City of Steam is getting ready to leave its alpha phase of development into beta testing. We caught up with Mechanist Games' Dave and asked what the team has been up to and what the future holds for CoS. See what he's got to say and then leave us your thoughts in the comments.

MMORPG.com:  So let's talk about how things are going!  What has the team been up to since we last toured the game?

Dave:  Quite a bit! After fixing the bugs that were found during Alpha testing, we started polishing up the game and adding in things like a Company (guild) system, Factions, challenge dungeons, more quest flavour, better collision and pathfinding… and a few more things we’re chewing on.

I liked the game and the story too of the company too. On the brink of bankruptcy they are saved by a Chinese company and move there. A lot of scarifices made by these guys and they have done nice work. I wish them the best of luck going forward.

I had complained about their control setup, and how it made the game nearly unplayable for me.  Glad to hear that they are actually listening.  I liked their world building, they definitely had some unhinged creativity (in a good way).

If you are holding out for the perfect game, the only game you play will be the waiting one.
