Ive been off the MMO "world" for a long time, please tell the good news!

What changed in our MMORPGs?

Did anything changed on the monetization model?

Did anything changed on the design of games?

Any new game with anything original and new to look forward?

Any new MMORPG that manages to keep our attention for many months?

Thank you for your attention.

What changed in our MMORPGs?  More cash shop items etc.

Did anything changed on the monetization model?  Seems to have gotten worse

Did anything changed on the design of games?  They appear to be moving more towards single player co-op games

Any new game with anything original and new to look forward?  Maybe Archage and wolrd of darkness, but they are likely a way off.  Origins of malu could be worth a quick peak, but am not holding my breath.  Darkfall is also getting a reboot(although seems to be mostly a graphics update) if you're looking for a pvp arena.

Any new MMORPG that manages to keep our attention for many months?  Nope.

    Thank you for your attention.

Did anything changed on the design of games? -Some advancements in PvE gameplay. Some steps away from the old, arcaic questing. E-sport hasn't delivered in GW2 so far. No advancements in other PvP styles.

Any new game with anything original and new to look forward? -From the upcoming MMOs? -Nothing really.

Any new MMORPG that manages to keep our attention for many months? -Nope. But in my case it is very unlikely anyway.

When going by these forums all MMOs are great just before release and suck 1 week after.

Basically, no longer people stay in the same MMO for long. Now they just hop from MMO to MMO every couple of months.

Did anything changed on the monetization model?

F2P all over. Some companies have subs AND cash shop. Crowdfunding is getting popular.

Did anything changed on the design of games?

World is less static. Combat is faster.

More solo oriented. Leveling faster. Less depth. More instanced. Smaller worlds. More casual friendly.

Any new game with anything original and new to look forward?

Not really. There are some games that may deliver in the future, but still none of them is really new or original.

Any new MMORPG that manages to keep our attention for many months?

     Read my first answer.

    Thank you for your attention.

Originality is overrated. people who are hung up on this term can wait for ever.

However OP you should keep an eye out for Archage , Repopulation and Star citizen if you looking for something different and non themepark.

If you say no then I will concede your point.

I was pretty sure this wasn't a serious thread by the OP, the post history confirms it.

Things are grand.  Just look at the list of blockbuster MMO hits in the last 4 years.

Well, if you define "grand" in $$, then yes, things are going swimmingly. However, if you define "grand" in quality...

Basically what we have now are more solo campaign games with multiplayer rooms than MMOs.

Create your character -> achieve level cap in 3 days through a single player campaign -> have fun in multiplayer chores for 1 month or so -> unninstall the game -> go to the next MMO.

I think it is made to attract FPS players to MMOs.

So many people ignore what trolling actually is, yet they use the expression so often, that the word is starting to mean something different to what it did.

I am with you. The average quality has gone down, down, down, down (repeat ad infinitum).

    Depends on what you want.

The technical aspects are better - GW2 is a good example with beautiful graphics and great sound.

Gameplay is mostly aimed at the casual solo player with some new ways of promoting a new type of grouping where people barely talk (rifts in Rift, Dynamic Events in GW2)

Very few people stick around any new one longer than 2-3 months

So...what are you looking for in an MMO?

Graphically they've improved quite a bit.

In every other aspect they've swirled down the drain.
