Is... this for real? Have we reached a new low for F2P MMOs?

Exactly, you have to pay for it. Over-all its not AS bad as I was expecting at least. Some stupid things here and there though that artifact equipment deal is one of the biggest things I'm not fond at all of.

Well sorry, forgot to mention the qucik bar option. That for sure is a MASSIVE NO NO. Appearance option, sure I can live with but really, limiting spots a player can use? Yeah, thats not going to fly.

It's a one time purchase though. I looked at new armor sets and I already see myself spending tons of CC LOL

4 quick bars are sufficient for most part. Not sure how many F2P will get. I will try to find out. I am really glad I will get 6 though LOL, I like to have all my "crap" in range of my mouse click.

Key word, Purchase. You shouldn't have to pay access for what you can already get. I have no problem with areas giving that loot being locked but when you can play and have stuff that you earn or need to play locked, its a very serious problem to me. Again, its not the worst cash shop but theres many things like equipment lock and quickbar lock that really pushes my buttons in a negative way and makes me hesitant on touching the game.

If they give F2P players four quick bars - it's what we already have. Two additional are new and I don't think you really need them. Well, except me /grin.

New video about cartel market - very detailed presentation by one of players on PTS.

As it is PTS it's still subject to change... maybe they will listen to some players advices like they did with gral color in 1.4and changed it. Hope they will take from CC some of the stuff the guy in video mentions, like hide head slot ....

    Ball Toss
    Cartel Market Item

Use: Throws a ball at any target within 30 meters which bounces harmlessly off their head. (Cooldown: 6 seconds)

Animation looks exactly like the huttball throw. Only difference is it bounces a couple times after it hits the target's head.

    LMAO :)

I'd be more inclined to play this again if I knew how many of my character names I lost.

Does anyone know if there is a way to tell without subscribing?

Playing: varies every day it seems.

I don't believe it's possible. At least I never heard of it. The best probably to check it out when it's F2P as you will have to choose which characters you would prefer to play (I think they give 2 slots per server). You would see immediately which characters need to be renamed at this time.

Thanks for the quick reply! Keep sticking with SWTOR; it's encouraging to us sitting on the fence.

    Which translates to :

"Able to equip all purple gear aquired, as long as they meet the in-game requirements (level, class, etc.)."

Which would make sense seeing the site clearly marks it as "Unlimited" which the English tip tool contridicts.

Edit: The Deutsch translation also says the same thing as the French translation, so I'm quite sure it's just a mistake on the English translation.

"Alle erhaltenen violetten Gegenstände können ausgerüstet werden, wenn die Anforderungen im Spiel erfullt sind (Klasse, Stufe usw.)."

Maybe it is a conspiracy? If people complain too much they can always say it was an error, if not they say the French and Dutch translation is the error...

Seriously, I dont think they are stupid enough to not include this in the subscription, that would actually loose them more players than just staying as P2P.

I am also surprised about those 5 medcenter visits, it sounds stupid to me (even though it at least doesnt punish the competent players). It will only hurt the noobs, the people they really do want to get to keep playing, they are the reason you want to have F2P in the first place.

EA need to think a little more on this if they want to turn the game around, being a little generous would actually earn them more points with the players and have the potential to bring back a lot of more people.

Their problem, dear Loke666 is, that Bioware is ABSOUTELY incapable to make cool looking armor and gear, lol. Otherwise they would rely on their skills to make tons of cool looking gear.  God knows I poured tons of money into REAL good looking gear in Champions Online and several Asia MMOs. Alas Bioware just could not make good looking armor if their LIFES depended on it. See SWTOR and all their single player RPGS ever since KOTOR1.  XD

Ok, I am sure someone can dig out THE one decend looking gear, but my point still stands. Fashion is NOT the strength of Bioware. Like, not at all.

EDIT: And what's with characters which were made before, got purple and all stuff, can they F2P or is their purple taken away?

Oh and where are my NAMES Bioware stole for me by forcing me on another server and then take my DAY 1 LEVEL 50 char names AWAY for some level 3 noob???

Oh and WHERE are the PROMISED very soon after launch coming Same Gender Romance Arcs?

Bah, altogether I don't want to play this farce of a game again.

Ok, some stuff looked ok. I still cringe calling it good. I saw games with REALLY good fashion and gear, and this was not it. Because this is good, then some games we need new hyperbole words.

God that pissed me off so much. I had THREE names, created them on DAY ONE, even with the expensive preorder+collectors edition, and I played them to level 50, 50 and 45, and then my server was said to move and I LOST ALL of them for some noobs below level 10! LIKE ALL of them, after they got famous and made a story and being the famous Sith or Jedi XYZ my names were stolen!

I am still so mad at Bioware for handling the merge like this, and not giving the older char the higher priority.

Taha, ok, if you never played the game before, that is what I too would suggest. But I guess most people on this forum are prolly returners, rather. Not sure.

The restrictions are horrible, you basically still have to pay a sub to experience this game or you'll just be a poor bum wandering around the game without a sub- at least they took out the vehicle and GTN restrictions. Really, I don't understand how someone could be excited about this game going F2P.

Most of the people in my guild and myself has uninstalled SWTOR, I think there's only TWO members in my guild that still plays it.

I don't like having to buy equipment training to wear epics but if its a one time purchase for my character im ok with that (as long as its not too expensive).

I like that i can increase inventory space with in game coin.

It also seems they dropped the race restriction on character creation, if not then im ok with that as i only ever make human characters.

    Playing: Nothing

    Looking forward to: Nothing

Bioware/EA still have no clue and their game will still fail because of their idiocy. It's not hard to make F2P work as there are many many MMO's out their that are shining examples of how it should be done and it wouldn't take an idiot to realise this, but not Bioware/EA it seems.

Then when it does crash and burn, they'll be scratching their empty heads wondering why.
