    They do both.

OP: The system isn't working as intended. ANET has admitted that. They are working to fix it. It has some bugs, and its too harsh in some cases. Be patient

Which means what, exactly? You can go an hour now before Dr sets in vs a half hour before? They need to do away with the DR crap or at least be honest about when it sets in.

Only way to know is to test it yourself... That, or wait for a day before people start talking about it again...

But this is life - and it is also war.

War against bots, spammers, hackers, cheaters...

The innocent always suffer in war.

If YOU can't farm the same dungeon or DE chain over and over legitimately, but at the same time if an automated BOT or gold farmer working with compromised accounts is stopped because of it - I'm all for it.

That whole "those who give up freedom for security deserve neither" or whatever quote is unrealistic, niave bullshit.

Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety. - Benjamin Franklin

It's a good quote, and intact and in context it makes perfect sense. However sliced apart then applied to a game, yeah, it's a load of crap.

It is an awesome quote which unfourtunately does not show its true meaning when a free an open system becomes totalitarian and counterproductive to what it claimed to do. E.g. to implement stringent security to protect your freedom just to have it destroying freedom more than whatever perceived threat it was protecting from.

For me this anti farming and DR mechanics is just a simple and bad solution for a complex problem. If they had an AI that was not so predictable and easy to beat, you would not have so many bots. But creating a great AI is expensive...

They used in GW1 and people did complain at first but learned to  work within the system and the game went on.

The AI is not predictable as in Rift and other games. Also, the spawns seem really random (notice I said seems).  The trick is, there are certain places spawns don't happen and that is what botting uses.

I've seen this a few times however I have farmed feathers and hero armor items in GW1 for hours and hours and never experienced it.

They said in the Massively article that they are working out a few kinks to allow players to enjoy legit farming.  Remember back when they first implemented anti-farming in GW1?  There were some irritating behaviors with it.  They're pretty good about working those out and do patch fairly frequently.

It would be nice if we could sort out the facts from fiction before arguing over it.

But that would be logical and not involve fallacies thrown out by both parties to gain the upper hand.

Which means what, exactly? You can go an hour now before Dr sets in vs a half hour before? They need to do away with the DR is a great way to stop people from mindlessly farming the same area and a good way to keep the economy going by preventing saturation and also helps to thwart gold sellers. DR crap or at least be honest about when it sets in.
DR isn't suppose to hit players if they change areas. If it does, its bugged. ANET is working on it. Deal with it for now.

Oz has spoken. I feel so reassured now. Yet Oz hasn't given any specifics as to how his anti-player mechanic is supposed to work.

    You deal with it.

We’ve relaxed our anti-exploiting system for loot and events

    From todays patch notes

Spent some of yesterday running around Orr doing events, DR didn't kick in, did roughly five events in a row, surprised as previously DR seemed to kick in on mob drops for me quite early, think it may not have been working as intended for me. Publishing exactly how it works would be doing the botters a favour so guess work is our only option.
