I think its so important to donate to games like this.

Watching companies like UBI Soft and EA sink down to nothing brings a smile to my face.

Karma is awesome!

Yea I hope this is a sign that the industry is ready to change.

If we support games this way instead of waiting on gaming companies to get with the program we will hopefully see less and less of these f2p korean games posted all over the place and clones of past games.

Large game companies will have to admit their mistakes, own up to them and start using their heads to come out with original stuff.

so if a games on kickstarter it automatically tells us it's not terrible?  or a terrible company?

Using your logic, is the reverse always true as well?  Every game is different.  Heck these forums show one thing clearly and that's most people can't agree on games.

I'm sure Star Citizen is going to be cool, but...

Yeah, I can't see everything going horribly wrong with the idea of donating cash to a possibility, never getting your money back when it fails, and the ensuing backlash.

To accomplish your ends gamers, as a unified entity, need to stop throwing good money at bad games.  If that doesn't start happening no amount of crowdsourcing is going to change the industry.  And when the first big crowdsourcing project goes up in flames and all the contributors lose their millions, it is going to get ugly.

I still think some of them, like Star Citizen, are great ideas though.  Just like there is no MMO savior, there is no development / funding approach savior either.  Developers aren't inherently moral because they crowd source or immoral because they go major lablel with a publisher.

Maybe a larger part of the problem lies with the gamer not thinking for themselves.

I go by the model of a dollar an hour. I spend 60 dollars on Skyrim and got 350 hours in it, great investment. I've spend 250 on Star Citizen because I know i'm going to spend more than 250 hours on it.

Considering that second line, you should fear karma.

Btw, I don't mind paying for games. But I will NOT pay for development.
