POLL-How long before Blizzard copies GW2 questing design?

DeathengerDeathenger Member UncommonPosts: 880

Also, taking bets that Titan will surely be without quest hubs now thanks to GW2.

Blizzard will teach the industry what *real* innovation means. With Titan I´m pretty sure they come up with more than yellow circles and a "dynamic" quest log.

No need to copy anything from GW2 (please, no cow feeding Blizzard.. please).

Further *real* innovation, look at World of Darkness and TSW

Oh, you meant the hearts, where you get all the quests... I see what you did there.

That Guild Wars 2 login screen knocked up my wife. Must be the second coming!

If the are going to do it, they won't do anymore with WoW, I think.

    Maybe with their upcoming MMO.

WoW is already way past the end of it's technical lifespan, technologically speaking.

I can't see removing quest hubs being too hard to implement, just remove quests givers and make it so the you automatically get the quests whenever you're close to whatever bandits you need to kill, plants you need to water, or NPCs you need to escort.

    TADA! Dynamics events.

Sure.  Bare in mind this is coming from someone who only got to around level 13 in the beta.

The heart quests were the most boring repetitve MMO quests just with a bar instead of numbers.

I didn't like the DEs because you're forced to play at a certain tempo to complete them, they were just escort, kill, bleh; they were just big zergs that I really didnt enjoy.

Now "quest hubs" are the new thing to hate? LOL.

What is bad about freakin´ quest hubs?

Shouldn´t be bad questing the problem in 2012?

I´d rather have interesting quests instead, I don´t care how I get cookie cutter kill/collect X zerg quests into my log, this is complete and utter unnecessary fluff.

I don't think it is about hard to implement or not. Don't think they need to or will change their game in a totally different and unnecessary direction just to accomodate newer playerbase on an already old game.

They are better off making as much money as they can on WoW before they decided to wrap it up instead of putting an "SWG NGE" on WoW.

Anything new or innovative they plan to do will likely to be on the new MMO they are developing.

You're right, because guild wars 2 doesnt have quest hubs, it just has a bunch of places where you do quests and wait for dynamic events, which is totally different AND MOTHERFUCKING AMAZING!

but OT, i think that titan would proberbly go with a mix, some traditional quests and some "heart"/dynamic quests or something along those lines. I highly doubt they're gonna change how Wow does it this far down the line.

Actually you dont have to go to the hearts at all, or even speak to any npc's to get a quest OR to complete one. But you knew that already didnt ya..

Personally, the thing I hated the most about WoW was questing... Well 80% of it. Now all I have to do is explore and I run into things going on.

Now there is no running back and fourth for turning stuff in and getting another quest. I can just keep on keeping on!

Count me as someone who actually thinks WoW's quests by and large are more fun then the GW2 DE's and hearts.  Sure back in vanilla WoW it was all collect this and kill that quests, but they've evolved quite a bit since then to where there are many pretty cool and unique quests in WoW.  Many more than what I've seen so far in GW2.

This. Looks like it is time to take a couple of months off from this website. It is worse than politics here now, you're either 100% behind GW2 and out to strample on those who don't like it; or you're 0% behind GW2 and seek out to spoil the fun for those who do like it.

My final statement on this forum until it been long enough for me to forget how bad it actually is - GW2 is not for everyone, deal with it. Some people love GW2, deal with it.

You mean "Dynamic Events" That aren't really Dynamic. No thanks. Questing itself needs to go bye bye. Give me a design similar to FFXI where group play is the driving force of the game. Quests in FFXI were significant. Reputation Increases, Missions, Story points, Expansion Story etc. Not "go kill 10 wolfs so I can cook some food for my kids."

Or "Save me from these bandit Raiders", only to have the event cycled through 10 minutes later

Tired of seeing people running from hub to hub with no care in the world for the people playing around them. Its an MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online  Role Playing Game). Not an Massively Online Singleplayer Untill Endgame Game (MOSUEG).

"In the immediate future, we have this one, and then we’ve got another one that is actually going to be – so we’re going to have, what we want to do, is in January, what we’re targeting to do, this may or may not happen, so you can’t hold me to it. But what we’re targeting to do, is have a fun anniversary to the Ilum shenanigans that happened. An alien race might invade, and they might crash into Ilum and there might be some new activities that happen on the planet." ~Gabe Amatangelo

I love GW2, and anyone who differs from me can go and..... Just joking, relax, I actually agree, these threads are getting worse and worse. I love the game, but c'mon, too far is too far.

How long before MoP sales are picking little peices of GW2 sales out of its gigantic teeth? Oh yeah, 14 more days.

I'm going to assume that Titan is very different from WOW in terms of how people play.  Hopefully they improve on GW2, assuming Titan is even quest based.
  • smh_alotsmh_alot Member Posts: 976
One does not simply walk into changing questing mechanics and eliminating quest hubs -_-

As for Titan, I'm almost starting to think that it's a pipe dream, as in the Titan dev team got a big, huge bag of money for which a hell of a lotsa weed could be bought.

Never because a lot of people are actually complaining about not having quest hubs. So billzard will keep them to keep that market share. Personally I hate quest hubs that send you to next one ect ect. Its boring.

I saw someone mention TSW as innovative... not really. Adding in Mist style puzzles and making your game more like a single player RPG doesn't innovate.

Sorry, but WoW and GW1 were both similarilly successful when released. If anything, the only thing WoW can do is go down because they've already completely expanded their market share. If anything, GW2 is even more casual friendly than WoW is now simply due to the fact that it is F2P. Don't expect WoW to take away anyone from GW2 who isn't playing the game as a filler (which is what most people do between WoW expacs).

It's all very subjective, I think. To you, TSW isn't really innovative, to others GW2 isn't really innovative, again others think both have innovative elements (me) and other others think both aren't really innovative. It's all relative, the man Einstein alrdy said it.

I completely agree, chaotic mess questing is a terrible design. And yes thats how I see it.
