How is the lag?

in Final Fantasy XIV
Greetings everyone. I gacve this game a shot when it was released but it was very laggy. It took me  to long to get anything accomplished because the lag was so bad. It looked like a decent game though. Has the lag situation improved since launch days?

    They've said that they recongnize that there is bad server lag going on, and hinted on that they are not focussing on fixing it because they way the servers are set up, it almost impossible to fix, and that they have been focussing instead on designing ARR servers so that they can load balance much easier.
