Will GW2 become the next big e-sport?

ZefireZefire Member Posts: 676

Personaly i think that the game has great potential becoming an e-sport considering that the game has jsut launched and there are a lot of things to be improved.

Heres a video talking about.

A few things that would facilitate it:

    • Good commentators
    • A nice professional website dedicated exclusively to Structured PvP videos, tournaments, statistics, interviews, etc. Should also be endorsed by Arenanet and linked to from their main page.
    • Replay mode.

A replay mode would be a very nice adition indeed :-D

    I've serious doubts.

First there is the lack of tools atm, but those can be implemented, so I'm not too concerned.

Second, in games like Sc2 or a MOBA, you can see all the decisions made by the players, their build orders, their equipment or skill choices.

In GW2 some of the choices will be done pre match, the traits, the equipment.

Addtionally the capture point mode also raises doubts about the ability of successful comebacks.

    Currently playing: GW2
Going cardboard starter kit: Ticket to ride, Pandemic, Carcassonne, Dominion, 7 Wonders

    A blatant & utter lie.

My Dhuum NecroBuild allowed me to solo 5 enemy players constantly in sPvP (Arena crap) while my team kept capping all the points with a crushing victory on average of 390point lead before we'd get switched due to ragequitters.

eSports is possible, but ArenaNet has to invest tools into the tournament system for it to happen.

I don't see any way shape or form that GW2 would ever become an esport.

It is not designed in a way that is good for that at all.

I personally think that gw 2 can become an e sport but they will have to remake some things in the pvp area introducing some guides-tutorials about the different mechanics.

As for the camera peopel watching there can be several ways to do that.

Firefall had introduced a shoutcast kit which looks interesting and i bet somethign similar can happen from arenanet's side.

pvp to me for now is fun to smash some.

I dont know we ll see in the future

E-sport, doubtful. But its fun enough to have some good tournaments as GW had.

Naw, the PvP balance between classes is way too much off. I don't think they'll be able to effectively balance it to ever be a viable esport. Tanky DPS is just too dominant.

Absolutely not. The only one i could possibly see becoming a Esport is Eve.

    Because i can.
