I miss the MMORPG genre. Will a developer ever make one again?

I think lots of social games have introduced a system similar to slavery, but few MMORPGs have ever introduced such system. As I’ve known, the only MMORPG that has introduced a slavery system is Tamer Saga. The slavery system in the game enables people to enslave each other, which then leads to some related player interaction options such as forcing the slaves to work, fawning on the master, revolting against the master to regain freedom, rescuing enslaved friends, etc. I think the system boosts player interaction and surely adds some fun.
Roma Victor (long since extinct mmo) has a slave system.
As I recall basically if you start as Roman you started off as a slave, and have to earn your way to being a freeman.
Slave trading is(was) a very lucrative business so I can see it added into an MMORPG as some sort of pseudo crafting profession, would be pretty cool.
I'd like to have me a couple dozen gnome slaves carry me around on a giant throne
In Second Life, there are about 300 Sims that are based on John Norman's Gor novels, fantasy novels which are based on ancient societies where slavery was practiced, particularly ancient Rome, medieval Europe, the Vikings and the Middle East. It's very much an adult game, and the users are the ones who have made up the rules, but slavery is definitely an important part of the game. Most Gorean players are female, BTW ... think 50 Shades of Gray fans. It's real different. I'm not sure that's what you're aiming for, judging from the context of your question, but there it is.
I'll be glad to provide more info on how the system works if you think the answer is likely to be germane to your question.
