Guild Wars 2: More Halloween Goodies

ArenaNet has updated the official Guild Wars 2 site with news about this year's Halloween festivities in game. It's great news for everyone.

“Our Halloween celebrations are in full swing, costume brawls are aplenty and the Shadow of the Mad King is falling across Tyria. Because we are as excited as you are, we will add another opportunity for you to get shiny Halloween goodies.

You will be glad to hear that we are adding recipes to the Mystic Forge that will allow you to throw stuff you get from the Black Lion Chests into it to get a special Halloween chest (no key needed for this one). These chests will include Halloween specific loot and give you a second chance to get one of the terrifying, rare Halloween skins. Here is the recipe we will add:

You need 1 Candy Corn, 6 Mystery Tonics, 1 Boost (any), 1 Boost (any) to get a Mad King Chest.

We hope you like this gruesome addition, we will let you know immediately when they will be in the game – enjoy the celebrations!”

    is nice to give people more options for skins who want them.. although I'm afraid now they won't be as rare making them less unique.. but we will see.. since mystery tonics are craftable the main thing holding people back are boosts which most people probably have a lot of.. i know I got about 50+ boosts sitting in my bank now

    I angered the clerk in a clothing shop today. She asked me what size I was and I said actual, because I am not to scale. I like vending machines 'cause snacks are better when they fall. If I buy a candy bar at a store, oftentimes, I will drop it... so that it achieves its maximum flavor potential. --Mitch Hedberg

    I hope it doesn't. It seems that any and every attempt thus far at intergrating the console market into the MMO market have failed. And in my opinion I'm glad they have failed. I'd rather not have console gamers stinking up our filthy hovels. It stinks enough here as it is ;) But really...if they somehow magically succeeded in doing this the MMO market would become unbearable. You think the lolzor trolls and pwning gear mongers are bad now...just you wait 'till the super competitive Console gamers come and grace us with their presence.

    I'm a bit disappointed by the halloween event so far. I hope it gets better.

    remember they mentioned something about possible console release during the summer but then heard nothing... but yea i'd rather it not get ported to consoles.. even though console gaming is a MUCH bigger industry overall

    FFXI actually did rather well. The community was rather good also. Though that may have been due to the IP. 

     

    And hopefully all those making continuos post about how greedy Anet is take note of this thread :)

    game is already a console level game, with less depth than a lot of console games, including DCUO.  It really couldn't hurt, and would probably get a decent following on the ps3.

    Also disappointed by the holiday event. Only LA seems to be involved no other cities. Plus there isn't much to do with it. A few new recipies, can carve pumpkins for a title, the ONE quest to get the book, and a mabye if your extremely lucky you can open a chest and get something besides junk.

    curious what you were expecting from a holiday event? also event is far from complete still 3 more acts so well see what else they have in store

    its first act  there are act 2, 3 and 4 starting from tommorow

    and will finish with grand finale :P

    Halloween weapons don't seem all the special, at least the one I got was nothing special. It had a 3 hour expire on it and had I know what would happen when it did expire I would have got rid of it sooner. On expiry, it dislpays a message character being overloaded, and prevents you from doing any further fighting until you sort out the problem. Also being a low lvl character i allready had a better weapon in my inventory that I could have been using. I doubt I will bother trying any further so called special weapons this halloween. maybe if I was a higher lvl it might be different!

    Have to pay for it but just do the daily / monthly achievements and you should be fine.

    I suggest not burning your crafting boosters since you will just waste them and they are actually worth using as intended. I made about 25 of these new chests and got another ugly pair of shoulders. If i could redo it. I woulda kept my boosters for sure.
