Well ofc you can, its been out for 8 years.

WoW's music is epic. The Night Elf zone music was the first thing I heard when I began playing and it was super ultra epic. I can't remember the themes for a lot of the old MMOs which have also been out for like 6-10 years.

IMO there is no point of saying IMO because clearly everything you say on discussion boards is your own opinion. Don't really need to start/end each sentence with IMO!

Preach. Teldrassil and Ashenvale's music instantly takes me back to so many of my memories.

And the same can be said with GW.  Some of the old themes takes me back to some missions and story where some of the music in GW2 carried over.  Same goes for AoC where I forget the song title but had that Iceland chick singer was it?  Which took me back to the zone where that crypt raid was located at.

Stopped reading right there. I use mouse turning in every mmo I play. I guess you want that good ol' stand still doing nothing but click on target then push buttons combat.

    WoW is that way.

Just because you prefer to play that way doesn't mean everyone else does. You'd be amazed at how many MMO players still keyboard turn. Also there are still a group that prefer click to move. It is a preference.. also I don't understand your WoW reference in relation to the mouse thing.

People just can't help but be rude can they?

Even the combat for each class gets tedious after awhile. For example firing a rifle being blown backwards is a good novelty but after a dozen or so times its irritating.

Dynamic Events get more and more repetitive.  Am sick to death of escorting quests. Really do we have to escort people at least ten times in every zone? Its designed as a clever timesink to make you feel you progress at a slow pace. Even if its nott escort, its kill a thousand centaurs, bandits, worms. YAWN AND MORE YAWN.

Personal Story- Even more tiresome quests which involved escorting or saving someone. More bandits and centaurs. Great.

Gear- Can buy stuff with karma or pick up off the odd random mob. Most of the karma vendors don't have much and the majority of loot you pick is crafting stuff. Yawn another timesink.

The World- Didn't get a feeling of OMG this is epic.  Where's the decent music scores in this game? Cities are instanced nuff said.

Replayability value- the thought of getting to even level 30, then re-rolling and going through the dynamic event system again makes me feel nauseous. zerg fests of button mashing in every zone is not my idea of fun.

All I have to say OP is you are in the minority of this.Tons of people still loving this game. This is all your opinion. Every game has repetition somewhere that is just how it goes. Either enjoy the game for what it is worth or go cry about it elsewhere. I bet you are going to go back and play WoW. That is where you belong. Can I offer you some cheese with your whine? You won't be missed.

He was sharing his opinions, what is wrong with that? Either way more and more people are finding out GW2 is a hallow game without staying power.

Again the fans of GW2 are a bit to rude to those who have opposing opinions and for some reason always feel the need to bring up WoW.

I really just want to say to everyone posting all these negative threads  "Thank you for giving Anet your money for the initial investment, at least it will support the game for awhile down the road for those of us that enjoy it.. Now go play something else!" :)

And the reason GW2 content gets so stale and boring so quickly is because it's really not that different from what we've seen in the last 10 years.

The quest mechanics in GW2 are just as repetitive and limited, and therefore become just as tedious, as the quest mechanics in other games.  Add to that how simplistic the game is, and how much it holds the player's hand, and it becomes tedious even more quickly.

in your opinion maybe but i haven't found this to be so.. well a little in the first areas but not as much as you progress

Whats not to understand. You simply cannot stand stick keyboard turning in GW2 or you will die. You can in WoW. He made mouse turning a key point to why he doesnt like the game. And WoW is king of stand still combat. Adapt to GW2 combat or dont. But dont cry about it.  And I didnt speak for everyone else. I spoke for myself. If you dont like mouse turning combat but you play mmos then chances are great you like keyboard turning combat. So once again WoW is that way.

Unlikely as at metacritic the scoring is about onpar with the game unlike TORtanic or Rift/

The combat system isn't good. Too dam fiddly having to constantly use the right mouse button to turn yourself around. It breaks combat. Just plain annoying. Even the combat for each class gets tedious after awhile. For example firing a rifle being blown backwards is a good novelty but after a dozen or so times its irritating.

There is a thing called tactics and this is a valuable skill you described.  I find the combat the most engaging ever.  No more of just standing still and going through rotations.

And how far did you go?  Made it past the first zone?  Describe your numberous "yawn" DEs.  As the levels progress and new zones are explored the DEs get more and more entertaining.  Different zones are drastically different and there is variety.  At it's core yes it is the same as quests in other MMMOs but by far the DEs are engaging and fun to do.  Even if it's simpely for the sake that one does not have to run around to collect quests, do em, n return to turn em in.

Personal Story- Even more tiresome quests which involved escorting or saving someone. More bandits and centaurs. Great.

Ummm.... there is very little killing in the PS.  It's a STORY if you missed that part and so far am thuroughly engoying it.  This is the campaign story that GW had and is a trait that GW2 shares.

Gear- Can buy stuff with karma or pick up off the odd random mob. Most of the karma vendors don't have much and the majority of loot you pick is crafting stuff. Yawn another timesink.

When is crafting or any kind of vendor items not a time sink?

The World- Didn't get a feeling of OMG this is epic.  Where's the decent music scores in this game? Cities are instanced nuff said.

Evident trolling.  Jeremy Soule has done many great pieces in the past and in GW2.  And the point for instanced cities?  Sure it's instanced but the world is the most MMO kind of world I've ever experianced.

Replayability value- the thought of getting to even level 30, then re-rolling and going through the dynamic event system again makes me feel nauseous. zerg fests of button mashing in every zone is not my idea of fun.

And this statement makes it clear that you never progressed far.  That like judging all of WoW up to Deadmines.

The mechanics are repeated thoughout the game.  The oft repeated line that "it all changes" as you progress is simply not true.

The idea that going back to do old leveling content when a player reaches 80 is just as ludicrous.  For anyone that's gone back to do old DEs or heart quests, it's no challenge whatsoever.  Despite the level-normalizing system, high level characters absolutely stomp lower level content.

Personally, I don't have a problem with that concept - it's the purpose of a leveling system in the first place.  The de-leveling system is contrived to begin with, and it's also not really effective so doing low level content isn't exactly meaningful or satisfying.  Saying it's viable "endgame" is just plain funny.

WoW is king of stand still combat? Oh come on now, go play some WvWvW in GW2 and tell me that again. In terms of overall PvP i move much much more in WoW than GW2.

Now in PvE, you have to dodge and move around alot with GW2 so i'll give you that.

pffft obviously you have not palyed the game at all then. If you enjoy quest hub games where the combat means you stand  in one spot and push buttons so you can get to the next quest hub ubtil you get to max level to run the raid of the week repeatedly hoping for a good roll on some gear that becomes outdated when the next big patch releases so you can run the new raid of the month then more poweer to you. I got tired of that rat race somewhere between EQ1 and EQ2. Each to their own though. My self I am loving the no structured game play of GW2.

what are you talking about?, u are doing the same thing in GW2 than any other MMO before, ¨the quest hub¨ is there, people is running around the map doing ¨hearts hubs¨ and then move to the next one, Also, in GW2 you stand in one spot and press ¨one¨ button, and at endgame u need to grind ¨karma¨ to buy gear, Thats a grind like any other MMO before, and i remember people talking about ¨GW2 doesnt have stats, u dont need to grind¨, well, that was a lie because all is see is gear with, guess what STATS. So endgame in GW2 is farm karma and do dungeons to buy gear, the same thing that we did the last 10 years of MMMO history. GW2 is exactly like any other MMO before.

The ridiculous trolling that some of you listen to is so entertaining. I dont think most of you trying to defend this guy's points as valid understand that he is too stupid to open up his options menu. Not only is the statement that you need to turn with RMB simply a lie, but you can go in and change the keys to whatever you want.

I cant remember the last time I played an MMO that didnt offer both keyboard and mouse turning. Its a pretty standard thing nowadays to offer both.

Sad things is Ive seen someone else crying about the same thing in another thread about why they dont like the game after Rogue started his trolling. Perfect examples of people being too stupid to figure things out, or not even playing the game and simply relying on the lies of trolls for factual information.

I see your points and agree.  I spent the money for this game to sink time, and not pay a monthly sub.  Other then that, this game is not awsome by any standard unless, you are a f an boy.  The game is good as a time sinnk, and only worth the 60 bucks you paid for it.  Actually, you can get as much, or more from many FTP games, and not sink the bucks into buying the client.

Anet said a long time ago that the hearts are basically hubs to get people into the area to experience the events going on around there. Still dont get why some of you insist that anyone ever said it would be different. Hearts =/= DEs. Also the only people going from heart to heart are people doing it for the 100% map completion. We know they are static and repetitive, and are very similar to questing in other games. hearst arent what people want to play the game for.

I take it youre either a) one of the trolls feeding on other trolls for info or b) are still in the starter area and also havent PvPed. Standing still and pressing the 1 button will get you killed... a lot. Stop spreading the lie if youre anything more than a complete troll.

People said GW2 doesnt have stats? Cool story if it were even remotely true. Gear / stats didnt really matte rin GW1. Arenanet has stated since the beggining that gear and stats are MORE important in GW2. They just said it is less important than in most other games, allowing lower levels to at least stand a chance in fights rather than getting 1 shot by people in max gear . I'd really love to know where you people get your information from that it is constantly completely ass backwards.

DE are also statics, i mean, every ¨heart hub¨ have a DE around, and is the same event  over and over with a timer.

GW2.. Something is missing, I'd say good stories, some cutscenes (omg those dialogue scenes are beyond bad) and less tedious repetetive missions. And freaking puzzles goddammit this was supposed to be a RPG, where are quests you need to use your brain?

PvP is a mass zerg fest, basically the same like Secret World has in Fusang, just with bows and arrows instead of assault rifles and a bigger but lower detail map you need to run through endlessly.

All in all, I have more fun in TSW.

The way I see it, the OP is right about the grind.  The problem is that the grind lies at the heart of the MMO model.  If you didn't have the grind, then the game designers would have a hard time keeping people interested in the game so that there is an interest in accomplishment.  In a way, GW2 tries to sidestep that by making it no monthly fee, and that's fine, but to that end they could have made the game a great deal more like the narrative from a single-player game, keeping the action moving and adding more to the story.  Think Legend of Zelda.  Now think Legend of Zelda MMO with the only difference being that there is PVP and you can play through the story with multiple people.  No levels, no grind.  Much more similar to Diablo III in terms of a linear story with multiple people experiencing different time frames and different choices.  In a few years I predict that we will see just that as the consoles get more and more connected in the game play.

I would love so much for someone to give a good example of an mmo that doesn't get repetitive after a while.  It's like the people who complain about this, which has been complained in about every mmo out there so far, have never played another mmo before.  Even single player games get repetitve.  If that repetition gets "tedious and boring" to you, maybe you should pick another hobby instead of video games.

What a useless post.  You have nothing to back that up.

True.  Everyone likes to throw around the word "Fail" but a real Fail is something like Tabula Rasa.  You say GW2 is hyped?  I say the failure of GW2 is hyped.

I have to agree with the OP on this.

There's something about the GW2 world that simply feels dull. Sure, it's very pretty in a artificial sort of way. The lighting and the world construction feel very awkward. And there's nothing that feels epic, nothing that feels dangerous and nothing that feels unknown.

The single most disappointing thing for me is that you don't have to explore for anything. All the locations just pop up on your map when you enter an area. This really shows how dumbed-down MMOs have become.

When you zoom out on the world map GW2 looks like the ultimate expression of the theme-park. Every zone is a little rectangle and they all fit together. It could be designed by Disney - look there's Nornland, hey there's Treeland over there, let's go visit.
