Patch 1.6 is on Public Test Server:

Highlights

Ancient Hypergate, a new Warzone, is available for play! Travel to an ancient ruin built around a Gree Hypergate and battle to control the precious lost technology for your faction.
New incredibly challenging Weekly [HEROIC] Space Combat missions are available!
All new Grade 7 Artifact Quality Starship Upgrades are now available!

Group Finder

Added a new Level 50 "Introduction to Group Finder" mission to the Daily Mission Terminal on the Republic and Imperial Fleets. This will be granted when players complete the Advanced Gear mission for their Class.
Group Finder categories have been updated with tooltips that provide a recommended gear rating and an outline of the rewards available from the content.
Increased Black Hole Commendations awarded by Story Mode Operations in Group Finder from 5 to 10.

Missions and NPCs

Added a new Level 50 "Advanced Gear" mission for each Class to the Daily Mission Terminal on the Imperial and Republic Fleets.

Items and Economy

Elite War Hero vendors have been added to the Imperial and Republic fleets, replacing Battlemaster PvP vendors.
Battlemaster PvP gear is no longer attainable in game.
Tionese gear available from the Tionese vendor no longer costs Tionese Crystals, and their commendation costs have been reduced for most items.
Ancient Artifact Storage Boxes can now be purchased for 25 Tionese Crystals from all Tionese vendors.

UI

The tooltips for several currencies will now explain how they can be acquired and what they can be used to purchase. These currencies include: Tionese Commendations, Columi Commendations, Black Hole Commendations, Daily Commendations, and Tionese Crystals.
The Flashpoint Commendations category on the Currency Window has been renamed to Endgame Commendations. Daily Commendations will now appear under the Endgame Commendations category.

Advanced Gear Mission

This new mission is the PvE equivalent of the the Recruit Gear mission for PvP.

Currently the Mission rewards 99 Tionese commendations.

I wonder whats going to happen when all the stuff known about gets released...

Will EA be able to keep their claim of content every 6 weeks? Or will it come and go as needed, like the enhanced website community/GM interaction .. or the Q&A sessions ...

I guess still no word on the double secret space flight sim.. Or was [HEROIC] Space Combat what they were referring to all along. Thanks for the update though!

I'm really excited about this patch. I'm not a fan of Space on Rails, but I didn't dislike it either. It was fun for a minigame. I'm excited to see what else they bring to it.

Did they find my missing quickslot bars?

Anyway, I'm probably not returning until they add massive multiplayer space combat. I'm guessing that will be 2015.

might be a while yet then, as im not sure that the hero engine is even capable of supporting multiplayer 3d space, or just 3d space simulation in general, let alone having a multiplayer component, to say nothing of 'massively' multiplayer one.

I agree. If the space game was released on Nintendo (3)DS I would probably buy it, as that is where the type of game is most suited, but in a MMO - It is a joke.

It was 6 weeks from 1.4 to 1.5 and probably another 6 weeks or less for the 1.6, after that probably Makeb. It wont be easy to bring new content every 6 weeks, hope they can keep doing it.

The HEROIC space combat mission is not the ¨secret space combat proyect¨, by the end of the year we will know more about that i guess.

It's so obvious there are marketing people from EA/Bioware on these forum, getting paid for subtly hyping the game, that I really don't understand how can you get upset over their threads and posts. Let them earn their salary and just ignore them if it bothers you so much.

Granted, this is common for other games and forums as well, but some are more subtle than others.

Meh, i dont get upset, i just enjoy pointing their obviousness

And 1,5 was so...small...i mean 1 small area with 6 dailies (yawn) and questline that mostly consisted of reusng old content and very complex "spawn thingy randomly placed on teh planet and let player wonder aimlessly maybe for hours to find itx5 (old)planets(zones)" yawn

1,6 is warzone (ok) and some rehashed space missions with doubled hp/damage opponents so you must upgrade your gear (big big yawn)

The new Ancient Hypergate Warzone is actually just a dumbed down version of Warhammer On-Line's "Khaine's Embrace" scenario. Instead of 12 vs. 12, it's 8 vs. 8.

It has been even further dumbed down that instead of needing to capture both pylons (as it was playable at E3) for the explosion to trigger, now it's just on a two and a half minute timer.

But whatever. Go Gabe go.

Tangental, EA has decided to spin Mythic off from Bioware again. Mythic is its own (albeit fallen from grace) own division again.

While the "new" Heroic space missions are just cheap rehashes which everyone access to the editor could create in 1 hour, they do serve a purpose and that is adding a layer of "endgame" (grind) outside the Flashpoints and raids and pvp.

So, adding daily additional farm missions for gear progression isn't all that bad. The geargrind system isn't great itself but adding options is a positive thing.
