Not a bad job so far over at TSW, but they aren't out the woods yet. Still have the chat issue and the whole "Blaze" craze...

But they have been fixing somethings (AUTORUN / SPRINT ) and with the new content coming in next week there will be new resolve to see how they will do next month. I'll be resubbing...

As for the free-pass for next weekend. Cool idea hopefully some people who didn't really like how things were in previous plays thru Beta will be able to see some of the changes and fixes they have made to see if they are to their liking.

For those that will be completely new.. Everything is REAL!

PM before you report at least or you could just block.

I am glad about the chance .. I will likely check it out for the week-end again..  didn't get a chance to really explore it much in beta.

Waiting for the "they must be desperate for subs to have the free week-end only one month after release!"

Wa min God! Se æx on min heafod is!

Oh it's comin! And although it is not always an empty complaint as some titles obviously are struggeling and you can see them gasping for air in plain view.

I think SWTOR is a good example of that (over the last several months) and from my personal experience that is not what TSW is trying to do this weekend. Being a niche game to start with they aren't expecting world record breaking numbers. They aren't expecting to break into WoW subscriber numbers.

They seem more focused on drawing in a crowd that I won't completely call "casual" but perhaps more attentive to detail and methodical type players. The investigation missions (if you don't google out the entire mission) can be very time consuming.

Expaning on that department would help further differentiate what TSW is all about. It has many common MMO features and grinds but really focuses on seperating itself with its atmosphere and story telling.

Fantastic game with some bugs...which hopefully Funcom will squash over time. I enjoy logging in every night. I'm re-subbing as I've put in over 60 hours and I'm still only in the second area Savage Coast. Most refreshing MMO I"ve ever played.

I think overall they have done a good job fixing most of the launch bugs and the games in a pretty good state. I certainly feel a lot more comfortable with the state of the game compared to SWTOR a month in.

I genuinely think this has the best V/O and cut-scenes of any MMO, the story is brilliantly told.

This is the first themepark MMO I've enjoyed since WoW, it's also the first seamed world MMO I manage to stick with more than a couple weeks. Immersion is fantastic and some of the quests are actually entertaining... Shocker!!!

On the other hand though, as always with Funcom, the game has some major bugs (ie: broken chat, broken gear manager, bugged bosses etc...). AoC had similar bugs years after release so I'm not holding my breath for fixes anytime soon. Sub cancelled...for now.

Broken chat for some I guess. Most have had no problem. Isn't just a issue of rescubscribing to channels?

bcbully, I think that is what Charas is saying about broken chat.  It is an issue for many, like for instance multiple chat windows are basically useless currently.

As for broken bosses, I have yet to see that, I know off one in Facility that can bug out visually occasionally, but for the most part the boss battles work as intended to my knowledge.

Still a Single Player game in my eyes, not worth my time.

I guess I must be doing it wrong since 98% of my time in game is in a group with my friends.

You folks need to note that the event is not this weekend, its next: 8/3 - 8/6. I had to double check my dates to make sure.  You quoted just the last part of their page, and its a bit confusing until you go to their site.

great foundation to build on. I'll give it a looksie if it survives it's first 6 months.

    Way to go, Funcom.

There's no doubt it will be around. It's a surprisingly fun, refreshing, and creative game. No harm in picking it up now and enjoying it with the rest of us!

Well, according to information that was released when TSW was announced, this was said about TSW:

"After announcing the development of The Secret World, Funcom project director Jørgen Tharaldsen informed the press that the game uses the same engine as Age of Conan. According to Funcom, the game will blend elements of MMO gameplay with alternate reality gaming (ARG) and social networking.

Celebrating one month. Whats next...woohoo....we survived a week. Games used to celebrate a year. This move of saying look at us, we are still going after a month show how little confidence they have in their own game. Its nice to see something a bit different in the mmo world but will this game last long term, I doubt it. And celebrating a month, it seems the publishers doubt TSW will be around for long either.

Or you could turn that around as in, "we know that we let you down with our previous MMO, so we're grateful that you're willing to give our new game a fair chance and not caused us to bomb even faster than APB originally did. So let's party and allow us to show you that we'll keep up the good work."

Kind of a glass half-full or half-empty scenario.

Why not making more friends then?

    See........that's my point

You need to have RL friends to enjoy the group content, otherwise people are not bothered

Personally I like pugging and meeting new people in MMOs, and this game don't incentivate this one bit.

I never said that there are no group features in TSW, it's just that normally people are not bothered and proceed with their usual storylines and quest grind rather than socialising and play with others.
