Really is a gem of a game for explorers. I must confess I have't bothered with any of the "secret areas". Still get around quite a bit though just getting all the poi, vistas, and skill points.
1. For god's sake mmo gamers, enough with the analogies. They're unnecessary and your comparisons are terrible, dissimilar, and illogical.
2. To posters feeling the need to state how f2p really isn't f2p: Players understand the concept. You aren't privy to some secret the rest are missing. You're embarrassing yourself.
3. Yes, Cpt. Obvious, we're not industry experts. Now run along and let the big people use the forums for their purpose.

I don't really think so. SWTOR had a really solid leveling experience, I could sit down and play that game 3-4 hours at a time or more. It's endgame just sucked, there wasn't anything to do.
GW2 burns you out even when you still have stuff to do.
Yep, lvl 15 also. I like the class i'm playing (elementalist) a lot BUT I don't feel the urge to log in every day. My typical play is
1. Log in
1.5 dumped into overflow
2. queue WvW (if I even get back into my home zone)
3. warp to last quest zone (i always log in the city because of banking) - again, dumped into oveflow
4. look for hearts i haven't done. wander around.
4.5 side tracked into dynamic events (flash mobs of other no name people who randomly run towards the circle on the map)
5. Kill dynamic event. flash mob scatters.
6. go back to empty heart. get bored. run out of bag space
7. back to bank. breakdown stuff. empty bags, sort bank.
8. log off.
the times I have gotten into WvW, it's been pretty mindless zergfest with some guy or 2 trying to yell directions.
overall, it hasn't been as great an experience as I was hoping since everything is just SO easy to do. I also HATE downlvling. Where is the sense of power. Why even have lvls if everything is going to be scalled anyways?
anyways, just my 2 cents of my experience.

Get a group of friends together and have some fun. Run around just exploring taking epic SS or unlocking all the zones while helping others out in those zones. You can even run around killing the rare spawns in the world to get a few chests. However, when playing a MMO you should be playing it to have fun.
What about the social achievments? Started working on those yet?
there's lot of ppl that hasnt reach 80 and is already bored.
and stop assuming that those ppl dont know how to "play" the game. everyone has their way of playing the game how they wanted.
i played the game, i enjoyed, but again, i am just not motivated to keep on going, only thing that driving me is to visit all vistas.
i spent 40hr and only lvl37, i loved DE, but they just felt identicals, it's either defend, attack, esocrt, picking up items, fighting mini boss.. for all 4 maps i been through. all like that.
i did heart quests, gosh..
crafting is fun though. i liked it.
jumping puzzle is great, especially the one in lions arch, i ejoyed that. brilliant ideas.
personal quest just like single player's quest, i actually enjoyed it, as human noble, knowing my parent died, and i actually visited that tomb before i did the personal story, that time i did wondered, who;s tombs are those. i guess i like traditional storying tell quest, some quest are actually scripted nicely. remember love and family quest in wow? and that little girl in eastern plagueland? i wish i can see those in gw2.
i loved the world design, city, it's beautiful, but that's only reason left for me to stay behind.. hoping everything will be better?
i havent has chance to do pvp yet.. cos que is just ridiculous, if wvw is any good as vanilla av in wow, i guess i would hand around longer.
First off before I get a little critical let me state that I'm in love with this game. I'm a casual player and am having a blast. I can't wait to get home from work every night and after the kids go to bed, get to play for a few hours. That said I haven't gotten over lvl 14 and have 3 characters. I've been exploring like crazy and love the openess feel of the world A-NET created.
My biggest gripe however is that I expected more with the DE's. A-Net made them sound like they would be more dynamic. So far they appear to be very scripted. It seems like no matter what area I'm in the same DE's are happening on the same rotating schedule that they were when I was there the first time. I hope this is just a starter area problem and it gets better later in the game. It's the only thing about this game I've been somewhat disappointed in.

Was the opposite for me. I'm enjoying the leveling experience and overall gameplay a hell of a lot more in GW2. Only thing I will say is that SWTOR had a couple fps that were pretty entertaining and were unique. Unfortunately it was only a couple of them that stood out like this. So far the dungeons in GW2 have been rather lackluster outside SE.
Well...that and the voiceacting is better in SWTOR. That's about it.

And thats why those types of players will never burnout, they take their time, take breaks, don't sit at the pc 24/7, have a job etc etc.
I'm one of those types and I have never burntout in a game, I've outgrown a games content and moved on but thats usually after at least a few years play and many expansions later.
However I respect all playstyles, so enjoy the game while you can, I'm sure a good break will bring back the urge to log back in again at some stage.
I hate to say it, but yes, I am already starting to get bored. My highest level character is only 21, although I do have a level 12, 11 and 8, so if I focused on just one he'd probably be around level 35-40. So, clearly rushing is not my problem.
I freely admit that part of my problem, and I suspect many people in this thread, is in fact just general MMO fatigue. Yes, GW2 is beautiful to look at and yes it does a decent job of hiding the "grind" of other MMOs, but in the end it is an MMO and it is a grind.
I'm sure some of the DE's do get more detailed and interesting as you level up, but the early zones are very repetitive and fairly boring. Largely they are just zerg-fests which aren't much fun. The amount of escort DE's is crazy and they get really boring fast.
My wife has complained about being bored and because I really want us to play together I've been coming up with all kinds of good points about the game to help keep her interested. I point out how we can go do WvW and how the DE will get better, etc. Her response to me makes a lot of sense and may also be what a lot of people are feeling. She said that's all great, but if I'm not excited right now I don't have the motivation to want to get higher levels to experience other things.
What my wife said also makes sense to me in terms of how skills and abilities are attained and how that leads to boredom. As many have stated, you get your main attacks very quickly with your weapons and they don't change. This does get boring. I know others have said, just wait until you level higher and can play with different trait builds. But again, the problem is actually being motivated to get to those higher levels to want to unlock those new traits.
The amount of serious issues with the game is also making it difficult to enjoy. I don't know about all Realms, but on mine (Sanctum of Rall) the Trading post has been down ever since launch, or at least it's down every time I try to use it. I was okay with this for the first few days after launch but now it's unacceptable. It's making crafting, selling and the general economy unfun for me. The queues for WvW are also obnoxious and reduce the fun factor. I know it's partly that I'm a casual player and can only play for 1-2 hours a night, but sitting in a queue for 30-45 minutes is NOT fun. The grouping issue seems to have gotten better, but it's still buggy trying to party up with friends, especially when it's 3 or more. These are all issues that are contributing to the game losing it's appeal for me.
I'm not a GW2 Fanboy and I'm not a hater. I'm a guy who just wants an MMO to play and enjoy. I still hold out hope for GW2 and I'm plugging along, but I do see it as a bad sign that after a week I'm "plugging along" as opposed to excitedly looking forward to log on.

I actually find the classes in this game to be extremely boring. I can't find a single one I enjoy playing for a long period of time.
That plus the one-handed weapon clipping issues with the gear is extremely annoying, so I feel limited on what I can play and actually enjoy.
I'm still chugging along however and hopefully things will improve if I can get one to level 20+ without getting bored.
I don't really get the whole leveling argument being thrown at them anyways. I mean the whole point of this game was supposely leveling doesn't really matter and the whole game is endgame.
So what fucking difference does it matter how quickly they leveled? If they're bored...they're bored. I'm not going to sit here and trash them over it.

maybe because they dont like it? you dont have to play a game for a year to see that it dont fits you, but you cant blame them either that they bored it so quickly
Thing is, I don't really care if people are bored or not. That's a them problem not a me problem. Only thing I care about is how I feel about the game. Does the game offer value for what I paid for it? This whole thing where people feel they have to stir up drama about not liking the game is pointless. In every game I have left, the only one I have ever gone to forums about was AoC and that was just after launch when I felt so ripped off that I had to vent. Otherwise I just simply quietly stopped playing.
Edit: I need to add this. The difference in this game is that if you quit playing here it makes very little impact on A-net. They got your box fee. You probably would have never spent any money in the cash shop anyway. Do you really think having 1/4 less players after launch is a problem for them? That just helps them stabilize thier servers. Point is.... THEY GOT PAID ... period. That's the advantage of a btp game over a sub game. They can afford to lose a few players after launch it just decreases their costs in bandwidth, support, etc.
If I'm bored, I'm bored; it's not a decision I make, because I'd rather not be bored and love this game. I'm still trying to love this game, which is the decision being made here, at least in my case.
