Best f2p I´ve tried so far

NeoCroX997NeoCroX997 Member UncommonPosts: 28

Now all mmo-gamers have their own favorites and historical memories of their first mmo. My first mmo was Guild wars and now playing Rift. When this came out for closed beta, I wanted to check this game expectation before jumping right into it. I have now played it until lvl 13. So far I can see great potiental in it. Some really want to compare this to Tera. But if you look it as the game is, it really does better than other f2p mmo out there. I mean a great combat system where you actually can dodge attacks by your own actions and more realistic feel into it. Also great animations and graphic in many aspect even though it has some beutifailure and bugs. Cant really complain too much about it , since it is in beta state.

And from that point I can say it really looks good so far. The crafting system also works fine. Perfect World has always been nr 1 in the f2p mmo. And this time I think they really proved it. The ingame music is strong with different tracks, some of them really epic.  You cant expect more from a f2p mmo. And it is already crowded in servers, as well as the channels in it. The proof is all beta key´s are gone and I was a bit surprised. Though to mention it is still in beta progress and not completely without failures, though it delivers over quality than most f2p. When open beta arrives more stuff and activities will be unlocked, also pvp factor they have spoken to be great and balanced.

The challenge of this game comes to real combat feel into it. Like dodging attacks and counterattack, using skills in the right time, and forcing players to work together to slay down huge monsters. That is not all. It also have effcient storyline sometimes with cutscenes, which makes you feel important in the game. For those who have played vindictus or C9 will like this game. Since it is kind of a combination, but raiderZ is an open world game compared to the two other mentioned that is dungeonbased.

Your strength and tactics will be tested and it is not so easy at it looks. By corporating with other players you can much easier take down raid bosses that usually drop rare items you can use for crafting. To your aid you can cook food that everyone can consume to achieve buffs. Also the questing, as many people dont like to grind. It ain´t grindy at all from my first impression the questing is actually fun and variable.

I have played perfect world, shayia, last chaos, pandora saga, and many many more f2p. In my opinion this is the best so far. Not all will agree with me because we all have different taste and all have their personal thought how it should be. But for those not so experienced I would recommend RaiderZ without doubt. But I must say I was in doubt my self before I tried this game out, it couldnt hurt to try it a couple of hours. I just got stock with the game and played it all way to lvl 13 and proberbly will play it to max lvl. The game isnt bad at all, compared to many other games that really sacked me off just after couple of hours.

If you feel different about it or how you not agree with me, Im glady open ears. Maybe you never heard about ithe game and want to give it a try in open beta which comes very soon. I would though recommend this game to play in more than couple of hours. It has many features you would be surprised with, which also currently surprised me. As a f2p I think it has more than many f2p fused together. What do you think?image

Im glad you are enjoying yourself but if this is the best F2P can muster then its gonna be another ten years before someone makes one that will interest me.

I played the game to lvl 10 or so...I don't mind the gameplay mechanics so much....my beef is with the constant need to grind gear, I had to stop at farm mats at lvl 9. If that's lvl 9 I shudder to think what high lvls will be like. Also perfect world has a long history of P2W cash shops....I'v heard they said this title will NOT be P2W....But you know...Obama said he would end the drug war and romney says he will repeal healthcare sooooo....liars be lying..

Can you make your self a bit more clear about "Im joking"? No I mean what I say

Besides, RaiderZ isnt the exclusive game Im waiting for when it comes to f2p. It is has great basics and still in beta, that is why they need feedbacks to make it better. But the real game that Im excited about is Age of Wushu. Im not really into ancient china mmo. I have played 9 dragons and that´s it. But Age of Wushu should have a nice gameplay with rich activities to do. With limitless possibilities how you skills would look like. As the game is not lvl based. You can even learn how to play instruments. Many functions in that game that even P2P games doesnt have. Well Check it at the Quick game jump. RaiderZ is the best so far, but I guess we will see better in the future. But Raiderz is still the best. If you dont think samewise I would suggest you to put your favorite game in the thread.

The combat system is the ONLY redeeming value of this game. Story/cutscenes are acceptable, though they don't make a whole lot of sense most of the time. Graphics are not good enough to compete with the current generation. My main issue is the endless grind for materials to craft gear. It's insanely boring.

I agree, alot of the people posting saying the game has poor graphics and uninteresting combat are forgetting that thier is a diference between F2P and Subscription.  The diference is F2P means you are not forced to pay anything of monetary value to play the game, while subscription means you pay a monthly fee.

Combat is on the new and inovative style in that it breaks away from the majority of mmorpgs that are tab-click with no aiming, or kitability.  The manual aim, manual block, and manual dodge isn't something new but it is definetly in the right direction compared to even more tab-click mmos coming out.

Character custimization is also on the new and innovative end in that after lvl 11 you can put pts into whatever class you want and the game is overloaded with different wpns and armor; playing in CBT  I can tell you that its obvious everyone has already made different choices in regards to gear and skill pt allocation.  Again having a ton of gear and giving players the option to cross-class isn't something never done before but it is definetly in the right direction compared to the even more 1-class games coming out.

Negative now - social system sucks.  Party/Guild/Interacting with other players just sucks in this game; currently seeing that its the new and cool thing for F2Pers it has a large and supportive community, but the game doesn't make social interaction easy.   Too many little defaults in social system to currently name atm, but hopefully improvements to the social system will be patched in later since its still in CBT.

Graphics are OK if you talking about the environment. Character pretty much look like crap and character creation is laughable at best.

It's basically a free cheaply made version of Tera.

1- Ofc, RaiderZ is a cheap version of TERA, its normal ppl compare the 2 games.

2- I think RaiderZ is not  Perfect world production, they only publish, am i wrong?

3- Since i start play mmo's it as been this way...

4- Well, here i might agree with "isnt bad at all", but never "best f2p" ... imho ofc.

This game is a massive grind fest. In fact the term Asian grind fest apply well here as you're forced to slaughter dozens of mobs to complete a quest, then told to slaughter dozens more of the same mobs for their rare drops to craft armor or weapons. And this is only at level 12. Rediculous. None of the quests actually reward players with items, only coins and experience. So the only way to gear up is grind hundreds of mobs for their drops so they can craft armor and weapons.

Its also lacking TERA's instance finder and a social system that isn't utterly garbage. Basically every TERA does, it does it better than Raiderz..

I checked it out because I was hoping to find the same sort of action as C9 (haven't played Vindictus as it is blocked in my country) but with an open world.

Sadly, I didn't find RaiderZ's combat anywhere near being in the same league as C9. I was bored after less than half an hour, whereas C9 kept me hooked for some weeks before ultimately getting repetitive.

Guildwars wasn't an MMO. No matter how hard you try, it never was, and I highly doubt they will ever make it one either. You are basically stating Dota and LoL are MMO's as well.

Other than that, I am going to be giving this game a try!

  • LaromussLaromuss Member UncommonPosts: 331

Enjoying the game so far, it pretty much Tera but with more customization and choice how the character evolves.

    Pros:

    1. the action oriented combat is great, all classes can block, and dodge
    2. You're not stuck to one class, the skill tree allows you to put points into the other classes tree thus allowing you to create customizable classes such as warrior mage, sorc cleric etc.
    3. Boss fights were very fun and did not require the trinity to complete, this also included instanced boss fights as well.   A lot of the encounters required good positioning, dodging and well placed blocks.
    4. Crafting is the main part of the game as the best equipment is obtained from crafting.

    Cons:

    1. Balance issues
    2. Areas are zoned/instanced
    3. Linear quests
    4. Pvp zones are crossed with Pve quests which cause too much ganking.
    5. Level differences do effect battle outcomes

Overall a good game but with some issues but as always the game is still in beta and player feedback will definitely make it more fun.  Probably some other stuff i forgot to mention but these are the ones that come to mind at the moment.

edit:  I am max level, fully geared, completed all dungeons and killed many in open world pvp and like any other game once you get to the "end" it gets boring.

This is one of my biggest pet peeves.  I really hate it when people review or give opinions of games that they have barely scratched the surface of.  Both players and news sites do this all the time, and it drives me up the wall.

Don't give your opinions of a game untill you have played enough of it to reach the end or near end game.  Simple as that.

Games are supposed to be fun from the beginning to the end.

"Wait till the endgame or close to it to judge the game" is absurd.

When you go out for dinner and try a new restaurant and you take a few bites and it tastes horrible, do you finish both courses and wait till the dessert to take notice of how horrible it tastes?

    I highly doubt it.

I got in to closed beta for this game on the Europe servers, but at the time I didn't really have much time at all to put in to playing an MMO so all I did was run around for a couple hours and test the gameplay (which seemed good from what I could tell).

What does RaiderZ have to offer in terms of PvP?

Are their PvP servers where fights between groups will happen over bosses etc? I'd enjoy that. Or is it more of an instanced PvP kinda deal?

If it's the first one, might give it a another bash untill DF: UW.

Currently the only way to pvp is in a zone called "Mt Eda". The way it works is that the main quest eventually takes you to a zone where there is a war between two factions, you have to choose a side and do quests in the contested area of the map to progress through the main quest, however once you hit 29 you can no longer attack other players and cannot be attacked yourself, there is a higher level version called "Epic Mt Eda". There are no pvp servers but an arena is supposed to be on the way. There is a single boss called Diago in the center of this area, in the first Mt Eda he drops materials you need for a very good set of armor, in the second I'm not so sure, by this point most people ignore him and just pvp purely.

As for my take on the game...basically the game is another quest hub hopper with some action combat thrown in. I went in thinking I was just gonna kill a few hours with it and ended up getting to the cap (which isn't a feat, you level fast and the cap is only 35). It's a fun ride and all but I honestly don't see the end game ever holding up, this is what you can currently do in the end game:

Run "epic" versions of dungeons (think WoW heroics) that are laughably easy for materials for gear that is a color swap of a lower level set. You can only do 3 runs a day per dungeon (3 dungeons, you get 3 "keys" for each dungeon by doing 3 daily quests).

PvP.  This is a joke, at the moment it is currently a contest to see who can sucessfully stunlock the other person to death first, not to mention that if one faction has even 2 more people than the other in the war zone, the underdog faction gets a buff that increases all their stats, which only increases the more the difference in numbers gets.

Do what are called "Hellhound quests" where you fight previous bosses solo or with a group, nobody does the group versions as the bosses have way too much hp and the rewards are less than the solo versions. You have to do these for the only earrings in the game currently.

I find very little reason to log in anymore other than to do the dailies to hoard a bunch of keys to do a bunch of dungeons I have no need to do. It's a great time waster and if you don't mind the stone age questing system it can be a ton of fun when you finally hit that first group boss. I know it's just open beta and that a patch is coming within the next few days that is going to raise the cap(I believe) but I just don't see them adding enough that it would be worth staying for the long haul.

    Just my 2 CP

Normaly I steer clear of PWE games because of the asian generic feel to them. That being said I decided to give Raiderz a shot.I havent been able to move away from the computer. My eyes have been glued to the screen. The combat system is very nice and what a rush fighting those bosses.  I dont know if the game will hold up for those hardcore players that need new content every two weeks, but for the casual to semi hardcore players It will be a fun ride.

I dont care for the generic UI and the constant grind for mats , but hell I havent found a mmorpg yet that didnt have alot of repetitive grinding in some form or fashion. There is alot postives about the game! It has alot of potential. Like I said the boss fights are hella fun. Dodging at that perfect moment is pure excitement!

    Nice Graphics

Smooth gameplay (For the most part)

Mount crafting (Thats a new one to me)

    Epic boss fights

Dual class system ( Combine Cleric with Defender = Palidan)

    Freindly community

Its not the best F2p game on the market right now , but with good support It very well could be in the future.

From the sounds of things I'm going to assume this is a semi-casual MMO, or it is simply unfinished in its current state (maybe both?). However, I like the sounds of the PvP - the fact that it's uninstanced. Sounds nice to play for my MMO fix for time being along with some FPS whilst waiting for DF: UW.

Anyway, I downloaded the Europe client again (I hate PWE, pay2win) and yes, the game is as good as I remember. The almost-classless system is very nice. The gameplay is quite action-packed and very fluid, possibly more-so than TERA - I dunno TERA felt a bit more clunky compared to this.

The graphics are quite nice too, actually... There's some really beautiful sights to be seen in-game, they're not as good as TERA's graphics but they're definitely not lacking by any means.

Also I'm using TERA as an example here because the game 'feels' similar to it, and offers a similar basic feature-set.

The world feels quite small though from what I've played so far, then again I've just finished the first zone then logged off. Actually looking forward to having another bash when I get home later! :)

I hope Mt Eda is fun.

Biggest problem I can find with the game so far, is that it's not really very challenging (yet?). The mobs are easy to take down multiples of and the large bosses that feel as though you'd need a group to take down I would probably been capable to solo. Hope it gets rougher later.

Also, don't be worried about the population on the EU server guys, UK player here got a bit worried when I saw how few posts their was at the EU-RaiderZ forum as opposed to the US one, population seems totally fine and I've been playing at a silly time between 7-10am.

Glad I decided to give RaiderZ a bash. :)
