Japanese version currently in full release. Western version slated for Q1 2013.

  • Action-based combat -- all real-time.
  • Casual design on leveling. Little grinding.
  • No preset character class / models. Full customization.
  • Skill tree / subclass system. Three base classes, three unlockables.
  • Interchangeable classes. Switch anytime you want -- no penalty.
  • Multiple outfit / accessory combinations. Many outfits can be recolored.
  • Story mode for single players.
  • Multi-parties of up to 12 players in most dungeons. (Scripted *non-random* boss fights restricted at 4.)
  • Only PvE at the moment. PvP may be added later. No confirmation.
  • Robots. (Because everyone loves robots.)
  • Customizable player housing. Current 100 furniture item limit.
  • Auction house. All players can buy -- licensed players can sell.
  • Symbol art system. Design your own chat emotes.
  • Lobby-dungeon system. Not an open world.

F2P with cash shop. Stand-alone items, licenses, and gachas (random lottery cash shop).

The cash shop has no game-breaking features. It offers aesthetics (outfits, accessory tickets) and some upgrade items for equipment enhancement / customization. Upgrading is, in itself, wholly unnecessary, and (in my opinion) actually makes the game feel too easy.

Housing, auction house *sales*, and trading are off-limits to free players. There are monthly licenses in the cash shop for housing and listing items in the auction house. There's also a premium option that grants both of these, trading, and other perks. Currently, there's only one method for those outside of Japan to purchase cash shop currency, and the markup is high.

There are various guides online for those interested in signing up for the Japanese version. Visit bumped.org or  PSO-World's forums if you happen to be interested. Otherwise, keep an eye out for the Western release.

Chao.

Do note IP region blocks have begun for the Japanese version of the game.

"For the Angel of Death spread his wings on the blast,
And breathed in the face of the foe as he passed:
And the eyes of the sleepers waxed deadly and chill,
And their hearts but once heaved, and for ever grew still!"

I played it for a few weeks on the jap servers.

Did not like it as much. Too few maps...Umm...The dynamic events were decent but the lack of maps put me off..

True. The game does feel as if it's just getting out of beta now (content-wise). Updates have been constant, though, and the developers have mentioned adding non-dungeon content (mini-games and such) in the near future. It'll take a bit, but their track record has been good.

Have they? There was a registration ID block a few days ago, but that's been lifted for now. I'm not sure if specific regions have been blocked, though.

I have been looking around, and so far found nothing on the release date (or start of the beta) for American and Europe.  Everything has been fairly quiet since the announcement.  Has anyone found soething that I overlooked?

Since when is Tuesday a direction?

There is some kind of english beta in progress or about to start soon for the Vita.   I know there is a thread with information @PSO-World forums.

Still got a couple months to wait.

If you don't want to wait, you can play on the Japanese version.  That's where I've played and I don't plan to switch over to the NA release.

Learning Japanese at the same time, good for practice in game. :P

IMHO, you probably won't have a choice when there is a US release.  Sega doesn't really have any reason not to implement a regional block, or at the very least implement a regional block for new accounts.
