Originally posted by eaos I am now really glad I haven't tried GW2, I got my planet side 2 fix, and now its back to play Darkfall online until Unholy Wars comes out. It seems like GW2 tried really hard to get rid of the "uniqueness" and go for more of a socialist view with the everyone being equal thing. It just doesnt seem worth suffering through to enjoy the pretty pixels or investing in the 40-50 dollars to buy it. I didnt even make it to the end of the first GW. I liked the wow dungeon system and battlegrounds, I was never a fan of the arena because of the extremes people went to. My intrest in wow is about 10% even with their new expansion on the horizon. I hate getting my carrot on the stick only to find that by the time I get it there is a new and better carrot to quest for. The treadmill mindset and having all that content they created to be completely useless just doesnt make sense to me. I like dynamic content, which someone said the dungeons have, but again you have to suffer through that mess of the dungeon to even experience it. November 20 can't come soon enough!
Why? Because you can't make up your own mind about a game and have to listen to other people? If you really want to make up your mind about a game - try it yourself. I do - I don't depend on others when I can form my own opinion.
I love how people throw around words they have no idea what they mean - 'socialist'? REALLY? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Socialism
The game can't be socialist if A.Net owns the games, makes the rules, etc. If you are talking about when playing there are common goals, then yes - but EVERY MMO has them. Are they all socialist then?

One has to wonder if he asks for a refund on every game once he figures he has nothing else to do. I call people like that damn thieves.

Kind of like going out, eating a meal, enjoying it, only to complain the next day and ask for a refund because you don't think it was worth it in the end.
He just has an agenda, people like that will write whatever kind of bs to protect their game. Just troll wow tonight when launch doesn't go smoothly

This, and the fact that people have logged hundreds of hours each already in a $60 game. Try stretching out the longevity of a linear single player game of the same price range like Batman: Arkahm Asylum. You can't. There are hundreds of hours of gameplay in GW2 though, however people are acting like they got robbed. They'd only be robbing you if they made you pay a sub for the same few hundred hours of content, but we've seen how that's working out for Tera and TSW so far. Personally, I think every game should start out B2P and if the quality and amount of content warrants it, they can have my $15 a month. The only game that manages to really make a dent with this payment plan is WoW, but no company nor the players ever learn.
It basically comes down to this, gotten to level 80 in 3 weeks grinded some legendary pieces and did tons of wvw.
Would i want to grind some mreo just for legendary weapon past 30 days??? My answer? No, refund came out mop coming out 9/25. the timing couldnt have been better for me to ask for refund. Id rather grind gears for progression. What would i be doing when i do get my legendary weapon in gw2??? No idea. gw2 is not the game for me end game.

You're really trying too hard man, fresh account name and all

You played a game for a month and got your money back just because you have different expectations for MMOs than games that might have lasted you 20 hours. You're still a thief.
I like the part in yellow. Pretty much the same type of "end game" every themepark ever made has.
My theme song.
so you played the game to level 80 which is dozens of hours and now you want a refund? haha you're a funny man. we all know you are a big wow fanboy so play wow if thats what you prefer. What do you do when you get your leet end game gear in wow?
Originally posted by Cothor WvW seems pointless really. The bonuses are not significant enough to care about. spvp is pointless as the gear cannot be worn outside Dungeons are pointless other than farming shards for crafting It would seem there is no way to elevate yourself beyond others, there is no form of name recognition, no way to be known as the richest, best, etc. Just pointless content. The graphics and questing system are very good, but once you hit 80 the game just comes to a halt. Perhaps I am missing something here?
People cannot understand that GW2 can't be a "main" mmo... its just a casual polished mmo for playing 1-2 hours per day...

for you maybe.
I think another issue with most gamers, including myself is this: We like to simplify things. For example "at endgame after you grind to get your [insert cool name] set all that's left is to do X, Y, and Z." Though we say this totally disregarding the inumerable things left to do in the game; I.e. crafting, exploring, events, dungeons, pvp, battlegrounds, housing, etc. Ofcourse the features i just mentioned aren't ones specific to GW2, but features in general. But people like to simplifiy things to have a small list of things to do; It narrows it down.
The problem with this is that it makes it far too easy to discredit a game that may or may not have a ton of content simply because we only see the X, Y, and Z and totally forget about the A-W. GW2 has a lot to do. More than any MMO has had at release. More than some have had after their first content patch. How it feels to you or how you play it is totally up to you and no one can tell you what is fun to you. But to answer this thread, as it has been answered an incalculable amount of times, the point is to have fun. If you're not having fun then the game isn't for you. I played WoW I did not have fun, it wasn't for me. I played Rift, I had fun for a bit but ultimately it wasn't for me.
Go out, adventure, explore, discover, and most of all...have fun - or die trying :P
You didn't look at what the game had to offer before purchasing? My uncle sells used cars, I would like you to meet him, he has a deal for you. *cough
Death is nothing to us, since when we are, Death has not come, and when death has come, we are not.
It's my main been playing 2-3 hours a day during the week and 6+ hours a day on weekends.. don't have anymore time that that to game. Think it's more people don't understand GW2 can be a main but still is a themepark but if any other themepark can be somebodies main game so can GW2

Don't video games have a no refund policy?
Especially after 3-4 weeks!!
It'd be absolutely retarded business sense to give full refunds for a video game after someone's been playing for 3-4 weeks and a hundred (or hundreds) of hours.
Like others have said, it's like asking for a refund of your meal after you lick the plate clean.
WTF is wrong with people?

Entitlement complex and no sense of personal buyer's responsibility.
I used to have fun playing Goldeneye on the N64 until I realised that I wasnt gearing up. Oh wait....
Seriously, we get it guys, GW2 doesnt have gear progression. This was well known. If you need that to feel good about yourself or keep you motivated, move on. Pretty much every single other game in the genre has that, we dont need another one.
This game is for people who want skill based PvP and to have fun without the eternal gear treadmill.

Hey now if arena net allows it why not? I would not be asking for refund if arenet does not allow full refund before 30 days is over. Wouldnt it be arenet 's fault for allowing wow players to get refund from digital purchases? it was fun 1-80. But thats your opinion of course. Nadi's link post about fullr efund got to me and im taking advantage of it because arena net allows it not my choice. Plus i dont see myself play past 30 days with a level 80 toon, i dont care about my gw2 account being disabled i lose nothing in return.
Originally posted by sammyeli Lol with the exception of a few people, all the players that were on the forums here that loved GW2 do not even post anymore, why? because obviously they are playing. The ones that remain are solo minded are not with a better guild for WvW or PvE and are getting facerolled in sPvP and complaining about gear progression, so they can stand above others that do not have much time to play. Awesome, I will be enjoying this thread at work today. /popcorn P.S - sPvP tournaments.
This is all you need to know
The truth may be puzzling. It may take some work to grapple with. It may be counterintuitive. It may contradict deeply held prejudices. It may not be consonant with what we desperately want to be true. But our preferences do not determine what's true.
Originally posted by KungFuPanda2012 Originally posted by GeezerGamer Originally posted by BadSpock Originally posted by GeezerGamer Originally posted by BadSpock Point of the game is to have fun. Fun is subjective - if you are having fun, you play - if you are not, play something else! This is why some people love sandbox MMOs, some love WoW-type end-game MMOs, some like open world PvP, some like instanced battleground/Arena type PvP.... I mean... call me Captain Obvious here - but you people are saying "I don't like something so what's the point of it??" The point is - if you don't like it - move on. I'd tell you the EXACT same thing no matter what game or activity it is. Wasting everyone's time trying to get other people to explain "it" to you, when "it" is different for each person. Move on - thanks for stopping by, don't let the door hit you on the way out - and good luck in finding something you enjoy long term!
Translation: I don't like your opinion so you aren't welcome here.
Sorry Spock, I usually find your posts well thought out and on the money, even if I don't agree. But this one is not the case.
We all paid for the game. We all played it but only some of us enjoy it, That in no way has anything to do with our right to come here and discuss our experiences good or bad.
When we speak bullshit we get called out on it, When we get called out on something that isn't bullshit, we defend our positions. When we find something we agree with, we quote it and second the thought. When we see somthing we don't agree with we question it. Tha'ts what we do here.
Well out of context it does sound dickish, but with the rest of the post - what else is there to say?
Does GW2 need more of a sense of progression? I don't know - some would say yes while some would say no - and most who would say yes are (like the OP) asking to be "better" than other people which is not really what GW1 or 2 is about so...
In context, how am I wrong? It is stupid to say "I don't agree with you so you are wrong" but it is ALSO stupid to say "I hate apples, I like oranges, and I bought an apple, and now I want to complain about this apple because it's not an orange."
Asking for the game to change to meet your expectations is normal, niave, but normal. Happens all the time on these forums.
"I don't like X and want it changed to Y."
That is like, forum 101.
But I thought it was kind of well understood as a "core" system of GW2 that it wasn't going to be a certain way.
And besides, if the OP has full exotic gear (max stats) how is that any different than maxing out your raid/dungeon/pvp gear in a month in any other MMORPG (or MMO expansion) and then complaining until the next "tier" comes out and you can do it all over again?
This is not a problem unique to GW2 - all MMOs have an end to progression - and the good ones still give you a lot to do after you've "maxed out" and GW2 is readily included in that list.
Not the games fault the OP maxed out so fast, it's a fault with the entire genre.
Now, see this is more like you.
I got nuthin.
