Do the bartle test
http://www.gamerdna.com/rails/quizzes/take/bartle-test-of-gamer-psychology
And find out what you are.
Personally i think the game suits anything thats high on Exploration or killing for a very very long time, THe sociallising part totally depends on your server/guild, i am very happy with mine. But i foresee that many of the archeivers will sooner then later leave the game behind only to return at the next Expansionpack.
I am an ESKA 80% 53% 53% 13% and thats why i adore this game, it fits my playing style really really well.
Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)

That trivia makes me look more balanced that I probably am. I'm also entirely focused in GW2 in the activity I"m not supposed to be, ie PvP.
67% achiever, 60% explorer, 60% social, 13% killer.
What does that mean?
means your playing it wrong lol
K (60%) E (53%) A (47%) S (40%)
I guess some people like to PvP too.
S 73%, E 60%, K 53%, A 13%
I guess I am not an achiever:/
E-87% A-60% K-33% S-20%
Go figure!
Also: Some of the questions needed a "neither" answer for me.
I want a mmorpg where people have gone through misery, have gone through school stuff and actually have had sex even. -sagil
E-87% S-47% K-33% A-33% according to that strange test that goes way over 100%
But yeah, I love GW2 and the answer is "in the E"
Explorer 80%, socializer 73% Achiver 23% killer 20%...
But yes, the achivers are the ones hardest hit by GW2, while there are some epic hard to get items like legendary weapons there arent that many compared to many other MMOs.
I'm mainly explorer in every MMO, but I can't stand GW2, so this theory not working in my case.

Explorer
Your gamerDNA is:
EXPLORER
The Explorer motto:"No stone unturned!"
Description:
It's not so much the wandering around and poking about, but that euphoric eureka moment the Explorer strives for. The joys of discovery do not necessarily involve geography, real or virtual. They may derive from the mental road less traveled, the uncovering of esoteric or hidden knowledge and it's creative application. Explorers make great theory crafters. The most infinitesimal bit of newness can deliver the most delicious zing to an Explorer.
Secondary influencesE 73%, S 53%, K 40%, A 33%
Does this mean GW2 is the perfect match for my MMO needs..?
E- 73, A- 60, K- 47, S- 20
I guess I'm anti-social. Probably shouldn't be playing mmo's then...
REALITY CHECK
The bartle test isn't a valid test, i.e. it does not (necessarily) measure what it purports to be measuring.
The FIRST question on it is basically "When a new MMO opens up, do you rush to a new area eager to explore it and learn the story, or do you rush to a new area eager to acquire powerful gear?" The test thinks it is testing you to see if you are an explorer or an achiever, but it just as well is testing whether you consider the story in MMOs to be worth learning in the first place.
And yes, it is partly true that you might have a tendency to achievement over exploring just because you don't think the story is worth your attention. But it's also true that the story might just be plain crappy, as it is in many MMOs as evaluated by many players, so people answer "gear" over "explore" because they know/believe there is nothing worth exploring to begin with... not because they actually prefer to acquire gear over exploring worthwhile places/stories.
Did you find most of the hidden places in all maps already ? They are not marked at all.
E 60%
S 47%
A 20%
Like I've said on other threads this is not the game for people that like wow style days grinders. And likewise those sport of games aren't for me.
Explorer: 73 / 60 / 33 / 33
And I'd agree, the achievers are definitely the ones having the hardest time with this game. Many I talk to seem to be having difficulty grasping certain fundamentals of the game design. When they find out about legendaries, most can't help but to view them as 'necessary' and rage a little about how grindy it can be to obtain one.
Really, what it comes down to, though, is this game isn't centered around vertical progression. One of the mistakes (in my opinion of course) GW2 made, though, is that it masks this with a 1-80 lvling system. This was done in an attempt to make the game more palatteable, but what it really does is confuse the main focus of the game. Customization. Many people get this, but many people are still focused on the 1-80 lvling spree, and unlocking all the shiny items, etc. Furthermore, the game kinda lacks in the achievement department, tbh. It's got a decent start w/ the achievement tabs, but very little in the rewards. It has account points (which I'm assuming they plan on making useful at some point?), but almost no titles. Something like that can easily be added to the game (and should be) considering the amount of mindless achievements the game keeps track of. It'd be a decent start, at least.
87% Explorer, 60% Socializer, 40% Killer, 13% Achiever
Talk about under-achieving, haha.
Anyway, I already knew I was an Explorer first and foremost, which is the sole reason I didn't quit GW2 before reaching cap.
Good point. I like to be around other people and group for dungeons and such, i'm just not much of a 'talker' or 'bragger' so maybe those points brought the social score down...
The truth may be puzzling. It may take some work to grapple with. It may be counterintuitive. It may contradict deeply held prejudices. It may not be consonant with what we desperately want to be true. But our preferences do not determine what's true.
Carl Sagan-
well i disagree with your headline.
First the killer aspekt of this game- suits the one that like some balanced rules and a fair playground- not something that is nessacerry indicating a killer.
The achiver had plenty to do- those who wants powerprogression does haveever see the game lacking.
the eksplorer had such a good time agree- at least for an mmo- But eksploring is alot more than roaming around , its also making discoveries in other areas like skill setup, crafting and so on, where the sense of discovery is not that established
And socialiser is really a weird call in this game. As there really is no point in grouping, talking or interacting alot in this game. This leaves socialising weak unless you already have a network established.
The point is that everything is so handhold and catered for that normal conventions does not apply.
I like this handhold part alot- but in terms of the bartle test- i think what we see is it limits, when trying to put GW2 on its formular.
Just to illustrate my point i will argue that GW2 is a ASKE game. For the sake of it
Achiving is made such a huge thing, that things like exploring the map is a achiver goal. There really is no surprising random drops that change something for your build, nearly all items is achived through a systematic approach generating the currency needed for them. Thats tottally achiver stuff. First and foremost GW2 is an Achiver game
Some of the most positive reviews have been about GW2 making everyone play together - helping each other- ressing each other, without waisting time to form a group. With all the things done to secure that people plays together and enjoy it, socialising could be argued to have the ssecond place in GW2.
Killing have been given its set place in the mist away from the mainland and PvE that simply puts it low among the AEKS terms.
And finally the handholdness in all areas where there is eksploring that had made a subpart of achiving simply put eksploring last-
(ok the last part about eksploring is stretchin it to much!)
K 73%, E 60%, S 60%, A 7%
Explains why I like games like GW2 and SWG and not follow the carrot treadmill games.
I'm more of a pvp'er and socializer, pve (and leveling) is last on my list.
I'm E (80%), A (47%), S (40%), K (33%)
I'm guessing each category had its own 0-100% scale. Out of the 30 questions, say, 15 of them placed an explorer's answer against an answer that represented one of the other 3 categories (30 questions with 2 options each = 60 answers / 4 categories = 15 uses of each category.) If you choose the explorer's option all 15 times, you would have gotten 100% explorer at the expense of those other options.
Looking at your breakdown, it looks like you chose 5/15 achiever answers, 5/15 killer answers, 7/15 socializer answers and 13/15 explorer answers.
