. The questing is the most mundane I've ever come across... which is saying something with MMORPG's nowadays. The end game was non-existent and extremely repetitive.

The combat, however, was amazing. With a few tweaks on things like the 'delay' feel of it, and a more cohesive approach to where level 60s were gathering, hunting, etc, and have non-outlaw PvP on PvP servers, it'd have been excellent.

I don't. ^^ I played to level 35 defender in Raiderz and level 34.5 Zerker.  I like the combat system (in some ways a bit more flexible than TERAs). But the graphics aren't nearly as good.

I have three level 60's in TERA Lancer, Slayer, Warrior.  All Cast females. ^^  TERA is much more polished than Raiders, and has much more content.  Not to mention it didn't have the stat stacking and dupe bugs that Raiderz did.

Its too bad that TERA is down to three servers at this point. That game could have been SO much more.
