Hmmm every rare item collecting dust in my house on Talus in SWG.  I alwys loved the daily emails of people looking to buy the stuff in my house.  Good times.

    After that...benediction of course.

My first EQ epic I ever finished.... Spear of Fate... took me almost a year the first time to do that quest.

My rangers 1.0 I didn't MQ either, that was a fun one.

But I also enjoyed my complete set of Dragon Slayer armor on my hunter in Vanilla WoW, I really loved showing that set off, because it was so hard at the time to complete the set before AQ released.

    'a dog'.

I purchased Ultima Online shortly after it launched, I was a young lad, of 12 or 13, I started in Trinsic and as I wandered through the city toward the gates I stumbled upon another player taming an eagle, I watched him intently for a moment until he successfully made the bird his pet, so, also wanting a pet I followed suit and started typing "Here now, won't you be my friend?", and other messages that automatically pop up when one uses the taming skill on an animal.

Eventually, after laughing his ass off no doubt, the other tamer taught me how to access my skills window and how to properly tame, so I did just that, to the first animal I came across 'a dog'.

With my new faithful pet, we traveled North on the map, referencing my cloth map I knew this was the way to Britiannia, half way there two others players popped out of hiding and Heavy Crossbowed my to death, then I had to watch from the black & white perspective as a ghost as a single bolt killed my pet dog.

They rattled off in 1337 speak and I'm sure I replied in a series of furious OoOooo's.

It was at that point I decided I was going to be a PK, and that MMORPG's were here to stay as a hobby. Thx dog.

RDM Pimp hat from FFXI, from the day I joined the game I seen someone with that hat, I had to have one.  I went neked everywhere for the rest of the day just wearing that hat.

Everquest. Mine was a "circlet of shadow" for my SK, a no-cast-time invisibility that was later replaced with the "circlet of shadowS". That was of course before AA invisibility and was an item that enhanced SK gameplay by ALOT at the time. The cool thing was that the original items remained unchanged and in game, they just didnt drop anymore.

Also EQ, was my "mask of tinkering", an gnome illusion clicky that only existed in very limited amount in the game. It dropped in the original sleepers tomb. When a guild completed the quests in that zone till the end the sleeper was awakened and the loot table changed FOR EVER. Thus the rare amount of masks of tinkering in the whole game, one of the most sought after items.

In EQ1 there was an armor set, I don't remember what it was called now, that was Erudite paladin and cleric only.  I believe two of the three pieces were easy to get a hold of but the chest piece was a random loot from the giant frog boss in the bottom of the warrens.  It was a beautiful midnight blue color and completely unique looking.  The stats weren't even that great but it was so good looking I wore it all the time.  I also loved that it was unique to Erudite paladin and clerics considering there weren't that many of us at all to begin with.

Most cherished from any MMO? I don't know about all that but there was an item I took great pride in having.

Vanguard:SoH back in it's prime my monk had several uncommonly items like the panther illusion mask, jump boost boots, and my beloved legendary Stormslam bladed staff which was extremely powerful and lasted me until raid gear. The staff was very rare sight to see so by having it felt uniquely special. It probably had to do with the fact that the questline for it had a few broken parts in it. Regardless, I rallied a group of others that had the same determination that I had to weild it. With several days of working together and a few GM tickets for assistance we all achieved our legendary mistral weapons and parted ways. Later in our travels when bumping into each other, a nod of recognition was required because of then.

IMO What is needed for such and attachment:

-requires a challenge solo and as a group

    -takes time to get

-not easily replaced or becomes redundant

-not obtained by normal means of leveling

-unique appearance, stats, or added effects

Definitely my Singing Short Sword for my bard in Everquest..

those epic quests were so difficult and long that it felt like a REAL ACCOMPLISHMENT when you finally got your epic.Something that is non existant these days.

Also,my Mask of Obtenebration which gave the Erudite illusion. Not many people had it at the time and it made me feel truly unique.I pretty much spent all my game time from then on as an Erudite bard just for that reason...lol

    Unicorn Mount Quest

    By Slyde

This guide does not include details that are provided in the text of the quest. Instead, it provides travel tips, location coordinates, time estimates, level requirements, mob levels, and other information to help you get through this quest line. All quests provided accurate waypoints for the mobs and NPCs.

    Required Factions: Unicorns of Silverlake

Recommended Bind Spots: It is highly recommended that you bind in an area that is near a riftway stone. This will greatly reduce your travel time. Binding in Lomshir for Part 2 will also help.

Note: I started this quest line with a 21 Cleric (2-boxing a 47 Rakurr Shaman). Also, I did this with Randolph the Flying Reindeer, so my travel times were faster than normal, but I adjusted my estimates accordingly.

Time to complete quests will vary depending on a variety of factors (competition for mobs, grouped/solo, level, run speed, Riftway usage, levitate, etc...) ___________________________________________________________________________________________________

    Part 1: ~4.5 hours, 3 Quests (1 Task), ~150 kills

Location: Congregation of the Zar (-1600, -24500, 50500 in Silverlake (-25 27)) east side of lake, or on the island.

To Get Here: Riftway to Silverlake.

NPC: Myrthion the Unicorn on Unicorn Rock (-34800, -75600, 52800) in Silverlake (-25, 27)

Task: Kill Zar Ritualists until you get a Unicorn Horn (may drop off other Zar as well)

    Required Level: None

Faction: Unicorns of Silverlake (+1) Zar Crystal Disciples (-1)

    Mob Level: 21-22 3-dot

Kills: Random drop (got mine in 3 kills - they seem to drop more often from mobs off the island)

Time: 10 minutes (travel) 10 Minutes killing

Quest #1: The End of Innocence. Right-click the Unicorn Horn to get the quest.

    Required Level: 21

Faction: Unicorns of Silverlake (+1) Zar Crystal Disciples (-1)

Mob Level: 21-22 3-dot, Zar (the Leader) is 22-23 4-dot

    Time: 2-3 hours or more.

Part 1: Collect Flowers (Flowers are found near the Congregation of the Zar and on the Island of Zar. Once you pick one, the item description will tell you how many you need to collect (40 Yellow, 30 Red, 30 Violet). Be prepared to kill a lot (125-150) of Zar, as they are very close to the flowers.

    Kills: 125-150

    Time: 2-3 hours or more.

Tip: In a group only one person needs to collect the flowers and summon Zar. Everyone in the group will get to loot a Wand of Possession.

Note: If doing this solo it is possible you could 'run out' of a certain color of flower. When I had gathered 40 Yellow and 30 Violet I only had 12 Red. Since I was unable to harvest any more Yellow or Violet, eventually there were no more Red (all spawns were Yellow or Violet). One option is to put the flowers in the bank in nearby Lakeview, then you will be allowed to harvest all of the colors again. Once you collect what you need, and retrieve those in the bank, you may need to re-log to get the quest to update. Another option is to delete a few of the flowers that are complete, so you can harvest more and hope the ones you need spawn in their place.

Part 2: Slay the leader of the Zar (take the 100 flowers to the alter on the Island of the Zar. Kill all of the Zarr followers on the alter. Right-click on the alter to summon Zar. Kill him and loot a Wand of possession.

Kills: 4-5 (those on alter plus Zar)

    Time: 5-10 minutes

Note: The flowers are consumed when you click the alter. Therefore, if you fail to kill the leader and he despawns, you will need another set of flowers to summon him again.

Part 3: Bring the Unicorn Horn and the wand of possession to the unicorn Myrthion on Unicorn Rock (on a hill directly north of Silverlake). Note: there are other unicorns near the rock, the one for the quest is named Myrthion.

Quest #2: Myrthion's Cousin (escort Laefel)

    Required Level: 21

    Time: 40 minutes (round-trip travel)

Part 1: Speak With Sergeant Fisher

Travel to: Fisher's Pen (92200, 87700, 26550) in Ocean Watch (-27, 28). You can take the route through the Trengal Keep chunk, or go through The Deebs, which may be safer. Speak to Sergeant Fisher, he tells you that Laefel is on a hill to the west.

Part 2: Find Laefel (64000, 80400, 37800) and escort him back to Unicorn Rock. Note: It appears that each member of a group must escort Laefel separately.

Quest #3: Journey to Shadow's Edge (find the unicorn Adaenyl near Lomshir in Qalia)

    Required Level: 22

    Time: 20 minutes (travel)

    Part 2: ~3.5 hours, 5 Quests, ~50 kills

    Location: Shadow's Edge (-81100, 86200, 17100) in Lomshir (-15, -9).

To Get Here: Take the riftway from Silverlake to Hathor Zhi or Temple of Dailuk. Head east to Shadow's Edge.

Tip: Bind in Lomshir City for this step since you will be returning here often.

    NPC: Adaenyl

Quest #4: End the Cruelty (kill 45 Aeoker Dark Elves in the ruins northeast of Shadow's Edge)

    Required Level: 22

    Mob Level: 24 3-dot

    Kills: 45

    Time: 45-60 minutes

    Reward: Ring of Allegiance

Quest #5: Keys to the Finder (Gather 3 keys from Skrilien Witch Doctors)

    Required Level: 23

Faction: Skrilien Lizardmen (-1) Upside Alliance (+1) Mekelia (+1) Tauthien Tribe (+1)

    Mob Level: 23-24 2-dot

Kills: Random (could be as low as 2)

Tip: The 3 items only drop off the Witchdoctors. The first time I did this quest, I got all 3 items in 5 kills. The 2nd time took about 20 kills. The 3rd time I had to clear the entire camp 3 times before I got them. Lots of adds, so be careful.

Time: 15 minutes (killing) 15 minutes (round-trip travel, riftway Hathor Zhi to Skrilien Point)

Quest #6: Testing the Finder (Re-establish contact with Raynien the unicorn)

    Required Level: 23

    Time: ~60 minutes (round-trip travel)

Tip: Raynien is on an island 4 chunks west of Lomshir. Travel by boat, levitation, or flying mount will reduce the time. Location (-18800, -56300, 14300) in Jalen's Retreat.

Quest #7: Unicorns of Kojan (Re-establish contact with the unicorns Grathael and Athanalor)

    Required Level: 23

Time: ~60 minutes (round-trip travel, take Hathor Zhi rift to Tanvu). Recall back to Hathor Zhi when finished.

Tip: Each unicorn is on a separate island, both are north of Tanvu. Travel by boat, levitation, or flying mount will reduce the time. Athanalor is on an island 2 chunks north of Tanvu (49700, 35300, 8100) in Ceros Isle (-19, 8). Grathael is 4 chunks north, and 1 chunk west of Tanvu.

    Reward: Choice of Allegiance gloves:

Quest #8: Extraordinary Response (take the Ceratescryer to the unicorn Medratheda in Strand of the Ancients)

    Required Level: 24

Time: 20 minutes (take the Hathor Zhi riftway to Skrilean Point and run south. If you are above level 30 you can rift to Zossyr Hakrel)

    Part 3: ~3.5 hours, 4 Quests, 92 kills

    Location: Medratheda's Herd (-32400, 75600, 9540) in Strand of the Ancients (-10, -9).

To Get Here: Take the Hathor Zhi riftway to Skrilean Point or Zossyr Hakrel. The herd is at the south end of the Strand of the Ancients chunk.

    NPC: Medratheda

Quest #9: Those Who Seek Us Out (kill 55 threatening Skrilien in Ssre'vessk)

    Required Level: 24

Faction: Skrilien Lizardmen (-1) Upside Alliance (+1) Mekelia (+1) Tauthien Tribe (+1)

Mob Level: 23-26 2-4 dots (only the 25-26 3-dots count for the quest)

    Kills: 55

    Time: 60-90 minutes

Tip: Watch out for roaming groups of 26 3-dots. Best bet is to pick off the Soothsayers around the trees, or those guarding the slaves.

Quest #10: Eradicating the Danger (collect 37 Strand Snapper Tail Spikes, 100% drop rate)

    Required Level: 24

    Mob Level: 25-26 2-dot

    Kills: 37

    Time: 40 minutes

    Reward: Amulet of Allegiance

Quest #11: Celebration of Sanctuary (feed 15 unicorn foals)

    Required Level: 25

    Time: 30-45 minutes

Tip: This quest can be very frustrating, as the foals wander and it is hard to keep track of which ones you have fed. Killing a foal is a -100 faction hit, so that's not an option. One suggestion is to form a group and use the raid markers to flag the ones you have fed.

Quest #12: A detection in Thestra (speak to the unicorn Telodaen in Thestra)

    Required Level: 25

Time: 10 minutes (take riftway from Skrilien Point to Shrine of the Flame in Thestra)

    Part 4: ~4.5 hours, 5 Quests, 130 kills

Location: One chunk north of New Targanor (40700, 87500, 13785) in Shrine of the Flame (-27, 25).

To Get Here: Take riftway from Skrilien Point to Shrine of the Flame in Thestra). Levitation will help a lot, as the unicorn is on a ledge that may be difficult to reach.

    NPC: Telordaen

Quest #13: An Insult to Masaras (kill 45 brownies)

    Required Level: 25

    Mob Level: 26 2-dots

    Kills: 45

    Time: 45 minutes

Tip: No need to go to second camp unless others are killing at the first camp too. Easy to single-pull and solo. First brownie camp is very close to the unicorn Telordaen.

Quest #14: Worst of the Interposers (kill 47 Ashendreg at ruins, and 23 at Thwarter Camp)

    Required Level: 26

Mob Level: 26 3-dot (Thwarter Camps) 25-26 3-4 dots (Ruins)

    Kills: 70

Tip: At the ruins only the ones inside the fort count towards the quest (25 4-dot Conquerors, 26 3-dot Preservers). Definitely need a small group for the ruins, camps can be soloed.

    Time: 2 hours

Quest #15: Roc Solid (collect 15 Roc retrixes)

    Required Level: 26

    Mob Level: 26-27 3-dot

    Kills: 15 (100% drop rate)

Time: 1 hour (30 minutes travel, 30 minutes killing – Rocs are scattered so it takes a while)

    Reward: Choice of Allegiance Bracer

    Required Level: 27

    Time: 10 minutes (travel)

Tip: Daesyril is on the island and surrounded by Ettercaps, you may have to kill a few to get to her.

    NPC: Daesyril

Quest #19: Destroy the Ettercaps (kill 45 Ettercaps on the island or on the shore)

    Required Level: 27

    Mob Level: 27 3-dot

    Kills: 45

    Time: 45-60 minutes

Quest #20: Make Known My Story (return to Mattanien Jent)

    Required Level: 27

    Time: 10 minutes (travel)

    NPC: Mattanien Jent

To Get Here: Recall to your bind point (preferably near a tier 1 rift stone) and rift to Celestine Ward.

Note: You will have up to 3 quests going at a time. The time estimate for each quest is for that part alone, and does not include the time of the sub-quests.

NPC: Enorian Andowyn (Enorian is the Cleric Instructor and is located in the basement of the tower)

Quest #22: Trapped Unicorns (speak to and aid the unicorn Delsyr, one chunk north of the Wardship)

    Required Level: 28

    Time: 20 minutes (travel)

Tip: Delsyr is in the innermost part of a valley and you will have to pass/fight through Bloodhowler mobs to reach him. Levitation could help you pass over them. Location is (65000, 64000, 32600) in Vault of Heroes (-23, 26)

Reward: A 'pet' Unicorn and a choice of Allegiance armor.

    NPC: Delsyr

Quest #23: Retrieve Our Lost Kin (kill 42 Bloodhowlers, then travel to the unicorns Nathefel and Thanion)

    Mob Level: 28-29 3-dot

    Kills: 42

    Time: 60 minutes

Tip: If soloing, it's not too hard to pull singles up to the unicorn hill. The Bloodletters heal, so the Trappers are faster kills.

Step 2: Travel to Nathefel (on an island (78400, -76000, 1150) in Thelaseen (-22, 24).

    Required Level: 28

Step 3: Travel to Thanion (on an island (50000, -70800, 3100) in Seas of Mist (-23, 23).

    Required Level: 28

Tip: Island is just off the southern coast of the Ruins of Vol Tuniel. Complete a quest for Nathefel (see Quest #25 below)

    NPC: Nathefel

Quest #24: Reduced to Blood and Howls (kill 18 Bloodhowler Sentinals on the island or on the shore)

    Required Level: 28

Faction: Blood Howler Clan (-2) Dahknarg, Halgarad, Celestine Ward (+2)

    Part 7: ~1 hour, 2 Quests, 0 kills

Location: Southeast corner of Mekelia chunk (50600, 86400, 44000) in Mekelia (-11, -9).

To Get Here: Recall to your bind point (preferably near a tier 1 rift stone). Take the rift to Skrilean Point, run south to Strand of the Ancients, then take the pass through the mountains in the southern part of the chunk.

    NPC: Ardalan Awji

Quest #27: Question and Answer (Purchase arcane pliers from Shaheen's Traveling Mercantile)

    Required Level: 29

    Time: 40 minutes (round-trip travel)

Tip: Pick up the quest Strange Spirits from Ryalsep Ensopasat in the same camp as Ardalan.

You will be traveling right by the Shrine of the Elders on your way to Shaheen, so you may as well pick up some extra experience. The Shaheens are located one chunk south (-88700, 71000, 14900) in Zossyr Hakel (-11, -10).

There are two Shaheen merchants. Azeeta Shaheen has the arcane pliers on the third page of goods for 10 gold. Purchase them and return to Ardalan in Mekelia.

Quest #28: Finding Aynien (use the teleporter to find the last stray unicorn)

    Required Level: 30

Time: 20 minutes (travel, see tips in Part 8 below)

Note: Right-clicking the teleporter adds a waypoint to your map and displays the message: 'The device points you to Aynien in the waters of northern Thestra'

To Get Here: Recall to your bind point (preferably near a tier 1 rift stone). Take the rift to Silverlake. A boat, rented flying mount, or levitate is strongly recommended. It took me 18 minutes running across the water with levitate. One chunk north and 4 chunks west of The Deebs. If you are at a level that can use the Plains of Anguish rift stone, it will be faster to start from there. Aynien is on the west peninsula of the northernmost of the four islands in the chunk. The island, and water around it, is full of mobs.

Tip: Bind at Silverlake, you will be returning here when you finish with Aynien.

    NPC: Aynien

Quest #29: Seadredge Doldrums (kill 15 Seadredges and 25 Kelpwalkers)

    Required Level: 30

    Mob Level: 30-31 3-dot

    Time: 45 minutes

Tip: The mobs roam, and adds are common, so be careful.

Quest #30: Unicorns Reunited (Use the teleportation device on Aynien, and return to Myrthion)

    Required Level: 30

    Time: 5 minutes (travel)

Tip: Recall back to Silverlake, run south to Unicorn Rock

Note: Apparently each member of a group must use the teleportation device on Aynuen separately. Re-spawn time is 4-5 minutes.

    NPC: Myrthion

Quest #31: Unicorns Reunited (continued) (select reward)

    Required Level: 30

    Time: 1 minute

Reward: Unicorn (choice of saddle colors)

    TOTALS:

    Quests: 31

    Mobs Killed: ~650

    Time: ~24 hours

My most cherished MMO item ever was a pre-pub 9 Jedi in SWG.  I was one of the very first to unlock a Jedi and let me tell you it was the hardest grind I ever did in any game.  Not only the grind to unlock but the grind after you unlocked.... lol.  Lets just say I never wanna see a Rancor or a Nightsister again.

My Laser Rifle in SWG (Pre-CU). Was best DPS (rifle) on server for a month or so. For the life of me I can't remember the weaponsmith who made it for me. Any ideas who it mgiht be? I feel like ill recognised the name of the guy because he put his name in my rifles name.

Server: Eclipse, My name: Zekid Sra'Tvo

If you continue to make sweeping statements like you know what everyone everywhere thinks about a certain topic then I am going to shout at you.
It easy to type 'I think this is the worst game ever'
Rather than the 'This is the worst game ever'

    Same ^^

Escorting the guy part was rock hard. Our group kept wiping after meeting up with hordes of nasty Rancors that sometimes just spawned on top of you.

The Rancors were huge and tough back then and the planet was very dark so you could barely see where you were going.

I seem to remember this taking 2 or 3 evenings to complete, an epic mission and a testament to those who played SWG.

Where else could you find a group who would help you, when the only person to gain anything was yourself?

Alas, I never got to use the crystal because NGE came along and I couldn't complete my Jedi in time. I didn't bother with Jedi after that.

well we had the legendary Krayt dragon pistal on valcyn in SWG, it would take all but 1 of your blue bar so our rifleman could i hit you. it was soo badass that the forums blew up because they thought we were exploiting until a gm said the wep was real, it had over 1 million uses, and one day when the pistal was handed off to a guildy a player made a name with gm in the frotn and had our player give it up, when he finally got it back it was durability 0/1 and was 1/1 before, so he had it put on the wall of our cantina until they game becamse no longer.

WoW has to win on principle since, like 8 years later, I'm still playing...

But, I will always have a soft spot for Ultima Online. It got me into the genre and the notion of playing a game in a world with countless other people almost had a magical feeling to it. Never was more addicted to anything in my life while it lasted.

My House from UO and all the rares and legal bugged items it held inside. So many unique items I couldn't pick one so I picked my house because it had everything inside lol!

Mine easily is the Jagged Blade of War and the lightsabres it could split into. Blade of Tactics and Blade of Strategy. Not only did it look badass and was one of the hardest epics to get (Spent months with my tracking bot in Emerald Jungle to catch Servillious up for the green scale, 12 hour PoA raid for the Spiroc blade and many Plane of Hate raids for the Maestro hand...plus getting in on a Royals raid in Chardok...and that was only about 1/5 of it at most) but it was my first aggro procing weapon.

Very close to my 2nd weapon would be the Blade of Carnage off of Avatar of War. For EQ vets, probably nothing more needs to be said about that one. Once they introduced shared bank spaces I put the BoC in it and let my level 40 something Bard twink use it in Dreadlands. Everyone thought it was a Lammy but were confused when I took aggro constantly and they couldn't get the mobs off me. :)

Played: EQ1 (10 Years), Guild Wars, Rift, TERA
Tried: EQ2, Vanguard, Lord of the Rings Online, Dungeons and Dragons Online, Runes of Magic and countless others...
    Currently Playing: GW2

My speed boots in EQ1.   Considering how much people would pay for SoW that gave something like a 30% speed boost, having permanent boots that increased speed was wonderful.

It would be a toss up between my Jboots, my manastone or my SMR.
