Concerning the music of Guild Wars 2.  I have played in every BWE and stress test so far and I can say that most of the music was so muted it was hard to hear.  Even with that there were a few tracks that caught my attention but most were simply drowned out by the din of sound effects.  As for the main title sound track; epic - yes, but I really don't like it.  It's not that it's dis-jointed, I guess the best way to word it is that there is something about that song that I can not put my finger on.  I can't enjoy  listening to it.  Every time I get to the login screen I can't get past it fast enough.

From what I have read, a lot of the tracks were reused from Guild Wars.  They are fairly easy to find through the background noise.

As for the tracks built for Guild Wars 2; I have not heard enough of them to say if I like them or not.  I will say that I have ordered the 4CD set from DirectSong so that I can actually listen to the music.  Until I get the chance to listen to the entire soundtrack I will sit the fence and say that I neither dislike or like most of the music I am trying to hear.

I really wish they would tone down those blasted seagulls in Lion's Arch.  You can't even hear the fountain music/sound effects.

My cousin does not play video game anymore but he played to gw 1 very briefly  6 years ago. Thursday he came to visit me and I was playing in the stress test and he recognized the music right away even if he played the first game only  for a very short time. So I would say that it was a memorable song at least for him.

Overall i love the GW2 music.

I am especially a sucker for piano, and am working on getting this tune from GW2 down. Sounds easier than it is lol, least for me (not a piano expert but getting there! :D )

I completely disagree with the OP, I love most of the music I've heard in GW2. Hell, sometimes I even stop doing whatever is that I'm doing and just listen.

Hmmm,i have been  running around the world of Tyria for 3-4 months, not just BWs either,i've heard just about every song in the game if not all.

For me it does not come close to AOC or Vanguard and perhaps EQ but it's not bad ,just not on par with the games i've mentioned.

Of course this is my oipinion and i guess it all comes down to taste.

This said, I remember the first time I entered Stormwind with a newbie human... you pass the huge gates, walk between the huge statues, and you have that music:

By the way, do you know who is doing the Mists of Pandaria music? Jeremy Soule... =P

Wait, what?!!!  You sure Jeremy Soule is doing MoP music?  Link please.

Also, just search google for "Pandaria Jeremy Soule" and you'll find some of the tunes.

Well....that just means I'll have to buy the soundtrack instead of the expansion.  :D  Amazing.

Now were're trolling on the music now?

While the maintheme is a bit underwhelming (multiple pieces together it feels like and the tone/feel is inconsistant or changes too quick to really be considered a piece) but many tracks are by far some of the greatest peices and are certainly more classical orchestrated feel.  It's Jeremy Soul for christ sakes, one of the most if not thee most decorated reconized gaming music composer of all time which his quality stiff reflects in GW2.

But really it all comes done to taste.

Really,i can't understand why you would do that unless you are listening to your own tracks. The only music i turn off is combat music in most MMO unless it's the same as the non combat music.

Jeremy Soule could orchestrate a vuvuzela and I'd enjoy it.

GW2 has one of the best game composers in the industry working on the music for them... not sure what the complaints are. But music tastes are probably one of the most subjective things out there.

I angered the clerk in a clothing shop today. She asked me what size I was and I said actual, because I am not to scale. I like vending machines 'cause snacks are better when they fall. If I buy a candy bar at a store, oftentimes, I will drop it... so that it achieves its maximum flavor potential. --Mitch Hedberg

Just look who the Op is and it will all make sense, I personally love the GW2 soundtrack and can't wait until they put it up for sale.

    I love the Skyrim Theme.

Secondly, as I just said, Soule made the Skyrim theme in the vision that Todd Howard brought TO him.  Its stated in a video dev diary for Skyrim somewhere.

And.... furthermore, the rest of Skyrim's soundtrack is... get this. Dull and forgettable.

I actually liked all the music in skyrim; except the (dwermer? sp?) areas and the snow elves.

I actually found myself staying clear of those.... I have no urge to to even fight them.

That's why my GW2 soundtrack will eventually be from Two Steps from Hell, I already have a few playlists for combat/exploration even for underwater and the main menu. Of course, after I get bored of the original GW2 music

GW2 soundtrack are pretty good for a MMORPG but cant compared with the GOD of Two steps from hell, almost any music you listen from this guys are just EPIC cant say the same about GW2 soundtrack where in 90 music i found 5-6 really epic music most of them are pretty boring

mmo music NEEDS to be forgettable/undewhelming. If i have to listen to the same tune for hours on end, it better keep itself on the background and not force itself upon the player. Good MMO music is like elevator music. You don't know it's there until you pay attention, but it does add to the overall ambiance.

Is any one else a little underwhelmed by the music of Guild Wars 2? I haven't been listening to it much until recently. How ever once I did. Some one used one word to describe it as 'forgettable' and I'm inclined to agree.

As the example above. It started out good until 10 seconds in where it became a jumbled mess. It seems like they wanted to make an epic track, but got carried away and added more noise to assault your ears with. It's like mixing all these awesome colours together, only to end up with brown. Rather than keeping it simple and progressively flowing like for example.

Could be perhaps that I prefer strings over horn in orchestral pieces. We all have our musical preferences. How ever, I'm just wondering if any one feels the same or explain how the music appeals to you.

As a bunch of others have said, this is where we find people's taste in music :) I can understand you not liking the theme if you like symphony better than orchestral pieces. I, personally, love every second of the soundtrack (which is why I bought it, too). Not as great as Howard Shore's LOTR work, but it is definitely solid, and one of Jeremy Soule's best compositions, imo. But, whether one is over or underwhelmed by it, it IS very well done music. Not Bach, but still very well composed and very fluid.

    To each his own! :D

I'm not sure if this theme has been posted yet but it is my favorite. It's one of the themes for the norn area but not their main theme. I've heard it primarily in hoelbrak but I believe I've also heard it in their starting zone. It's not very loud and very serene. Not sure why I like it so much but when I first heard this I stopped what I was doing and just said "WOW! this game is great!"

I loved the music in Skyrim and GW1. So far in GW2 I'm not that impressed yet, so not memorable for me either. But then I haven't seen many areas yet. The cool thing though of Jeremy Soul's music, is that I never got annoyed with his music in any game so far. He makes it really fit into the background as if it is part of the scenery. I can't say this about the music from other composers in games.

For me it's just so generic, like the art style, it both looks and sounds like any other fantasy MMO.
