A horrible voice over, something GW2 has too much of.
  • AnthurAnthur Member UncommonPosts: 961

Everyone who is already interested in MMOs knows about GW2 for a long time. Some like it, Some not, whatever, no new customers to find for GW2 there.

So what target audience might this trailer have ? Hmmm ? Definately not the mmo nerds. They want to get the people with real lives who have no clue about GW2. Thats why you see real people most of the time and how they are drawn into GW2.

Imo they did a good job.

I enjoyed the Matrix movies (yes, all of them), and loved V for Vendetta, and I enjoy Guild Wars 2.  But this trailer is ridiculous.

It's like the marketing people went, "Okay, we have sex appeal (girl with come hither look), we have appeal to be part of the in crowd (the 'cool' kids roaming around), what else can we throw in?  Oh, I know, how about we tap into that discontent and rebelliousness thing?"

Yeah, right.  As someone already said, you're going to sit and play a game.

Real world changing there.  Real rebellious.

    Stupid marketing.

That was shockingly awful.  I don't care who their target audience is, what symbolism they thought made it clever.  I can't see it attracting much of anyone.

    When I want a single-player story, I'll play a single-player game. When I play an MMO, I want a massively multiplayer world.

Love GW2! That trailer - not so much. LOL. If I want my friends to play that is the last thing I would show them to convince them to give it a try.

I really cant see it bringing new players in to gaming and it obviously doesn't appeal to the gaming community, feedback has been overwhelmingly negative so far. Too much pretense, trying to get in with rebelliousness of youth in an obvious and clich

Talk about a complete waste of time, money and pixels.  Nothing really about the game. More self-indulgent tripe.

The word "Dethroned" implies that something else has taken its place...which is not true at all. So like the content or not WOW is still the king of MMOs and will be for some time looking ahead the next few years.

    Bingo!

Trailer was meh... But this is the first MMO i've actually ever wanted to play! I've tried WoW, Rift, and many others, couldn't get into them :/

I can't believe people take time to write about how a commercial sucked. I can't believe I wrote this either.

I miss the artistic wipes from the last trailers ... and gameplay footage. Well I already bought the game so the trailer is not meant for me.

    i like it ,

The way i see it is when people will see that on tv they will be like  hmm what is  that? and will probably watch it to the end because its make you  want to know wth is this all about ,

i just showed this to my brother without saying anything and he was like cool i was not expeting to see this kind of trailer for a game. he watched it to the end  and he liked it, btw he dont play gw2 but he watched its full.

even if people will say ahh its a trailer for game/arenanet/ncsoft people will watch it completly just to know ,

its a good  publicity/advertising, so its good for them in my opinion,

It basically says; "real world gone to shit so instead of doing something about it escape to our virtual one and hide there". And to add insult to injury they are talking about opening our eyes, rising up, reclaiming what is ours. Yeah, good luck with that because playing an mmo is doing exactly the oppoesite of that.

Really bad trailer. Besides it made me wanna play TSW.

This was a bad trailer.  It just doesn't translate well, using real world environments, such as a girl spray painting.  Really?  Seriously?  That was just bad.

Love the game, but not the trailer =.=

Yeah, i dont buy that the trailer was intended for us older MMO'ers.  Cus if it was their marketing department failed hard.

GW2 is designed for the newer generation who wants instant gratification and easy mode gaming.  Most of us older gamers realize that although we dont have the time to invest we'd still rather have something to work towards as more long term goals.

I thought tiered-gear *was* the easy mode.  No real skill, just put in the hours to get the best stuff to outlevel/outgear all opposition.

Ok. I understand the whole let the game speak for itself thing but they REALLY shouldn't release trailers like this. I hope to god I don't see this on TV. Otherwise I'm going to have to hide the fact that I play this game opposed to how I've been showing off every boss fight to my roommates. This is embarassing.

The way I see it, when people see this on TV they will be thinking "man, I wish I could Fast Forward through this crap"

Those who have a DVR would be slamming the 'skip' button thinking "thank God I recorded this show! I can skip through this crap!"

There are 3 types of people in the world.
1.) Those who make things happen
2.) Those who watch things happen
3.) And those who wonder "What the %#*& just happened?!"
