Worth coming back? Can someone point out the "new" stuff ?

I remember back in the day when SWTOR launched, with early access etc.

Played nonstop 14 days and had a good time. Then went super bored due to the pvp rules back then (dunno if its the same). But we had to buy some random bags, which may - or may not contain anything at all.

The dungeons wasnt all that impressive, and it felt more like a single player questing game than a MMORPG.

Have things changed in the game?

Is it still populated or ?

two server merges from ~250 servers world wide to 24, so population.. yes

some new stuff, but rather more of the same (one or two FP and OPs and a warzone).

    One new companion with 1.5

    Some nightmare modes for raiders...

Still no Minigames, no Space Sim, planets are still static, Ilum is dead

Nothing much changed, they dont have PvP bags any more, but they extended grind for gear exponentially, so it will take you much longer than with bags. Also PvP is much worse than it was.

Off the top of my head Since Launch, SWTOR has added the following:

    Patch 1.1:

Kaon Under Siege : Flashpoint added.

    Patch 1.2:

    Lost Island : Flashpoint added

Explosive Content: Operation added (Nightmare Mode added 1.5)

    Novare Coast: Warzone added

    Patch 1.4:

    Terror From Beyond: Operation added

    Patch 1.5:

Section X Daily added: New Companion HK-51 added.

Cartel Market added: Cash shop added.

So in total since December theyve basically added, 2 Flashpoints, 2 Operations, 1 Warzone, 1 companion, 1 cash shop.

Also of note, they removed the Open PVP Warzone: Ilum.

They also added the ability to adjust the UI, Groupfinder, did 1 major class rebalance, and tweaked the graphics a bit.

That pretty much sums up a year of SWTOR's development releases as per my recollection.

*Edit-Forgot to mention they removed Ilum. Kind of a big deal.

So far no one in my guild is the least bit interested in going back to SWTOR, the F2P stuff has put off many people. We got a full guild bank (3-4 tabs?) and you either have to pay 600 CC or sub to access it, not very helpful for our guild. Our guild leader for SWTOR is the biggest Star Wars fan I know and he is so put off by SWTOR now, he cancelled his sub over a month ago because no one in the guild was on anymore, so he has 3K+ CC waiting for him and he can't even access our guild bank nor do anything useful in the game unless he resubs again to get the 3K+ CC.

Guess this game is done for then.

    Lasted 1 year...... just LOL!

I just logged back on and honestly, the game is still bad. Server mergers, great....f2p...i guess needed to keep game alive. But what this game needs is core issues fixed/changed/modified. I mean, ill speak for all my real life buddies who quit. NONE of us quit because it was a sub game, or that there were ton of servers. WE quit because the actual game just was not good enough....its that simple.

The stuff they have added are not what will bring people back. Its the same ole, same ole. More flashpoints, more operations....who cares.....the actual game still suffers. You want this game to bring back tons of people, and keep them playing? Heres what the game needs:

    • Open world pvp with objectives and incentives to participate in. This is Sith vs Republic...what a WASTED opportunity.
    • Incentives to not have EVERYTHING hubbed through the boring, stale fleets.....we have such beautiful planets...but no one goes there to hang out like the fleet.
    • What are the chances that the Sith fleet, and Republic fleet are the EXACT same station. Seriously, why did the devs go lazy on the ONE place where the majority of the players will spend most of their time in?
    • Complete redesign of space - this starfox type doesnt belong in a MMO.
    • Housing, housing, housing....many people want this, it has soo much potential. But, they want us to be in our ships for housing.....ok....well EXPAND on that! Wheres all the customizations....purchasing items, decorations, utitlies....and how about being able to invite friends to see our ship homes? Open to public...have rankings. (look at EQ2 and Rift for housing Bioware).
    • More activities at level 50! Mini-games, pod racing, etc...
    • Chat bubbles, ability to use furniture through the game world, make bars/cantinas incentive hangout spots...they were and are still barren spots...sad
    • More character progression - something like Advancement Achievements like EQ2 or Planar Attunement in Rift....people love have more and more customization and ways to get your character more powerful
    • More unique playable races! Wheres the wookies, the jawas, rodians, etc....cmon now, seriously
    • Guild levels - Give guilds incentives to have goals. Put levels in, put rewards in as they get higher...people want things to work on
    • Make each tier of gear more unique - i cant believe the same set bonus still applies from Rakata to Dread gear...really? Wow thats so much incentive to get those.
    • Much better looking armor! - Wow so much of the high end gear looks so awful, i though they acknowledged it and was going to have new looks coming....but black hole, and dread gear...are the EXACT same armor just different colors! Wow....just wow.
    • Server wide chat so we can stay connected and not be alienated! Make level tiered chat 1-9, 10-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, and 50. We dont like to be cut off from the world when we zone into a dead planet and can no longer continue chatting with people.
    • Make crafting more deep. Its all so automated and shallow. Its boring, no real customization
    • Make OUR character more powerful and LESS reliant on our companions! WE are the HERO or VILLIAN, we never feel powerful or strong because we cant do anything without our companions....its as if THEY are the real heroes...without them we would always fail.....not cool. You should be able to hold your own....companions being a cherry on top, but not the focus.
    • Make world bosses a worthwile inncentive to search out and destroy. Give them unique and powerful items that can ONLY be found such mobs. Usually in most mmos...having a world boss roaming around meant you going to get some damn crazy loot that rivals or even sometimes passes some raid loot.
    • Guild stations - I guess they are working on it? Who knows
    • Breathe more life into the worlds, get it less static, give it weather, give it night and day time. Have certain mobs appear at night as opposed to day.
    • Make going Light, Neutral, Dark standing actually mean something. It needs a purpose, a reason, a motiviation to go one side as opposed to another. Rewards, benefits, story, something!
    • Mentoring system - Hello this is SWTOR...its a perfect setup to have Jedi Masters take on Padawans under their wing! Or Sith Lords to take theirs as well. Surely something like this would be a good feature if put in right.

Ok getting tired...yeah it needs alot of stuff

Meh, it is still a lot of wasted development cost and lame flash with no real bang. I really wanted to LOVE this game, left, cameback, left, cameback, ooohhhh look FTP option.....pathetic excuse of FTP option.

    TL;DR: Dont comeback! It's a TRAP!

    Sorry for party rockin.....
