I'm at anvil hill and I had atrocious lag. Judging by the in game chat I wasn't the only one but some were claiming it was running smoothly. So not sure if it's affecting entire servers or parts of those servers. Not sure how it works.

First, haters gonna hate. Second, only one server is experiencing lag--Jade Quarry. Which is the only server at "full" capacity. Every other server has no lag. I'm on Crystal Desert right now with no lag.
Lastly, don't hate, congradulate. Also, the game didn't even officially launch yet.
where have i seen this before. oh i know. EVERY MAJOR MMO RELEASE. same complaints for the same reasons.gota suck eggs and wait it out. it will take a week or 2 for majority of players to get settled in. and saying developers should know is like looking into a crystal ball and pulling out the number of exact players to accomodate at once.
just wait till launch day it will be even worse lol.
Originally posted by Jonoku guys this is just the early access and you guys are acting like as if its a sub and you will have to pay 15 bucks to keep playing the game. the game is new and developing, people are overreacting.
Dang, you are being pretty nice there. The best I could manage was 'clueless and/or whiney'.
Everyone is trying to get on at once. The first weekend is always going to be filled with people trying to get on for the first time, combined with internet/server/software hiccoughs.
Everyone should just be happy they got to snag names. I'm getting GW2 with store credit that I can't use online, so I have to wait til Tuesday.
If you are holding out for the perfect game, the only game you play will be the waiting one.

Nice broad generalization of the issues people are experiencing.
My Guild rolled on Maguuma, which is no where near the population of Jade Quarry. Five of my guild mates logged off to play something else to let the problems settle, those still remaining are exploring POIs right now in Lions Arch because zoning is broken and combat is so laggy that they die after 30+ seconds of timeout.
I had the Tutorial Bugon Jade Q. Logged all the way out came back in adn it corrected itself. No Lag thus far which is impressive the Human city is crazy busy!
I'm on JQ and I haven't had any lag at all. No video lag, and no network lag. Lots of overflow, which is to be expected, but no lag or rubberbanding.
A sure sign that you are in an old, dying paradigm/mindset, is when you are scared of new ideas and new technology. Don't feel bad. The world is moving on without you, and you are welcome to yell "Get Off My Lawn!" all you want while it happens. You cannot, however, stop an idea whose time has come.
for me its totaly the opposite, i dunno what they have done but man i totaly not lagging, and my fps improved by 10. i play with 60 to 70 instend of 50 to 60, and its so smooth.

Having trouble logging back in after restarting client, also there were minor issues with guild invites and whispers which have been fixed by now. Other than that, smooth sailing for me with zero lag.
No prolems at all playing the game, even though they went ahead of early access time line. No lag, just a small FPS drop here and there, overall it runs smooth.
The first few hours/days of any major MMO release are like this unless they were to stagger the access like SWTOR did, and I really think that would have been a terrible move. For now, just claim your character names and do what you can.
I have seen releases where this lag freezes your character for 10-30 minutes, won't let you access the character you just created or the server fries and it takes the devs an entire da y before they are back online, SWG anyone...
At times I do this, which I highly recommend...
2 ounces Sweet and Sour mix
2 ounces Disarono
pour over ice and relax while you sip , sometimes just skip the Sweet and Sour altogether and double the liquor-)
It works wonders and my blood pressure stays calm the entire time.
well i can name one with perfect launch, no lag, no queques.....

Let's get something out of the way first. The official pre-purchase time is 0:00AM PST (3:00AM EST). The servers went up early specifically to allow for ArenaNet to deal with any issues that may arise. What time is it now?
I've logged out. It's late and I am going to bed now. But aside from one crash, that I got right back in, it's been fine. No lag, Good frame rates. Frankly, From a technical stand point, My opening hrs in GW2 have been more stable and smoother than my best days in Rift.

Is a man not entitled to the herp of his derp?
Remember, I live in a world where juggalos and yugioh players are real things.
Because everyone that is trying to get into the game now was there for those..

The game isn't released, maybe that has something to do with it.
And yes, people will experience lag, and even other bugs (!), in the comming days. It's the release of a big MMO.
Whining bout this either makes you a retard, or you have 0 experience with MMO releases. Or both.
To what end? Just makes the flood come faster.
