I honestly didn't think I would like it as much as I'm liking it.

The game is like, 2 weeks old.

Overall so far has exceeded my very high expectations... Minor annoyances but overall more than lived up and exceeded what I was expecting

Game is what I expected for the most part.

A bit disappointed with the dungeons but on the other hand I'm enjoying WvW a lot more than I thought I would. So pretty much evens out.

I'm still playing it every night since day 1 of early access, which is a fairly good indicator to me that its holding my interest.

With SWTOR, after the first week and a half I started to lose interest and forgot to log in after almost 3 weeks.

My biggest problem with GW2 is that there are so many fun characters to play I have run out of slots :(

Since leaving WOW in late 2007 I've been dissappointed with every release untill GW2 .....Swtor lasted about 2 months ...Tera lasted 2 beta's and TSW was good for about 2 weeks ...if it wasn't for GW2 I'd have no mmo to play

DE's disappointed me. Especially some of the big badass looking ones from the trailers. The Shatterer has to be the most underwhelming boss for how awesome he looks.

sPvP is terrible shape right now in my opinion.

So far the only redeeming feature is WvW, which is hampered by queue times.

Sighs.. i forgot to add the "dont' have the game/view results" option.

I'm waiting out the first month before I jump in.  Right now, its very difficult to get a true read of how things are going.  One one side, you have the rabid fanbois who will  say that it is beyond their expectations each and every time, and on the other you have the haters who are just passing through to simply check it out for a month (or less).  I figure after the launch craze has calmed down and people mellow into the game, sometime in October you'll get a more accurate poll.

Don't worry, on these boards, they'll all pick the negative option anyway :).

It has far exceeded my expectations.

    Top complaints:

    -Games is too easy.

-No point once you hit 80 other than repeating the same tired dungeons, or zone events that get boring to repeat over and over.

-WvWvW is a massive zergfest, and player skill plays no part in victories.

-Crafting is worthless when dropped is infinitely easier & better to obtain.

-Can't make a profit on the market by crafting when you're in competition with EVERY single server (yea, the auction house is GAME WIDE).

-Replayability is extremely low as after the first two toons you've seen it all and tired of it already.

-Equipment doesn't change appearance until 30s, and then again in the 60s, then finally at the 80s unless you spam horribly easy dungeons for dungeon karma. Now, granted our guild is used to actually difficult games like FF11, Everquest, Lineage II, DAOC, EQ2 raids. So we're used to being challenged.

I think at the end of the day if you're not coming from WoW GW2 might just be too easy for you :(.

However, it was certainly worth the $60, but would have failed worse than SWTOR had it been sub-fee based.

I like the fact that I have done DE and wvw succesfully all the way up to 80. Working on my second toon now.

This MMO by far has to be the best soloable MMO I've played in a long while...and that's saying something. I never joined a party (well...if you consider the wvw party I guess...) all the way up to and including level 80.

It's very refresing to solo all the way up and not have to rely on your buddy to your left or right and hope they do their job adequately.

    8/10 in my book.

-1 for no dungeon finder setup (I do realize the dungeons probably got the best gear....)

    -1 for spvp.

It's pretty much what I expected, which is sort of normal when you played all the betas.

In some ways it even outdoes my expectations, most notably when it comes to exploration.

Feel free to use my referral link for SW:TOR if you want to test out the game. You'll get some special unlocks!

I don't think they do actually outside aesthetics. I do agree the game could use a better group finding system. I'm really tired of companies never having this in place from the beginning.

Well you know most of those new games are massive hype at first and then a massive failure , the only thing that keeps their reputation up is the fact they sold so many copies to people who had hopes and dreams for something good

Yeah, except the poll says otherwise...

I had below expecations even though fanatic players hyped it up beyond belief. I didn't buy much into the hype, but more so from my friends wanting me to play GW2 with them. I knew going into this game it was just another high fantasy themepark mmo, I think the only bonus players will keep playing is because it has no monthly fee to worry about.

On my front, the game is getting a little stale for me, but can be entertaining at times. GW2 just isn't really striking me on being different from the recent games like aion, rift, tera and even wow. I guess it depends on what you like to play and gw2 is newer than the rest now so it will be played more than others.

    I still can't focus/commit myself to a single toon.

Two 20 somethings one 30 something.

I haven't had the time to play as much as I'd like to, but I can't seem to pick one toon and stick with it!

    In answer to the OP:

Events (I'd rather not call them Dynamic) have lived up to my initial expectations: they read good on paper, but in play they get boring.  What I mean is once I've done a particular DE, I don't opt to do it again because they are not interesting enough to do twice.  I appreciate the fact that each wrapper is different, but at the core they are all the same archetype quests we have seen before (escort, defend, collecting, etc).

I'd actually prefer an option to turn off Events I've completed since seeing the same one reoccur time after time is cumbersome.

In the end, I think it's an extremely over-hyped simple mechanic that really doesn't do pqs as different to warrant its advertisement.

edit: May have read thev thread wrong. Thought you were asking about Dynamic Events.  As for the whole game, I had low expectations to begin with.   I am still enjoying myself, but not as much as I typically enjoy most MMOs.  For me, it gets repetitive fast.

I'm still having fun, I'm still addicted to the game and I'm still amazed by it. So yeah, it was better than I expected before purchase in April.

Fanbois are still in controll here, ask this question again in a week.  Seems the game has peaked and is starting its slide.

Already seeing people who left for good the sandbox im playing for GW2, and that was a much quicker turnaround than it was with SWTOR.
