Silly. The game isn't ready. I've seen this gamer bait and switch before:
GAMER: OMG U taking too long, open the beta nao!
DEV: Ok, here's the game - keep in mind it's in beta so it's not complete yet.
GAMER: OMG DIS GAME SO BUGGY, IT SUX. I TOLD U DFUW WOULD FAIL.
Thats becouse devs rarely ever change anything from open beta to live, I dont know anything about darkfall and they might be a special snow flake in this case. But 99% of the open betas i have been in is the same game at release. They might fix bugs that 1% of the population experience while keeping the bugs that 40% population experience.(made up numbers but not to far from the truth)
So you are going to "wait to see" if anything has changed because you have no idea. But in the mean time you are going to slag everything off, from a position of having no idea.
Cool.
Yes, based on Aventurine's past where DF was promised to have all kinds of features yet it went to launch, with a sliver of those features, and full of bugs, ugly UI and both ugly and poor performing GFX.
So it is just common sense that anything else they do after that be met with a healthy degree of scepticism and for me that means they need to show me actual game play footage before I believe anything they say.
Again there is a difference between skepticism/caution, and slagging off systems as though you already know how they are going to turn out.
GFX are subjective btw, I happen to think the game world looked pretty good considering the scale and open nature of it. I certainly don't recall any better looking massive, seemless, open game worlds in mmos.
"Come and have a look at what you could have won."
The biggest warning sign for me, is that they only have their own "inhouse beta"-test. I reckon they wanna make some easy bucks from the get go to have peeps jump in and test what prolly will be a bugged rid mess. But I´m prolly gonna be one of those suckers to. :P
Looking at the past, they got absolutely flamed and a ton of bad reviews for the staggered launch resulting in some people not being able to play for upto a month maybe more. It really hurt their reputation.
Now this time around 150,000 people will already have the game, they can jump in for the price of the sub.
Many more people will be wanting to buy and play the game simply because it offers what no other game can.
Two severs 15k concurrent players. That's 30k players on the max online at one time. They simply can't support the massive load of players that comes with high exposure.
Guess the first sentence in todays blog update ....
"As we count down towards Darkfall Unholy Wars, we would like to suggest that you get your accounts in order and to ask you to please update your account information."
Sure AV you want my money, but could you please tell me what i get for it? what about a public beta ? helps you stress test you servers at that...why you dont want me to know what i should subscribe to ?
-----MY-TERMS-OF-USE-------------------------------------------------- $OE - eternal enemy of online gaming -We finally WON !!!! 2011 $OE accepted that they have been fired 2005 by the playerbase and closed down ridiculous NGE !!
"There was suppression of speech and all kinds of things between disturbing and fascistic." Raph Koster (parted $OE)

What a drama queen. If the $10-15 subscription fee is too step, you can always wait until the reviews are out. No one is forcing you to purchase DF-UW sight on seen.
It seems AV is hiding DF UW so much because it's rapidly turning into a WoW clone, and a lot of Darkfall 1.0 players are clearly bitterly unhappy about the changes.
When people who loved Darkfall 1.0 are thinking $10-$15 might be more than it's worth to pay for the game, warning bells should be going off over in Aventurine. As one player put it, "we didn't ask for archers to s**t arrows out of our a**" and "So the fix to mages being overpowered was just to give everyone mage-like abilities?" - alas, it does indeed seem to be so.
There is nothing wrong with playing Mage Wars, but of course there are plenty of quality mage vs mage games out there already. The more players see of Darkfall, the less they seem to be liking the new game - and that is a very very big problem for Aventurine.

I could give a sh$t about the remaining DF1 players, many more of us left DF1 for various reasons by 2010. DF-UW will have no shortage of players, regardless of the few thousand that were clinging to DF1. 150,000 vs what 4-5000?
Care to list one full loot mage vs mage game?
Secondly, theres entirley too much speculation on 2X 1 minute videos.

Dont worry. I fixed his post for him. See the red.
Fortunately he doesnt speak for any sort of majority of current or past players of DF.
I agree the speculation is pretty ridiculous considering we have seen 2 of 16 roles available. People like Flute are acting as if Deadeye (just 1 of 4 skirmisher roles) is the only change happening and try to compare it to what exists in DF1, not what exists in UW (because they have no knowledge of what exists yet). Its basically just complaining for the sake of complaining without any sort of real facts to base their comparisons on for what will actually exist.
I just think its amusing, as I posted in another thread, that people are complaining about changes to "archers". It sounds as if they want an archer role, but who just has nothing but a normal bow shot. No actual skills with varying effects and capabilities. Just pewpewpew people in the face with plain old standard arrow shots instead of an actual bow specialized class with its own unique abilities.
The reason why they are hiding it is that they want zero hype.
The people that have played the original Darkfall will line up to betatest this launch and latest build of Darkfall. Eventually once we work all the bugs out AV might do some publicity. That's assuming that DF:UW comes out on November 20. It might end up getting pushed back till early next year.
Their a small company, and I'm 90% sure they are a bit quiet because of this fact, they don't have the money to put up a server every 5 minutes like what happened with SWTOR.

And who's fault is that?
Talk about being premature
Yes three weeks before alleged launch is premature to see some proper gameplay vids...
BACK IN THE DAY- you didnt know what you was getting! I remember the commercials. No gameplay in there!
Well, back in the day you had to go out to buy Playboys in front of many people or had to manually get a porn tape...
So true!
The lighthearted point was you dont need to know everything about a game before deciding if you want to play it. it kills the excitement. There is oodles of info on what DF was/is, so use that as base expectations and dont spoil it for yourself.
The lack of info. on this game is ridiculous this close to launch. I'd love to give the game a try because there were things I really liked in Darkfall but I'm not going to play sucker again.
If I had to guess, I'd say that in fact are hiding info.

Well this video shows one of the new roles, the new graphics and a bit of the new interface.
Doesn't show all the roles just a warrior running around a bit.
What happens when you log off your characters????.....

Dark Age of Camelot
thats why i said it shows one of the roles.. but only 2 skills in the role.
Will probally get another video today with a few more of the skills..
They can't afford to build too much hype.
